OOC Player Disclaimer

So as (most of) you know, I had the first new addition to my family in March. We're getting into our groove and I'm working with SO to try to get a little two-handed time in which to do live scenes in addition to the slow-paced RP-by-google-docs that I've been doing. I wanted to put out there that if I'm logged in, I'm possibly (probably?) RP okay, /but/ because I have a wee one who, let's face it, at two months old isn't even a little self-sufficient and who has first crack my attention, if I RP, it comes with the following disclaimer:

I really want to RP with you, but the wee one has to come first, which means RPing with me live may involve unexpected slowness that I won't be able to say 'hey, I'll brb in x many minutes' before I /have/ to go do something. It means I might be typing one handed which makes me a little slower with posing. It might mean I need to pause the scene or only get three poses in before something happens that requires my attention away from the keys. I know this makes me a drag to RP with, but if you're willing to put up with that, I'm thrilled to RP with you.

Otherwise, I would love, love, love to RP with you by google doc. If you're interested, shoot me a +mail with your google docs address and I'll be glad to set something up.

If neither appeals to you, I completely understand and hope to RP with you in the future as tiny tot grows. I just wanted to wave my RP flag in what ways I can. Hope to play with you soon!

Description

In her mid-twenties, tan and tall for a woman, Tayte boasts a feminine, lightly athletic frame as well as a certain friendly swagger. Her smooth, sun-kissed features are largely rounded despite the strength to her nose and jaw, given a hint of vivacity by the browner freckles that butterfly across that nose from cheek to cheek. The coppery rose of her full, soft lips continues that warmth, but her eyes are by contrast an ocean's blue-green beneath slightly arched blonde brows. Her flaxen hair frames her face, mostly straight with a touch of natural wave. Its highlights and lowlights make it a mix of gold and dirty blonde that brushes to the bottom of her shoulder blades when unbound.

Black leather boots lead into tight-fitting pants of the same color and material. A large belt-buckle that has been made in the pattern of a scorpion, tail poised to strike, holds her belt snug around her waist. Muted red flowers and vines are embroidered around the laced vee at her neck and down the three-quarter sleeves of the black blouse. The shirt is revealing of form but not much in the way of flesh. A heart charm dangles from the thin silver chain about her neck. Nearly lost in her hair, which is pulled back into a messy up-do, small hoops dangle from a pair of piercings in each ear and a small ring pokes through the cartilage of her left.

History

The neither happy nor unhappy result of a green flight, Tayte is the biological daughter of bluerider Tatayana and greenrider J'tel of Igen. As with many flight babies, she was fostered quickly through a personal connection of the Headwoman's to a loving, childless couple at Bitra Hold. Estarra and Mikaelen were both older, and had been trying for children of their own for some turns before turning to fostering as a solution for their want of a child. Estarra was a quick-handed card dealer and Mikaelen one of several wine stewards retained by the Bitran Holder family. Neither were of status or significance to their employers, they both did their jobs well and that was all that was needed to keep them gainfully employed.

Tayte's childhood was a happy one. Estarra and Mikaelen doted on their daughter and loved her as though she were their own. Eventually, a handful more of fosters came to them by way of Igen Weyr, through that same connection that had brought Tayte across the distance. One of them was a blood relation, a half-sister through her father, named Jeyteshli. Of her foster siblings, Tayte was the only to show interest in what her parents did for a living. While her fingers were deft enough for her mother's task, the job did not provide enough variety to keep her clever mind busy.

Constantly asking questions of her father led the man to introduce her to the local Journeyman Vintner, a man by the name of Percell. Percell was an ornery sort, but Tayte was never the type to mind a little bit of thorn with the flower. Her persistence rewarded her with not only answers to her questions about making wine, beer, and other drinks, but it also won the man over and had him recommending she apprentice to the craft a few turns later, when she was old enough.

At thirteen, Tayte bid a temporary farewell to her fosterfamily and moved to Benden to study at the Vintner Hall. Her turns there were full of rigorous study, demanding physical labor (squishing grapes is hard!), and many a good drink and a good memory made. Her time there is remembered in fondness and she keeps strong relations with many of the apprentices who became her friends.

At twenty, she was on the young side for walking tables, but walk she did. She stayed at the Hall for about a turn to better learn her chosen specialization: mixology. Then she received her first posting: Ista Weyr. Sometimes, a place just fits. So it was with a Weyr. She felt at ease, and far from bothered by some of the more lax social graces that existed there. She worked at the bar, developed her own drinks, mixed many and learned the skills of her trade as they applied in practice. She loved it! After all, what wasn't there to love about chatting with people, mixing drinks, and generally having a good time?

Tayte did learn several valuable lessons from her first posting. The first was that it was good to know how to handle yourself in a tight spot, so she learned. The second was that sleeping with the first pretty face that comes along can land you in a world of trouble, or at least annoyance, for 9 months and the next many turns. So it was that Yvalia was born. Not one to follow tradition in naming, the girl's name gave no clue as to the parentage, and Tayte wasn't inclined to say. The child was born Day 22, Month 2, Turn 28, when Tayte was 22 turns old.

After being at Ista for a few turns, she sent a letter requesting a change of posting. She never provided reasons; perhaps she was just bored with the local flavors and wanted a change of scene, or perhaps there were deeper reasons at work. Whatever the reason, her request was granted within about six months of her sending it, and she got something different: High Reaches Weyr.

She and Yvalia arrived to the Weyr in turn 31. Her official capacity as far as the Hall was concerned was to help manage the Weyr's alcohol stores, ensure their preservation methods are up to snuff, and to focus on her mixing of fancy liquors. Why High Reaches? Well, the abundance of snow in most seasons will provide Tayte ample means of experimentation for cold-mixing methods. Perhaps it will come to something, or not, but it's worth the time of a curious Journeyman, according to the Hall. This was something of a surprise to Tayte. Certainly, she'd be advancing her mixology skills and research and lending hands to what few vintners are already posted to the place, but she thought with Snowasis there, she'd be bartending at least part of the time.

Bartend she did, though the position had nothing to do with her vintner responsibilities. So she juggled those two sets of professional responsibilities and her increasingly complicated personal relationships. She took a hiatus in turn 32 during which she visited her sister at Southern Weyr. On Turnover Day in turn 34, Tayte gave birth to her second daughter, Tahvra, fathered by H'vier. In month 2 of turn 34, she was asked to return to Vintner Hall temporarily to assist with her master's teaching duties when he took ill. She has yet to return from that assignment.
