W'chek
Contents
Description
Average, unrelentingly average. W'chek's never going to be standing out in a crowd, except for the bronze strand that winds through the knot that's usually on his shoulder. Maybe six foot even, slim despite the labors of caring for a dragon. Dark hair, cropped close, and dark eyes, often with dark shadows beneath them. Fair skin, now long-clear of adolescent splotches but pocked around the nose and hairline where they once were. Although habitually clean-shaven, by late in the day there's a visible shadow along his jawline.
WYSK
- From a small Hold outside of Nabol, although he came to the Weyr from Nabol proper in the summer of turn 19.
- Established a solid reputation early on for being a holdbred prick. Got hit for it at least once. Being a dragonrider didn't improve his penchant for conservatism, except--
- Somehow he went from being in an (in)famously chaste relationship with then-apprentice Madilla to being weyrmated to B'tal, who is pretty obviously a guy.
- Wears a partial denture that is generally not noticeable in place of two missing teeth on the top left.
- Impressed bronze Zhikath of Iovniath and Cadejoth's first clutch at the beginning of winter in turn 19.
History
Once upon a time, there was a boy named Whitchek, and he was a bastard. Not in the sense that his parents weren't married, more in the sense that he was a total jerk to everybody in the Weyr he'd just inexplicably moved to, after some business with getting kicked out of Nabol.
He was about as conservative as it was possible to get and actually still reside in a Weyr, and liked to say so, loudly, at every opportunity. He got punched for it.
He was engaged to marry a Very Nice Holdbred Girl who just happened to be at the Weyr, and he was going to show everybody what life was supposed to be like.
And he was, for most of that time, sneaking off with a particular very male greenrider.
It was complicated.
It got more complicated when he Impressed Zhikath, who didn't understand any of it.
There was more punching.
It got less complicated when, in the true form of adolescent drama, he took up with a different very male greenrider, that very male greenrider's very large boyfriend figured it out, and it went downhill from there.
Now, W'chek and B'tal are weyrmates, and W'chek doesn't lecture people quite as often as he used to, though he's still known for being unpleasant and not a particularly good conversationalist. He's not become significantly more liberal since he got outed, and there are occasional murmurings about how he treats B'tal, but never any particular evidence thereof.
He very briefly became a part of the Weyr self-sufficiency project due to his agricultural background. This changed after he got into a shouting match with a local Holder. Weyrfolk just don't understand how Holders negotiate, obviously. Since then, he hasn't been entrusted with anything of note. Thankfully.
Relationships
Although it's not exactly a secret any more, he still doesn't routinely refer to B'tal as his weyrmate in front of strangers. When he does, it's often 'Bety', sans pronouns.
Madilla is going to have his baby... if nobody convinces her it's a terrible idea first.
