Matheny takes S'rists hand with her own blue one and holds her head high as she goes to take her place near the sire and dam.

S'din strides out onto the sands and flashes a smile at S'rist and Matheny, nodding to the large gold and bronze looming above.

All dragons sense that Tiaeth's humming is a soft baratone, sounding somehow clam, even with the feelings of excitement and aprehension projecting all around.

S'rist nods back towards S'din, smiling.

All dragons sense that Isadith adds her own deep rumble, the rich vibrato of her voice made faint by the distance, but joyful and hopeful nonetheless.

Channah has arrived.

The reddening of the Bendenite woman's heat-flushed cheeks deepens as she stumbles nervously onto the Hatching sands. She bows stiffly to Jenryth, Dzurath and the Weyrleaders before she takes her place within the arc of the girls circling the gold Egg.

Evandar has arrived.

Channah arrives at Evandar's side and walks - with a bounce barely contained - to join the Bendenit woman.

Two Candidates from Keroon and one from Ista Sea Hold cluster together as they bow to the dragons and Weyrleaders. Clutching sweaty hands, they join their Candidate brethren around the larger circle, shifting from one foot to another.

Evandar isn't bouncing at all. He is clutching desperately to his too short robe with a faint look of horror in his eyes. He shuffles along, sandals spraying sand up as he slowly makes his way to the semi-circle.

Shahryar has arrived.

Jaxelle has arrived.

Jaxelle stumbles out onto the sands, looking up she peers around a bit dazed, but manages to make her way to the loose circle and find a spot, shifting from foot to foot.

Egg of Echoing shudders lightly, barely visible except the other eggs around it are perfectly still. Another quick shudder, then it falls quiet again.

Shahryar settles in becide Jax hopping from one foot to another and trying to catch his breath.

Cloretta has arrived.

Banran has arrived.

Cloretta hits the sands and then begins the dance, "Hot." she repeats over and over as she makes her way into the circle.

Banran steps out onto the sands stiffly to hide his nervousness as he moves to join the growing circle of candidates.

Mhaul has arrived.

Kaelyn has arrived.

Kaelyn steps out onto the sands trying not to look nervous and looks around at the galleries looking for the familiar face of Jacera

Egg of Echoing begins to shudder again, this time with more fervor. It shakes, it rattles, it topples over on it's side and begins to roll slowly down the egg mound.

Kaelyn steps carefully over to Jaxelle and takes her hand

Mhaul peers down at the Sands as his feet make first contact with /sandals/ on. "Toasty..." He saunters along at an even place, just trying to find a spot in the semi-circle and belnd in quickly.

Kaelyn smiles at Jacera brightly and then focuses on the eggs in front of her

Akiko has arrived.

Evandar's eyes widen considerably as the egg begins its descent outward. He actually forgets about his robe as his eyes follow the course it takes.

Jaxelle looks at the hand, then up at Kaelyn with an almost confuzed expression. Her brows dip and she shakes her head slowly, using her free hand to wipe at her brow. Her feet dance beneith her and her breathing quickens with the exertion.

The young Bollian lad has to be pushed forward onto the sands. His nervousness and wide-eyed look of fear paralyzes him as he hears the noise of the Hatching crowd. Hearing his father's joyous bellow from the stands, his posture visibly relaxes and he makes his way to his place.

Dasil has arrived.

Akiko comes out onto the sands and quickly makes her way towards the group of candidates already semi-circling around the eggs. Sure, it's hot.. but she doesn't make much mention to it, as white robes and black hair swiftly make it into place. Whew.

Cloretta smiles as Akiko and Dasil come onto the sands and moves to let Akiko in next to her.

Channah exhales shakily, her eyes starting to light up with an unusual glow, and she says, "Oooo..." softly, moving over and back a bit as the semicircle widens.

Dasil trails along behind Akiko and finds his spot near the others, trying to hunker down a little bit so that his robe covers up more leg. He definitly feels at a disadvantage in candidate's garb.

Egg of Echoing finally comes to a gentle stop at the bottom of the sandy mound, resting there for a long moment before it's efforts begin again, this time with more urgency. Shuddering turns to full on shaking as the young creature inside fights to get out.

Kymi has arrived.

Kaelyn watches the egg with amazement and begins to smile

Yenne has arrived.

A shudder of exitement passes through Cloretta.

Two by two, Candidates step onto the sands and bow respectfully before the dragon parents and Weyrleaders. All goes smoothly until a Fort Weyr caverns boy finds himself face down on the ground from bowing too enthusiastically. With a large sheepish grin, he looks waaaaaay up at Jenryth then half-crawls toward the circle, struggling to his feet.

Kaelyn smiles at Yenne as she enters and the others

Banran has a nervous smile for the other candidates as they join him out on the sands.

White robe fluttering around her small, underdeveloped frame, Kymi walks out onto the sands, no emotion at all on her face or in her carefully timed steps. She moves into place in the semicircle, her silver eyes never leaving the eggs.

Mhaul moves near the center of the semi-circle, joining the people he knows with an anxious smile. His eyes lift up, noticing the movement of the eggs just now, his attentions focusing there.

Akiko looks aside to Cloretta and she takes her hand firmly, before shifting her gaze once more upon all that is going on. Tight lipped. Silent. "...."

Jaxelle doesn't seem to notice the egg or much of anything, as her hand falls from Kaelyns limply. She trips a bit to one side and manages an apology to the candidate she bumped into, somewhat stedying herself.

Yenne steps out onto the sands, pausing to brush the hair back from her face. She takes a deep breath and smooths out the tentlike robe she's wearing before moving to take a place in the semicircle with the other Candidates. She looks to Evandar, who stands nearby, and to Dasil as well, shooting both quick smiles. Then, shoulders straight, she turns to watch the eggs.

Kaelyn glances over at Jaxelle looking a little worried "Are you alright" whispers to her friend

Abbe has arrived.

Cloretta offers Aki a smile.

Girad has arrived.

Kaelyn smiles at Girad as he enters the sands

Abbe walks carefully onto the sand, blinks at the crowded galleries, perhaps to catch someone there. She then follows the other candidates to the eggs, turning her head to look at as many of her friends as possible, a smile for each of them.

Evandar is transfixed on the egg, of course, but he still manages to notice Yenne step out onto the sands and he returns her grin with a toothy one of his own. He points over to the egg that left the cocoon of the mound and is busily working on cracking. "Lookie!" he exclaims in delight.

Girad takes a deep breath in the broiling air and steps on warming feet to take his place on the far edge of the male group, eyes flickering over the stands, then to the Candidates. he smiles gently at a few people. Kymi, then Jaxelle, who he eyes closely

Haiku in Blue Egg rolls up out of the mound of sound it has been resting in so peacefully for so many days, and rolls onto flat sands.

Egg of Echoing shakes harder and harder, small cracks beginning to appear on it's surface.

Cloretta looks at Evan and then the egg, and her eyes go wide, her tongue flickers over her lips, and she shifts her weight to her other foot.

Jaxelle nods her assurance, "Fine fine.. just..hot.." she gives her head a shake and manages a smile to Kaelyn and then to Girad, picking up her feet in slower steps.

Mohria has arrived.

Kymi is absorbed in her eggs, in mind and soul. Her dark hair stirs restlessly in the wind, a few strands flying in front of her eyes. She refuses to tear her eyes from the currently hatching egg, breathing calmly.

Kiani has arrived.

Kaelyn smiles at Mohria "Hey look at the eggs. They are moving"

Mohria blinks a bit as she finds a tiny spot in the semi-circle to shoulder into. She grins at Kaelyn and nods.

Zuliah has arrived.

The flow of white robes dwindles down to the last two. The brother and sister from Balen bow before the gold and bronze dragons. Hands clasp tightly before both shuffle their way to the enclave of Candidates.

Banran soon turns his attention to the eggs as well. Like many others he watches the eggs attentively, however, he tries to hide his nervousness by standing even straighter as he watches closely.

Cloretta waves Zules over to her and Aki.

The closest egg to the hatching galleries suddenly bursts into russet and black hued shards. Where the Egg of Echoing once stood is now an energetic brown dragon.

Loamy Soil Brown

The smooth, gleaming hide of this large brown dragonet calls to mind the rich loam of a well-tended garden. The deep, dark brown of moist soil is upturned on the more prominent parts of his head, neck, and back while his snout, underbelly and legs are shaded with the golden brown of the sun sparking off of newly-turned earth. Shoulders and tail are shaded somewhere in between - rich clay that is slow to harden under even the heat of a summer's midday. He moves slowly, with an attempt at grace, as if weighing every step carefully; no sudden, rash decisions for this cautious young brown. He seems to have the seeds of just what is needed to grow into the sure and steady dragon he will become one day. Steadfastness and loyalty are in his countenance, though just born, he seems to have the patience of the master who knows that time, care and love are always necessary for a worthwhile harvest.

Kiani makes her way out onto the sands, shuffling her feet already, and heads directly for Yenne and Evandar. A shaky smile is given to both of them, before she turns to take her place in the semi-circle.

Kaelyn the movement of the eggs grabs her attention now instead of those entering the sands. She watches with great interest and smiles brightly trying to hide the nervousness inside her

Cloretta blinks, "A brown." she whispers in exitement.

Akiko nods her head slowly as she spots the brown. ".. a brown." She murmers in agreement to Cloretta.

Mohria stares at the brown, marveling at the creature.

Mhaul runs a visiibly-trembling hand over his hair smoothly, his eyes taking in the full scope of the Sands, from Candidate to the eggs. His eyes widen at the sight of the brown, letting a weak smile escape to his steeled features.

Zuliah pauses a moment, letting her senses take everything in, before walking quickly to meet Akiko and Cloretta. She doesn't notice the brown until she's reached them. "A brown," she echos, watching it, hopeful.

Kaelyn watches the beautiful brown dragonet

Girad does the dance of the Besandled Candidate, eyes glued all too fast to the shrapnel of the egg and what lies within. The acution of the brown unsettled him - he thought they emerged a little more swiftly, with a target in mind...

Shahryar catches himself holding his breath as the first dragonet emerges form it's egg, he reminds himself to relax and breath. Muttering 'vsc... vsc...' to himself.

Channah stands stock still and then just beams.

Jaxelle blinks as the brown explodes from it's shell.. this has caught her attention to some degree. She lifts the edge of her robe to her face and wipes at it absently.

Kymi blinks only once at the brown hatchling, an aura of awe surrounding her tiny frame at last.

Cloretta's hand squeezes Akiko's.

S'din smiles and nods as the new brown breaks free of the confinement of his shell. He crosses his arms over his chest and watches.

Banran can't help himself and oohs softly at the sight of the brown, marveling at his beauty.

Haiku in Blue Egg seems to pulse, as if it was trying to contain something just a little too small for it inside.

Yenne winks at Kiani, reaching for her hand. The relaxation dissipates quickly though: an egg has shattered and a brown dragonet stands on the Sands. Yenne turns toward the young creatue, unable to do anything but grin.

Dasil shuffles his feet from the heat and from the surprise of seeing so young a dragon up close for the first time. He uses one hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead.

Kaelyn whispers to Jaxelle "This is amazing. Look at him"

The arrival of the brown and of Kiani near Evandar is just too much for the lad to take, his face cracks into a wide grin of excitement as he tries to grab Kiani's hand. "Oh jaysjaysjays," he murmurs mantra-like as it /begins/. Forget the robe that's nearly giving everyone a view of his backside, forget the sands and the heat. There be dragons!

Cloretta fidgetes as a second egg prepares to break. "Shards, but I'm not ready for this." she murmurs to herself.

Matheny tugs on S'rist's hand and points out the obvious for him in her excitment, "And he's a handsome fellow too." she mutters.

Kiani wipes her already damp palm on her robe before she takes Yenne's hand, then, looks wide-eyed at the brown as he hatches. "Shards and shells," she mutters, squeezing Evandar's hand next, unable to help the grin that finally surfaces.

Kymi's eyes swerve to the pulsing egg, then back to the brown, unsure which she should watch.

S'rist smiles and moves his hand from Matheny's and slips it around her shoulders, "Yes, a very handsome fellow."

Abbe smiles at Mohria. "I wonder who he's going to come looking for?"

Mohria nods silently. "Indeed." She breaths, almost on a sigh.

Jaxelle looks to Kaelyn and slowly nods, sweat streaming down her temples. "Mm." is all she manages as she takes a step /backwards/. Jax seems a bit out of sorts presantly, unable to keep her footing well in the hot sands.

Zuliah's eyes widen, and she reaches to take hold of Akiko's hand. "Look... look at that one...." she whispers quietly, nodding to Haiku in Blue egg. But her attention darts back to the brown, watching his every movement.

Haiku in Blue Egg stretchs a bit upwards, hundreds of small cracks appearing on the surface as the eggs structural integrity begins to fail.

Cloretta nods her head, probably in agreement to thoughts, or else the flit on her shoulder, as she watches Haiku in blue Egg, silver flecked storm-cloud eyes flicker to the brown, and then to the egg once more.

Banran's attention slides over to the Haiku in Blue egg now. He watches its cracking with wide eyes, waiting eagerly to see what emerges from it.

Channah says after a moment, in response to Cloretta's statement, with a - joyous, really - smiles, "There is no getting ready for this..." Then she catches her breath at the blue egg's cracking.

Akiko sighs softly, and murmers to Zuliah. "Calm down.. Calm down my friend." She murmers and closes her eyes for a moment, and then opens them again. "We need to just be calm." Oh yes. *now* she becomes the voice of reason.

Loamy Soil Brown tumbles out onto the Sands, somehow rolling head over tail until he lands in a standing position, wings splayed out for balance, covered in the Sands that kept him so warm the past few months. He blinks warily, shaking off the dizziness and chuffing his chest out. Sure, he meant to do that! He would never do something like that on accident, now would he?

Girad looks between the eggs, dragonet, and his fellows on the sands. Each reaction is savoured. And therin lies his own. It is unusual for him to seem so inanimate.

Kymi's eyes once again flicker to the Haiku in Blue egg, breathing deeply to control the rise of excitement in her chest.

Cloretta laughs softly at Aki's comment, "Why?"

Cloretta giggles at the dragonet, "How cute." she murmurs.

Shahryar chuckles at the dragonet's antics, "He's a proud one too."

Kaelyn watches the brown with great interest and watches him with amusement

Mhaul chuckles dryly at the antics of the small brown. Holding his hands behind him tightly, his attention sways to the other rocking eggs, seeing what dragonet hatches next.

Yenne notices another egg, this one blue, rocking. She turns to watch it, giving Kiani's hand a squeeze at the same time. Movement brings her attention back to the brown hatchling, however, the grin reappearing as it does a somersault. "What a charmer, that one, eh?"

Banran can't help himself and giggles, yes giggles when the brown fails in the sand. "Aww.." He murmurs to himself. "Dust yourself off.."

Zuliah nods, smiling nervously as her eyes dart to any movement, watching the Haiku in Blue egg. her attention is grabbed by the brown, and her train of thought is lost. "Oh, look at him..." she says, full of awe and amazement.

Kiani grins at the brown's antics, though it contains a serious undertone. "Now I see why they kept talking about those VSCs."

Cloretta's face passes into calm and cool, but her eyes still dance exitment.

Abbe smiles at the brown. "I think that movement was very nice, ending up in a standing position like that."

Kymi once again looks at the young brown, on the verge of looking back again at the hatching egg. How precious, the tiny thing. None others like it in the whole world...

Mohria grins. "Gymnast, that one."

Evandar's anxiety and nervousness seemed to be lessened by the human touch of Kiani's hand pressed in his grasp. He curls his fingers to return the snug grip and watches the sands, dragonet and moving eggs all with an awed wonder. He's typical in this reaction, but he doesn't seem to notice or care. He tries to hide a chuckle at Kiani's remark.

Both brows furrow on Jaxelle's face, she takes another step back from the circle and turns about in one of her own. Grabbing the front of her robe she begins to fan it, trying to cool herself. Finally she gets back to where the eggs lie and she smiles a bit as she notices the new arrival.

Dasil moves quickly to the left to avoid the arm of the girl next to him. She's keeps reaching out to /Squeeze/ his arm hard with her sharp nails in her excitment.

Kaelyn glances over at Jaxelle with concern and then focuses back on the eggs.

Egg of Steel shudders itself onto one end and with a bounce, rolls across the sands.

Mohria stares at the egg that captivated her so as it rolls across the sands.

Loamy Soil Brown stretches out his forlegs, going forward on them to walk across the Sands toward those white-clad creatures that are all goggling at him. He eyes them all suspiciously. Why are they staring at him? Slowly, step by step, he approaches them, eyes swirling in the red, oranges, and yellows of hunger, fear, and urgency. He croons at them, arriving in front of a tall girl with dark hair from High Reaches Hold and regarding her curiously.

Kaelyn looks at the Egg of Steel leave the mound and takes a small step back for a moment

A foot begins to slip out of her sandal, obviously borrowed because it's a mite too big, and scratches the back of her leg, then goes back to the sandal, getting a little too hot as it sets on the sand. With a jerk, Cloretta puts it back in the /sandal/ and sets her face once more.

Banran looks over to the Egg of Steel when it starts to shudder. He hmms to himself and murmurs. "I wonder what you contain.."

Abbe looks at the brown, more curious than anything now.

Mhaul has no trouble seeing, since he stands between a few Candidates shorter than him. His eyes focus on the approaching brown, and the rolling steel-colored egg. He doesn't seem to notice the extreme heat under his feet yet, too absorbed in the sensations around him.

Lifting one foot off of the sand and shaking it and then repeating the process with the other, Yenne notices the movement of the dark egg as it moves. She looks from Kiani to her other side and sees Dasil. Quietly, she takes his hand and looks back to watch the brown hatchling and his very sharp claws move toward the Candidates.

Girad licks his rapidly drying lips. More eggs seem to be acting in a highly suggestive fashion, but the claws in that curious brown are making him nervous. It is at times like this that his mind might wander to all the stitch marks on the robes. Then, his brain gets into gear and he hops onto one foot. "Yeowch" he comments, and hopes he didn;t look too foolish

Kiani tries to take everything in, but ends up looking from place to place to place instead. "Ooh, look," she gestures at the brown with the hand that still holds tightly to Evandar's.

Channah takes a step sideways, possibly because of the heat, or the movement on the part of the brown, and stumbles a bit, off balance in the sand, before catching herself with a faint, "Phew."

The Haiku in Blue egg pulses and then for one unbelievable moment seems to actually grow larger before it crumbles into so much powder around the form of the still curled bronze dragon that was inside, leaving him revealed on the sands with a look of sleepy surprise.

Volcanic Caldera Bronze

If this oversized bronze hatchling would stop falling all over himself, you would be able to see how stunningly handsome he is! Streams of sulfur and molten mahogany magma flow across this bronze's body from the cinder edged tip of his large tail to the powerful expanse of his shoulders. Hues of deep fir green burst into fervid shades of fiery gold along the ridges of his neck and back like an ancient forest falling beneath the rain of a volcanic eruption. Similar whorls of pyroclastic tincture twine and meld on his sides and back before expanding into twin fireballs of scalded bronze centered in the mainsail of each generous wing. Darkly tarnished and wicked looking wingspars set off the glow of his wings and echo back the gloaming that gathers both around his headknobs and along the underside of his rather impressive belly. Enormous in size, this young dragon has no easy time maneuvering himself over the sands - every step taken seems impeded by his hard to miss tail or uncoordinated and richly hued limbs.

Kymi glances over at the rolling egg, her gaze mixed with curiosity and awe, but only a smite of each. She takes the tiniest step, mostly just shifting her weight.

Cloretta blinks, " A /bronze/?"

Mohria grins. "He's a beauty!"

Akiko looks up towards the bronze, and gives a faint smile before her attention once more flits back to a simple neutral expression. "A bronze." She agrees.

Jaxelle views the hatchlings absently, as if they don't really make much sense to her. Shifting from foot to foot still, she watches the goings on, swaying to some sound only she can hear.

Dasil gratefully takes Yenne's hand as it gets him farther away from the the candidate with her own VSCs. His forehead is dripping by now and he only occasionally tries to mop at it with the back of his hand.

Girad drops his jaw at the egg. "Did you SEE that?" he asks the people around him in general. He looks to the person by him, apparently Jaxelle: "I've never seen an egg do THAt before"

Kaelyn looks at the Bronze "He is wonderful. Look at him Jax"

Shahryar catches his breath, "A bronze!" is all he can intellectually manage to say as he tries to keep an eye on both the bronze and brown dragonets.

Mhaul smiles brightly at the new arrival. "Shards.. are they all this beautiful?"

Banran gasps softly at the sight of the bronze. "Wow.. you're beautiful."

Evandar's eyes are of course snared by the new movement where there was none before. The bronze arrives and the boy's jaw drops. "He's /huge." My, what a remarkable observation.

S'din lets out a low whistle as he watches the newly-hatched impressively-large bronze remove himself from the ruins of his shards.

Cloretta admires the dragonet for a moment before turning to the next pulsing egg. The bronze won't come near her, so more attention can be spent on the eggs.

Kymi's eyes fall on the bronze, genuinely admiring him, enchanted. "A bronze," she breathes. And such a dashing one, too! What lucky young man will that one go to?

Channah adds to Banran's gasp, "Oh - shards - he's so - neato."

Matheny leans into S'rist's side despite the heat and watches with great joy and excitement.

Zuliah attempts to calm herself by breathing deeply. She watches the brown with great interest, eyes catching on the egg of steel, though not resting on it for long. Then... "Oh look! A bronze! He's beautiful!" Her attention is grabbed by him, though her eyes occasionally dart back to the brown.

Jaxelle doesn't seem to notice Girad's question, instead her eyes close to half-mast and licks her dry lips.

Abbe smiles at Mhaul. "I bet our lifemates we'll always consider the most beautiful of them all, if they're waiting for us here."

Kiani gapes, she just can't help it, at the sight of that bronze. "Oh, he's so..." She can't seem to find the words to express quite what she's thinking, so finally just says, "so...not for me to worry about!"

Yenne whistles softly as the blue egg shatters, leaving the little bronze out for all the world to see. "Now that," she whisers, "is one handsome hatchling. Even if he does look a little sleepy." She gives Dasil's hand a squeeze and grins out at the newest arrival.

Kaelyn looks over at the other eggs after looking at the bronze "Someone will be lucky to get him"

Egg of Steel rocks back and forth furiously, digging itself into a sandy rut.

Kaelyn looks over at Girad "I don't think Jax is feeling alright"

S'din paged Matheny and S'rist with 'Do you guys want me to haul Jax off the sands when she gets hurt? I assume I wouldn't just stand by...'.

Cloretta's eyes switch to Egg of Steel, and she perks foreward, waiting to see what color will emerge.

Loamy Soil Brown hrfs with another croon. This girl is not who he's looking for. His eyes start to swirl more quickly. He must find his lifemate, he must! He's hungry and he's overwhelmed by these surroundings! Who are all those people off to the side? What are all those large dragons staring down from the ledges for? Is it always this hot or is it just me? So many questions! He stops at the feet of a tall boy with dark, wavy hair that sticks out in some place and very dark eyes. Perhaps he can answer his questions?

Kaelyn watches the Egg of Steel and chuckles as it digs further into the sands

Banran looks back to the Egg of Steel again, still eager to see what it contains.

Girad looks at Kaelyn and then to Jax. He nods slightly and moves a little closer to the sickening girl. He says nothing, as his eyes keep flickering to the Bronze, wondering if the creature is as startled as THEY are at his appearance

Mhaul nods his head to Abbe, his eyes bright with excitement. "I bet.. I'll never forget this day. Ever." He peers over at the steel-colored egg, making its presence known.

Kymi's eyes shift to the Egg of Steel, blink once, and then relax. That one does seem a bit impatient to get out. What will it be?

The whirling eyes of the Loamy Soil Brown dragon meet those of Shahryar and the dragon trumpets proudly to his new lifemate as the moment of impression occurs.

Evandar barks out a laugh at Kiani's remark, tugging on her hand gently and smiling at her. His eyes are full of excitement and wonder, but he seems less than his usual prolific self tonight, and he just smiles.

Dasil breaths out and then forgets to breath back in for a moment as he stares at the handsome bronze. A cough brings him back to attention and he looks over to Shahryar enviously, "Wow! Way to go Shah!"

Cloretta whees, "Shar! Congratulations!" she calls to the boy.

Channah entirely forgets her location and says loudly, "Oh, Faranth's _wings_!"

Abbe smiles at Shahryar and his lifemate, obviously happy for them.

Kymi's eyes flicker to Shahryar, her lips twitching very slightly in congratulations."

Shahryar blinks for a moment then shakes his head, "No Gyreventh I wasen't hideing form you, I've been waiting for you."

Mohria beams at Shah!

Mhaul tears his sight from the rocking eggs to Shahryar. "Shards... way to go!" Even though his compliment might not be heard, he expresses it anyways.

Kaelyn smiles at Shahryar "Good for you"

Banran looks over at Shahryar and smiles. "Congradulations."

Egg of Steel spins once in its furrow and then begins to shake wildly.

Volcanic Caldera Bronze gives a momentarily sleepy warble, that changes into a more demanding croon as he gets to his feet, nearly falling over onto his side. His eyes whirl slowly as he looks around, the speed of the whirling increasing as he sees all of the white clad figures around him. One more glance down at his feet, they seem to be working now, and he stumbles out towards the waiting candidates.

Mohria turns back to the egg of steel.

Shahryar wraps his arms around the little brown beauty in a welcomeing hug, "You're starving, let's get you something to eat."

Kymi glances back over at the Egg of Steel. The only part of her that has moved considerably has been her eyes.

Zuliah's eyes widen at the Impression. "Oh... Congratulations!" She smiles at the new pair, before turning her attention to the bronze, and the egg of steel.

Wha?? Everyone's turning around and staring... at Shahryar! He waves his free hand wildly at the boy, hollaring his own congrats to he's sure deaf ears. He looks at Kiani, "Jaysjaysjays!"

Girad smiles a very small, gentle smile. "A deserving man. Shah, you're great." then he starts as the bronze awakens. "Oh. Here we go. Little sleepyhead is on the move. Poor love is too big to move almost"

Cloretta grins at the bronze for a moment, giggles softly and whispers, "Cutie." be fore once more resting her eyes on the eggs.

Yenne turns to see the brown choose Shahryar and grins widely. "Congratulations," she calls. "Good for you." The warble of the bronze calls her attention, however, and she looks back to watch him.

Channah practically jumps, she's bouncing so hard, and she just grins and grins.

Kiani calls out a quiet congratulations to Shahryar, lost as it might be in all the rest of the chaos. Then, she looks back over at that bronze again, still agape. Then, she tugs again on Evan's hand and turns to smile at him. "I've never seen that happen so close before. Wow..."

S'din smiles and strides forward to welcome the befuddled newcomer to the ranks of riders, "Congratulations, SH'yar and Gyreventh!" He guides them both to the tunnel.

Banran can't decide whether to watch the eggs or the bronze, so he tries to watch both. His wide eyes go back and forth between both.

Gyreventh rumbles at his new lifemate, crooning with urgency.

Kaelyn watches for a moment as Sh'yar and his lifemate leave and then turns back to the eggs

Shahryar leads his new lifemate off the sands.

Mhaul turns his wide eyes over to the bronze, letting a toothy smile appear as his hands wring at material of his robe anxiously. "And this is only the beginning..." He murmurs lowly.

Evandar just smiles dumbly at Kiani, this getting all too much for him and it's only the beginning. He turns his eyes back out to the open expanse of sands and heaves a colossal breath to steady his nerves. "Jaysjaysjays." Someone slap him.

Cloretta blinks, "He's just the type of guy who'd rider brown." she mumbles.

Abbe smiles brighter now as the impression is made, and looks back towards the sands with, literally, more bounce in her step as the hot sands penetrate.

Cloretta does second best, she reaches over and pokes Evandar in the small of his back.

Volcanic Caldera Bronze gives a shake, he's definately one big little dragon, the poweder that was his egg falling off of him almost like dust. He tries to mince towards some of the candidates, but it turns out to be more like a trundle, his legs not quite ready to support him it seems.

S'din turns back to the sands, smiling and scans quickly for dragonets.

Channah starts to laugh at Cloretta's poke, but the bronze's movement distracts her once again and instead she watches him, her mouth open a bit. She glances from him to his sire and then finally shuts her mouth.

Girad chuckles at the bronze. "Hardly elegant, little one" is all he can find to say, but he looks fond all the same

Jaxelle stops shifting alltogether on her feet, blinking furiously she tries to make sense of things and wipes at her brow. "K..kae?" she takes a stumbling step, "I don't..feel.." that's all the candidate manages as she limply goes to the hot sands, loosing contiousness.

Evandar oofs and turns around to aspy whoever plunged their sharp finger into him. His brows try to congeal together to frown, but it's nigh impossible on a night like this. He missed the culprit and shrugs, turning back around to see the bronze start toddling toward everyone. "Jays." Well okay only one this time.

"Poor little bronze," Yenne murmurs to Kiani, "just look at him. Not quite used to the walking thing." She watches the hatchling and his attempts at walking, shifting her weight from foot to foot to relieve some of the heat that's beginning to seep through the thin soles of her sandals.

Kiani squeezes Yenne's hand as the bronze starts toward the semicircle. "I bet he'll grow out of that," she muses, as she watches him.

Heck, Cloretta is starting to get fond of the big bronze dragonette, "Don't be shy, big guy, someone's waiting for you."

Girad starts and looks at Jaxelle, and with a hop and skip in his sandals, he darts towards her. Never mind the burning sands, she is a sitting duck for annoyed dragonets as she is! "Jax!" he calls, and races across to her

S'din sees Jaxelle slump to the sands and breaks immediately into a run.

Banran looks again to the bronze, a bemused smile forms as it too struggles in the sand. "Come on.. don't let that stop ya, find your lifemate."

Mohria turns towards the comotion, hand rising to her mouth. "Jax!"

Kaelyn looks over at Jaxelle with great concern. Steps towards her, but the eggs grab her attention again quickly.

S'din grabs Girad from behind and pulls him away, "Everyone back off and give her some air!" He lifts her limp form from the hot sands and holds her, his head craning to look for a healer.

Channah looks startled and takes a step towards Jaxelle, but some instruction - or something - echoing halts her and she looks torn instead, staying still.

Kymi's eyes haven't left the Egg of Steel. Is she still alive? She hasn't moved once in several minutes, except to blink and breath, but both of those come subconsciously.

Cloretta is torn between going to Jax and staying. S'din makes her mind up for her.

Volcanic Caldera Bronze turns rapidly, and a bit clumsily, towards the fainting candidate and the one catching her. His wing swings out trying to balance him as he starts to fall, but he doesn't. However his wing does catch Girad across the face and shoulder, knocking him to the ground.

Mohria gasps.

Evandar starts to get the notion that not all is right... a candidate..? "Oh Jayyysssss..." His eyes go wide as the girl collapses and the bronze thwaps Girad! He sucks in a breath and holds it..

S'din curses and settles Jaxelle down and sprints for the tunnel in search of a healer.

Cloretta blinks as Girad goes down, "No!"she whispers, almost in terror.

Banran turns where he is, he gasps at the sight of Jaxelle on the sands and then Girad getting swipped by the bronze. "Oh my.."

Akiko sighs quietly, and squeezes Cloretta's hand tighter. The fact that this is dragging on and on, seems to be wearing down even her patience.

Mhaul blinks several times. Everything happens quickly in his sight, he stands straight and tall. His hands grasps tightly at his robe to keep himself from helping, trying to concentrate on the eggs before him and the approaching dragonet.

Girad usn't put off so easily, and actually gets to Jaxelle, and lifts a hand to her. "sir, no, she's my friend. Please, let me.." but too late! he is gored, and a shower of rich blood fountains from him. He falls, screeching, hand to his face. But, he is still moving..draging himself along with one arm, leaving a smear of blood as hge goes, clutching his maimed face as best he can

Only now does Kymi whirl around, her eyes latching onto Girad, concern rippling across her face. She can only squeeze out the first letter of his name before taking a hasty step toward him. Then she remembers where she is. The healers will take care of him.

Kaelyn takes a breath as Girad falls to the ground and takes a step back

Draconic eyes spin with the yellow of fear until they meet as much of Girad's gaze as is visible and then blossom into the purple hues of devotion as impression occurs between the baker's son and the Volcanic Caldera Bronze.

Girad bleeds. Lots

Cloretta looks at Akiko, jaw clenched, eyes welling with tears. "Girad.." she whispers.

Mohria screams silently behind her hand.

At the exlamations, Yenne looks. She sees a limp Jaxelle in S'din's arms, and watches in stunned horror as the little bronze's wing knocks Girad down. "Oh, shards," she whispers. "No. Don't let him be hurt...."

Kiani's grip tightens on Yenne's and Evandar's hands, both, as she finally catches sight of Jaxelle, and looks up in time to see the bronze catch Girad. "Uhoh!"

Dasil seems a little confused by all the action and motion on the sands, he turns and looks to Yenne and the others when his attention is drawn by a flash of red in the sea of white robes, "What's happened?"

This is way too much for Kymi. She dashes to Girad's side, heedless of the blood. She kneels by his side, grasping his hand.

Channah spies Girad and even the normally fascinated with gore girl looks - upset - but at the sight of the hatchling's look she shakes her head a bit and exhales, "Shells."

Ayanne has arrived.

Kaelyn smiles at Girad "You deserve him Girad. Congrats"

Girad looks up and says softly. "No...no...Behemoth...I'm fine...really...It's a little scrape my love..." he stares at the bronze and smiles even as he bleeds onto the white robes and the gentle bronzee skin

Akiko murmers to Cloretta. "I don't care what they said. I can't just stand here and not do anything 'retta. That is my friend!"

S'din shouts down the tunnel and spins as a cry rises from the sands. His teeth bared, he begins to run back to the Candidates, yelling for them to back away and make room for the Healers.

Banran takes a deep breath when he sees Girad impress the bronze. "Congrats Girad, although not the recommended way.."

Mohria smiles behind her hand. "Oh Girad...congratulations."

Kaelyn steps over to Mohria "Its alright. They'll be fine." Points at the eggs

Cloretta nods adn "Stay, Aki, he's fine."

Evandar finally lets out his breath as the healer and Impression arrives. He squeezes Kiani's hand in reassurance, for himself or her it isn't readily apparent.

Kymi's face is pinched with pride. She squeezes Girad's hand with all her strength, then rises and takes a step back. "Congratulations," she whispers as she turns away.

Ayanne hurries onto the sands, but her pace is slowed as her cane sinks in the unsteady surface. Still, she'd not be here if she wasn't able - and skirting around the edges sensibly she heads for the pair of candidates in need of help.

Zuliah smiles down to the bronze, but then catches Girad. "Girad!" she says, almost yelping, and squeezes Akikos hand. But then... "Oh, Girad! A bronze! I knew you'd do it!" She smiles, beaming proudly.

Yenne's fearful expression changes to one of happiness as the bronze and Girad find each other. "Oh, that's wonderful. Look at them. Congratulations!" she calls out, grinning over at the pair.

Mhaul takes a few steps back, letting the Candidates in front of him move without stepping back on him. He steels himself now, though his eyes offer their congratulations to Girad.

S'din tears a sleeve off his shirt and hands to to G'rad, "Congratulations, G'rad. Bring Behemoth and come this way, we'll take care of you both."

Channah follows S'din's instructions and gets out of the way, moving even further back in the group. She says faintly, "That's making it hard on yourself, half kill your rider." But she grins even as she says it.

Kiani lets out a long sigh as it seems that Impression has been made. "Congratulations!" she calls out, though the expression on her face is difficult to read.

Abbe forgets her concern for Girad for a moment to replace it with relief that he seems alright, and happiness for finding his lifemate. "Congratulations!"

Cloretta giggles, "Well, he is a Behemoth."

Sauscony has arrived.

Sauscony is by Girad, gently pushing the others away. "Let me get to them, please. Give me room.. Ayanne. Would you assist."

Akiko frowns, her face taking on a rather distasteful look of worry. "Cloretta.. that is my friend.." She protests, watching as he is taken care off.

Kymi forces her mind to tear away from Girad and glue onto the eggs, the only truly important thing now.

Girad drags himself upright to sit with an arm around the dragonet. "Of course. You must be ravenous." he mops his face, blood streaked back to plaster his hair down, his upper torso lurid red. "How can you hurt me?"

Cloretta shakes her head, "Akiko, he's fine, really. Stay here. for all you know G'rad's lifemate would plow you over."

Dasil starts to move, thinking he should help but then keeps his place in the half circle as the healers and those in charge take care of things. He looks towards the eggs and then back to the cluster near the down candidates and tries to be more alert.

Mohria smiles towards G'rad and his lifemate, then turns back to the eggs.

Kaelyn begins to shift from one foot to the other standing close to Mohria and watches Girad for one more moment then looking in the stands to Jacera

S'din guides the new rider off the sands in the company of healers and turns, a little more solemn this time as he scans for more impressions.

Banran continues to watch the drama unfold for a moment longer before his attention is again drawn to the eggs, waiting to see what will emerge next.

Matheny moves over to stand a bit behind the healers, ready to help if needed, eyes mostly on the other candidates to make sure they're watching the eggs.

Kaelyn smiles and then looks back at the eggs in front of her hoping that will be the most excitement for the day.

Sauscony has finally reached the pair. "WOuld you see to that one?" Soz asks Ayanne, indicating Jaxelle. "May I see?" This last addressed to Girad.

Despite it's invincible appearance the Egg of Steel is in the end just as brittle as any of the other eggs on the sands. A blue tail soon sticks out of one end of the shell and is rapidly followed by the rest of the dragon.

Swirling Tidal Pool Blue

The many shadings of this blue's gleaming hide swirl together subtly and flow over his hide like the incoming tides of a Pernese sea. The clear blueness of polished, watery topaz covers his face and neck, gradually darkening as it flows down his back and over his long, long tail. Underneath his muzzle and washed over his underbelly and legs, the change is more abrupt as dark follows light, giving the impression of a suddenly deep, intensely blue pool of the clearest tropical ocean, trapped away from the sea to be warmed by the sun. Small oval shadings here and there call to mind the silhouettes of flitting silver-and-blue fishes. This young dragonet's eyes whirl like the eddies that are created by the ebb and flow of the evening tide, making you wonder if the owner's temperament has quite the same turbulence; surely they contain depths that will only be revealed to the one that is invited into them.

Kymi is now wrapped up completely in the eggs again, and one can tell by the expression on her face-or rather, because of the lack of one.

Kaelyn chuckles to herself at the little Blies prediciment

Mohria gasps a bit at the blue. "Oh...oh my..." She says.

Mhaul continues to stand straight and tall, hands held behind him again as he tries to keep his eyes on the eggs. He bites his lower lip, trying to keep from getting involved.

Ayanne arrives soon after the other healer, and hurries to Jaxelle's side. "She's likely dehydrated and overheated, and the hot sands under her aren't likely to help." The Journeywoman notes quickly.

Kaelyn talks quietly to herself "He is a beauty"

Cloretta blinks as a flick of blue catches her eyes, "More male dragons." she mutters to herself, turning her face against Aki's shoulder with one eye to the dragonette.

With a little effort, G'rad stands and rests his hand on Behemoth. "I know. I'm getting to it." with a littl frown, despite the fact he can't even use his left arm, he looks to Suascony. "see what sir? Behemoth is fine, he is just hungry, arent you?" he looks at the bronze dragonet adoringly

Channah's eyes light up at the blue and she - short attention spanned that she is - turns away from where G'rad is getting up, "Oh... he's like the sea on that fishing trip."

Yenne sees that G'rad and his bronze Behemoth seem to have things well in hand. She looks back toward the mound of eggs in time to see the appearance of the new blue, arching a brow. "Look at him," she whispers. "He's a fireball, that one."

Sauscony nods. "Lets get off the sands. Now." She instructs quietly.

Akiko watches the blue silently, and simply stays quiet while all this goes on. Already, so long under the heat, and more.. more. She closes her eyes and murmers. "I'm so thristy, Cloretta." She murmers, and then looks to the dragons again.

Mohria nods. "Like the sea..." She mumbles.

Kiani forcibly turns her attention back to the eggs and the dragonets-wouldn't do to be caught unawares, after all. As the blue hatches, she grins widely, nodding her agreement to Yenne's quiet comment. "He's so lovely," she murmurs. "Look at all those colors..."

Banran turns his attention to the newly emerged blue. He smiles once as he too is a beauty. He chuckles softly at his awkward hatching though. "All beauties."

Kymi's eyes fall upon the blue. Never has she seen such an astonishing rainbow of the same color. How stunning...no, there are no words for it.

Evandar is concerned about G'rad of course, that's natural. But at this point it's also terribly natural to turn your head and make sure nothing like that is coming at /you/. He blinks when the arrival of the blue went totally past him as he's is just all of a sudden there. He squeezes Kiani's hand yet again for either her own or his reassurance.

Cloretta looks at Akiko and uh-ohs, "M'kiko.. no, don't do that.." she looks around frantically, "Don't they bring any water skins?" she asks, rising on tiptoe to see over heads.

Jaxelle continues to lay limply in the hot sands, no signs of regaining wakefulness as the healer looks her over.

Lonely Castaway Egg seems to creak from with, pulsing as hairline fractures begin to show over the surface of the egg.

Swirling Tidal Pool Blue stumbles away from the shell and is overturned immediatedly by his own tail. He croons tragically and spins around to somehow tumble upright.

Kymi does not seem affected by the heat. In fact, it's as though she is shielded from it. She turns quickly to the lonely castaway egg so quickly that her dark hair slaps her face, leaving thin red welts across her cheek.

Mhaul gulps convulsively, starting to feel the piercing heat of the Sands as he notices the appearance of the blue. The smile continues as he takes in every moment before him.

G'rad looks at Behemoth and smiles adoringly. "I'm fine. Really, lovely."

Cloretta is more concerned with Akiko than any eggs or dragonetts, "Someone? Please, get a skin of water.."

Zuliah's eyes gaze over the blue, trailing across him, admiring. "So... so beautiful..." But she looks back worriedly to Akiko. "Yes... skins... you shouldn't be dehydrated in the heat, Akiko," She looks worriedly back to her friend, then scans the surrounding area as Cloretta does.

Kaelyn looks over at the Lonely Castaway egg suddenly with interest and awe

Sauscony's frown deepens as she urges Girad. "Off the sands, Now, please."

Yenne winces at the sad croon from the little blue as he falls, relaxing as he does eventually right himself. "He'll be all right," she says softly, flicking a glance at Kiani.

Ayanne motions to two riders, hovering by the entrance. They hurry close, and under the Healer's instructions lift Jaxelle up off the hot sands. "Let's get her out of here," Ayanne insists.

Banran starts shifting from one foot to the other as he continues watching the dragonets emerge. Unable to stop himself he chuckles yet again as another dragonet trips and falls.

Mohria says "oops." She whispers to the blue. "Easy now.""

G'rad leads his lifemate away, dripping blood onto sand, legs shaky. Judging by his face he is in shock and really can't feel much right now

Abbe smiles. "They'll eventually get used to walking. And I bet quite a bit faster than I did."

Akiko wipes her brow and says. "It's fine. Don't worry. I'm fine." She smiles a bit more and takes a deep breathe. ".. a blue."

Mohria grins at Abbe for a seccond before turning back to the blue.

Kiani lifts one foot to shake the stray grains of sand out of her footwear, and returns the squeeze of Evandar's hand with one of her own. Watching the hatchling turn himself over, she grins, though her forehead wrinkles until he rights himself. "He'll grow out of that, too, I bet."

Cloretta shakes her head, "No, your not, Aki.." in frustration she turns to leave the circle and find a rider who can get a waterskin.

Channah's curls are starting to get a little damp as she tilts her head back between watching the blue and glancing at Jaxelle. She shakes her head a bit and sighs, "Poor Jaxelle... missing _this_."

Sauscony glances towards Ayanne and Jaxelle. "You have this under control?"

Lonely Castaway Egg falls to one side and rolls several meters to settle against another egg, shuddering with poundings from within.

Two riders who had emerged from the passageway lift Jaxelle carefully and start to carry her off the sands.

Kaelyn takes a small step forward more into the group watching the blue and then turning her attention back to the egg that held so much of her attention so few days ago.

Akiko shakes her head and says. "Cloretta. I'm fine." She stops the girl from getting away if she can.

Ayanne follows after the pair of riders carrying Jaxelle, and nods to Sauscony. "Just fine. We'll get her to the infirmary, and see what we can do."

Cloretta sighs and turns back to the eggs, rubbing her eyes softly and then watching once more, lips pursed, white.

Swirling Tidal Pool Blue swings his head around, towards the sounds coming from pinkthings there. An overbalanced lunge brings him close enough to peer curiously at them.

Mhaul stares over at another egg shudders in the Sands, moving one of his hands to wipe at his damp brow. Shuffling his big feet slowly, he watches the blue dragonet with the same eager expression.

"Don't they all," Evandar flashes another toothy grin at Kiani, eyes spinning back to take in the blue and not far behind, the egg that crashed against a sister egg that is hurrying itself up to crack.

Mohria starts a bit at the blue's sudden movement.

Zuliah takes a small step back to follow Cloretta, but reassures herself with something. Instead, she watches her friend closely, making sure she's allright. Her eyes dart from Akiko, to the eggs, back to Akiko.

Cloretta blinks at the blue, "He's going to hurt himself if he continues to do that." she says in dismay.

Maybe the reason Kymi has barely moved is because she finds it a difficulty. Her eyes haven't left the Lonely Castaway Egg, a faint aura of curiosity wrapping her like a warm blanket. At last, she glances to the blue, cautious and ready to move away if need be.

Yenne stops the shifting from foot to foot as the little blue starts to move - and emphatically at that. she stands quite still, watching him.

Lonely Castaway Egg shudders one last time, and then, is settles into an almost eerie silence.

Abbe blinks, stepping back instinctly as the blue lunges towards them. But she stops and smiles at him once she gets through being startled. "Enthusiastic, isn't he?"

Mohria nods.

Cloretta nodnods.

Banran shakes his head in amusement at Swirling Tidal Pool Blue. He murmrs to a Candidate next to him. "He seems to fall more than most.."

Channah looks at the blue and starts to laugh a little bit. She covers her mouth with her hand until she has it under control enough to drop it with just a smile. She says, probably louder than intended, to Evandar, "He looks like he's picking between pastries."

Kiani stops short as the blue tumbles forward, eyes wide as she watches him. "He's watching us. All of us," she finally whispers, looking quite terrified by the idea.

Cloretta giggles at Channah's comment.

Sitting all alone on one side the Lonely Castaway Egg is easy to forget. No more! For now it jumps and hops with the frenzy as the life within it's shell struggles to get out. At long last a devastating crack develops and a small, blue dragon emerges.

Dancing Wavecaps Blue

Even when standing still, this dappled blue-on-blue dragonet seems in motion. His head held high and proud, he stands a little taller than his mates and his eyes whirl a little faster, giving you the strong impression that he might burst with the exuberance he feels. His all over coloring is the clear blue of a calm sea, but here and there -- the tip of his tail, the arch of his wings, his snout and legs -- are dramatic splashes of whitish-blue, the bubbling, dancing, swirling energy of tidal wavecaps just about to curl and crash into themselves. His newly-born form is pudgy and babyish, but the length of his white-speckled tail gives the hint of future leanness with all of the speed and agility that is his birthright. Stand back -- this youngling has enough energy and enthusiasm for three dragonets at once. It is as if all of his time spent inside the egg was only resting and waiting, for this very moment, the moment he and his lifemate will come eye-to-eye and bond forever.

Evandar chuckles under his breath and adds to Channah, "Then I have nothing to worry about, since I was at the stables all day long."

Swirling Tidal Pool Blue gazes raptly into Mohria's face and, as girl's eyes meet dragon's, the bonds of impression are formed.

Abbe grins at Channah. "I wonder which one of us seems most delicious then?"

Mohria gasps.

Cloretta blinks, "Mohria!"

Channah waves her hand frantically and says, "Oh - look - Mohria. Wow."

Banran claps his hands together in excitement. "Mohria, wow, great!" He seems at a loss for words today, too much excitement for him.

Abbe forgets herself and claps, then beams at Mohria. "Congratulations Mohria!"

Kiani bounces on her toes for a brief moment as the lovely blue finally finds his match. "Congratulations!" she calls out to Mohria, sounding quite cheerful again. "Ooh, look!" Evandar's hand is squeezed again. "There's another!"

Kaelyn smiles brightly seeing the blue emerge "Oh look at him. He...he seems so...so..." stands not finding the right words

Kymi blinks slowly at the proud new blue, looks to Mohria as she gasps. Only for a moment, though. She looks back at the Dancing Wavecaps blue, wondering....

Zuliah's widen once again as Mohria's Impression is made. "Oh! Con - Congratulations!" She smiles broadly. "He's so beautiful, too!"

Mhaul slides a huge smile over to Mohria, trying to keep quiet himself. His hands tap at his sides in some kind of silent song stuck in his head, trying to keep his attention on the hatching eggs.

Dasil congratulates Mohria and then does a doubletake as a new blue arrives, "What a handsome fellow!" he comments to nobody in particular, eyes hopeful as the dragon moves free of his shards.

Cloretta whees, "Yeah, Mohr!"

"Mohria!" Yenne grins as the lurching blue turns toward the girl. She barely has time to call out congratulations before another blue hatches. "Oh, just look at him. Out and ready to go. Wow."

Kaelyn smiles at Mohria and touches her arm "I'm so glad for you Mohria"

Mohria stares at the dragon.../her/ dragon, eyes wide with wonder...

Evandar spins to see the blue pick his pastry - Mohria and he grins ear to ear, waving his free hand to her in his congratulations. Then at Kiani's insistance he turns to look at the newest addition to the sands, "Jays, another blue." He's making all sorts of interesting comments this night.

Stormlight Egg starts to twitch, starts to jump, starts to quiver as the hatchling inside rocks the egg in its enthusiasm to escape. A nose pokes momentarily out of a thin crack, but the color is obscured by fluids and darkness.

Abbe smiles at Mohria from next to her. "What's his name?"

Mohria says "Riordanth." She breathes. "His name is Riordanth.""

Cloretta sighs softly as yet another dragon breaks free, and another egg rocks, and what bits of hope she has slowly begin to dim -slowly-.

S'din smiles and calls out, "Congratulations Mohria and Riordanth on finding each other! Come, let's get this little one fed, shall we?" He herds them both gently with his arms and helps guide them out the passageway.

Kaelyn watches the Stormlight egg and smiles at the nose poking out wondering what color it is

Kymi whirls to the Stormlight Egg as it moves. Her lips press together, as if she is ashamed of herself. She straightens and faces it. What color will it be? Perhaps that doesn't matter...

Zuliah watches the Stormlight Egg, and whispers, "Did you see what color that was?"

Abbe smiles as she watches Mohria and Riordanth leave the sands, turning back with a sigh to look back at the eggs again.

Yenne turns from watching the blue to see a dragonet nose emerging from another egg. "Wow, all at once." She grins and peers at the egg, then glances back toward the very energetic little blue.

Mhaul stares straight at the Stormlight Egg. His eyes darken as he remembers that egg fondly from earlier days of egg touching. "Shards..." He whispers under his breath shakily.

Channah sneezes and then says to Zuliah happily, "It's hard to see anything with the dust coming up... oh I think I'm going to burst... they're so..." words fail her.

Banran looks to the eggs again, noticing once more than a dragonet is about to break free. He watches Stormlight egg intently and murmurs to no one in particular. "I wonder what it contains.."

Dancing Wavecaps Blue flicks his damp wings open and BUGLES...well, he attempts a bugle. It comes out more a high pitch squeal. And he darts away from his shells and right for that great big gold thing over there. Is THIS what I'm looking for? His tail swishes in the sand behind him, leaving a little squiqqly rut.

S'rist smiles over at Matheny, squeezing her a bit as he watches all the dragons hatch.

Kaelyn begins to shift from one foot to the other watching the impressions being made around her. Sweat beading up on her forehead from the heat around her.

With a blast of colored shards, a dainty green dragonet emerges from her egg, wailing piteously. Her sharply defined wedge-shaped head swings side to side as she seeks her lifemate. Suddenly, a soft cry escapes a diminutive girl from the BakerCraft. Reaching out to the green, the ex-Baker apprentice buries her face against the soft hide, continuously repeating her new lifemate's name in a wonderous tone.

Kiani's eyes glaze briefly over the Stormlight egg, though her attention turns quickly back to the energetic one hopping all over the sands. Unable to help herself, she giggles at the attempted bugle, and watches him as he stares up at his dam.

Stormlight Egg pokes a nose out again, and now a talon makes a brief appearance as the egg begins to break apart. Was that a flash of green hide, bronze? Blue? Maybe brown? Cracks shiver down the side of the egg, shards beginning to flake to the sands.

Cloretta perks as two eggs burst, two dragonets, one a green, one blue, could either come her way? One dares to hope..

Kaelyn smiles at the little green and her lifemate, but turns her attention back to Dancing Wavecaps

S'din smiles widely and trots over to the new greenrider, speaking softly to her and guiding her out off the sands and into her new life as a rider.

Evandar hiccups at the speed-of-light hatching and Impression of the green. His jaw just dangles. "That fast? /That/ fast?" He looks moderatelt alarmed and turns his gaze outwards yet again.

As more and more dragonets are Impressed, Kymi's hope fades to be smaller and smaller until it is practically nothing at all.

Yenne grins at the attempted bugle from the blue, watching as he wanders over toward Jenryth. "Little bit confused, that one," she mutters to Kiani. "But cute." She shakes one foot and then another, the sweat beginning to run unchecked down her face.

Cloretta sighs, resigned, and watches the blue again.

Even the strong wilt in the heat of the Hatching Sands. A Bendenite boy, solidly built, sweats profusely as his shoulders begin to slump from the heat and stress. The tall Weaver girl next to him has a pained expression on her features since her hand is clasped painfully by the Bendenite. When a portly brown dragonet approaches, the Bendenite's expression turns awed and he tosses the Weaver aside as he reaches for his new partner in life.

Banran blinks at the green impressing and goggles. "Wow.. that was quick!"

Zuliah nods in agreement. "Oh... Oh, a green!" She exclaims, only then adding, "I know what you mean..." in reply to Channah.

Abbe smiles at the blue. "Wrong direction little one, Jenryth is where you came from, not where you're going to."

S'din chuckles softly and extends a hand to the Weaver girl, helping her to his feet as he bemusedly leads the boy off the sands to feed his newly-hatched dragonet.

Kiani chimes in her agreement with Yenne. "Very cute," she affirms, then glances over at Evan, nodding. "Happens that way sometimes. You okay?" she asks, squeezing his hand softly.

A loud *CRACK* reverberates through the grounds as another egg shatters into miniscule parts. The Candidates can't help laugh at the pose the newly hatched blue dragonet unknowingly strikes - tail in the air, wings spread, and head peering upside down from under his body. With hesitant steps to the right, then to the left, then to the right again, the dragonet displays his embarrassment to the laughter he hears. Only the view of his lifemate's solemn features gives him strength. The 'Reaches lower caverns girl finally smiles as the blue settles down in front of her, content that all is well with Pern.

Kaelyn watches the little blue with amusement an then looks over at the loud crack

Mhaul continues to watch the Stormlight Egg with a darkened look. He manages to smile at the quicker Impressions, but his obvious attention is on the egg.

Banran laughs along with the other candidates at the blue's action. He looks over at the girl and smiles. "Congrats!"

S'din almost manages to catch the new bluerider on his way out, but has to go back a few steps to get her attention. She and the brownrider both exit at once.

Kaelyn glances over at Mhaul "Wonder what is in there?"

Evandar bobs his head upanddown in the affirmative for Kiani but then it happens /again/ with a blue. The stars seem to whizz by in his eyes. "Just didn't know it went so fast I guess. Dunno." He gives her hand another gentle squeeze, this time it's fairly certain that he is trying to reassure her.

Cloretta stretches her arms out before her, clasping her hands together and twisting her wrists. Her arms fall to her sides once more with a *thunm* of dead weight.

Yenne chuckles along with the rest at the terribly undignified posture of the new little blue as his egg shatters. She grins as he does figure out up from down and finds his lifemate.

Mhaul nods his head to Kaelyn nervously. "Y-yeah... Kinda curious." He comments dryly.

Dancing Wavecaps Blue pauses in front of his dam and looks up, up, up. No...this is not it. He creels and hops around, nearly losing his precious balance as he turns to peer at those little white things over THERE. Now maybe THEY are what he's looking for. Well, here goes nothing. He zips across the sand and peers at a cluster of said white things. In fact he nudges one with a wingtip. Nah...too soft. He moves to another one and nudges again...nah...too hard.

Akiko wipes at her face again and sihghs quietly to Cloretta. "Calm down.."

Kaelyn watches the little blue and is ready to move out of the way if need be

The old Pernese saying that lifemates start to look alike proves itself with the next pairing. The arrogantly demeanored green hatchling strides from her shards, wings aflutter and shards decorating her head, and immediately approaches a cavalier Telgari woman of slight build and height and uniquely styled spiky hair. Both remain unusually silent throughout the exchange before heading off the sands with the aid of the Weyrlingmaster.

Stormlight Egg breaks apart into three uneven parts, as well as a shattering of sharp shards quickly ground underfoot by human and dragon alike. For a moment it is unclear at the color of the young dragon, but as he, yes he, uncurls, the hue of hide quickly becomes clear.

The shadowy black surface of the Stormlight Egg ripples with movement from within. Tiny striations start to etch into the egg's surface, covering it before small shards begin to fleck away. At long last the shell loses enough small bits that large pieces are freed and sent flying to the sands at the feet of a bronze dragon.

Firestone Mine Bronze

Staying in the shadows makes it difficult to discern the exact nature of this dragonet's color but a momentary pass into suitable light displays a hide of iridized raven-bronze. Foreboding darkness seeps its soul of midnight tendrils over supple hide that drinks in the archerion hues and reflects them back in a beautifully somber nacreous that involves emerald, copper, even saturnine blue - each shade just a breathless whisper from an unheard of blackened bronze. Keeping as out of the direct focus of attention as much as possible, this large firestone-hued fellow makes slow yet powerful strides over the sands as he searches for his lifemate. Ebony honed talons tip claw digits perhaps a shade longer than the average but match well with long arms and legs. So to does his tail reach behind him - a dark line slicing over paler gold sand in an extended length and ending in a perfectly forged, spade shape.

Cloretta looks over to Aki and raises an eyebrow, "I could say the same for you m'kiko."

Channah starts to laugh, just a bit nervously at the blue's - poking - and murmurs, "I hope pastry wasn't a bad choice of thought there."

Dasil looks eagerly and hopefully at every dragon that so much as looks as if it's glancing his way, just case that dragon is looking for him.

Kaelyn whispers softly "Wow look at him."

Abbe smiles and states the obvious, once there's enough light. "Another bronze!"

Banran oohs quietly as yet another bronze emerges from the eggs. He pauses a moment to see the other candidates present and smiles once to Cloretta.

Kymi presses her lips together, just a little impatient for the other eggs to hatch. What about that egg over there, which is practically dancing? Or the other one doing flip-flops? Will there ever be one that she even has a hope of Impressing? No, don't even think of that. You never had any hope, Kymi.

Cloretta grins, "He's going to shove someone over."

Mhaul nearly chokes at the sight of the bronze popping out of the Stormlight Egg. With a quick hand, he wipes the dribbling sweat from reaching his wide eyes. "So, that's what dragonet was inside it.."

S'din turns and sees the firestone mine bronze and pauses for a moment. Then even he is awestruck enough to mutter, "Wow."

Yenne grins as the quick little blue finally moves toward the Candidates and begins testing them out. "Good on you," she mutters, blinking as the black egg shatters to reveal a bronze hatchling. "Shells, just look at him." Yes. And look at the VSCs on him too.

Zuliah giggles at the blue's pose. "Oh my," she says with a faint smile, then watches the blue. "Oh, and another bronze....they're Hatching so *fast*!"

Kaelyn smiles at the strong looking bronze "Jenryth sure outdid herself with him"

Kiani casts another smile over at Evandar, and looks back in time to see the blue poking at some of the Candidates. "Oooh, that can't be good," she murmurs. Her attention is drawn by the oohing and aahing over the new bronze, and she looks over at him as well, then gapes. "Oh...wow."

"Oh it was bronze!" Evandar goggles, "And loookit him! Jaysjaysjaysjays." Ut oh, it's begun again. He lifts his free hand to wipe the dribbling sweat from getting into his eyes and now swivels his gaze between blue hide and bronze.

Dancing Wavecaps Blue creels as he seems unable to find the right white thing. And then he peers up at a young girl with black stuff on her head and nice deep green eyes. He butts her gently. Ah, yes...just right.

Eagerly the Dancing Wavecaps Blue peers into Kaelyn's face. As the eyes of the girl and the dragon meet the moment of impression occurs.

Kaelyn watches with amazement with all the hatching around her

Cloretta's heart is thumping now in her chest, and then grins, "Kae!"

Banran claps his hands at impression once more. He grins at Kaelyn. "Congradulations Kaelyn!"

Firestone Mine Bronze ducks behind a rocking egg, watching from shadow momentarily as he dries, hide slowly unwrinkles, and color lightens from its egg-wet hue. Tail momentarily twitches, then the bronze reemerges, delibertly heading towards a ring of boys and a couple of girls nearby.

Channah adds her voice to Cloretta's, "Oh - Kaelyn - that's so great!" She beams, her eyes almost reflecting bronze, they're so lit up and she's so flushed.

Kaelyn tears of joy come to her eyes and she kneels down to the beautiful blue in front of her.

Mhaul laughs softly, turning his glittering eyes to Kaelyn. "Good job..." His amber eyes flash back to the newly-hatched bronze, stepping a bit closer to the frontline of Candidates. "By Faranth..."

Kymi disregards the new weyrlings. Pay attention, girl. She blinks a few times, feeling as if she is about the size of one of the grains of sand.

Dappled Frosty Gold Egg gives a gentle shudder, tilts toward the right and falls over sideways, slowly, as if through water, then is motionless once more.

Despite the heat, Cloretta shivers, watching the eggs with her lower lip clenched between her teeth,

Yenne calls her congratulations to Kaelyn along with the others, then turns her head, keeping her eyes on the bronze who seems to be heading toward the Candidates. "Proud one, that bronze. Just watch him."

Evandar's eyes catch the Impression of Kaelyn and he lifts his free hand in yet another wave on congrats. Everything is moving so fast his hand is probably in the air all the time. Though he doesn't notice. He offers a passing smile to Yenne and Kiani, his eyes following the movement out on the sands.

"Kaelyn! Congratulations! I knew y'would!" Zuliah smiles fondly at the pair, before letting the other dragonets and eggs grab her attention. "What's 'is name?"

Akiko sighs quietly, and says aside to Cloretta. "Not many eggs left.."

With a screech, a smallish brown breaks his shell asunder, the first few of the rocking eggs to crack and reveal its occupant. As he examines his new surroundings with curiousity, he becomes disgruntled by something only he knows. Down goes his rump in a display of displeasure. Only the croon of his sire, breaks him out of his sand reverie. With a huff, the brown heads directly into the slew of Candidates and selects his lifemate. A boy from the Tailors cries out the new brown's name happily.

Kaelyn reaches out to touch the little blue "So Nepenth....you were talking to me the other day out here on the sands. I could hear you in there"

S'din smiles and trots over to gentl;y touch Kaelyn's shoulder, "Congratulations, Kaelyn and Nepenth!" Smiling widely at the girl's befuddledness, he turns her shoulders to guide her carefully across the sands and out of the passageway.

S'din gathers in the new brownrider as well and guides him alongside Kaelyn and Nepenth.

Channah says with a laugh, "Wow... see... that tailor guy's going to be real good with straps." She waves to him and to Kaelyn.

Kaelyn looks up at S'din and nods and reaches down for Nepenth to follow

An egg cracks, once, twice, thrice in rhythm to its methodical rocking, and pieces of the shell fall away, here and there. Bumping into another egg, that is the final straw and it completely disintegrates. A blue hatchling's head appears, then his body. Shaking a shard from his snout, he looks about him and bugles brassily, a paean of joy. A boy from Boll pumps his fist into the air as he becomes partners with the blue. "Of course! We'll find you some food now." he says, voice wavering. "Of course!"

Kaelyn tries to smile at the others, but her eyes are focused so on her little blue

Mhaul smiles broadly, his eyes drawn to the bronze still. "I bet.." He says to Channah, his hands continues a silent tapping at his sides.

Kymi faces the gold egg, but doesn't dare to hope. Hope only hurts. It leads to disappointment much too often. It's almost as painful as love, but she won't go there. She concentrates on the other eggs.

Dappled Frosty Gold Egg twitches suddenly, startling the closest group of Gold candidates nearby. It bumps against a neighboring egg, jostling that one out of its comfortable place in the egg mound.

Firestone Mine Bronze stretches his neck high, eyes whirling red in hunger and yellow with stress, as several boys step foward to catch the hatchling's attention. He focuses on the boys as he draws near, then looks behind to the next rank. Shortly, oh so shortly, the newly hatched bronze is passing between the boys, seemingly knowing where he is wanted, needed. One wing reaches out slightly, brushing against a Nabol boy, who quickly jumps back.

Kiani's attention remains fixed on the bronze, on the other eggs, *anywhere* but on that gold egg.

S'din pauses for breath, then trots to the new bluerider and congratulates him, guiding him off the sands as he turns and looks for more new riders who may be milling about.

Dasil cheers quietly for Kaelyn and then turns his attention back to the eggs left on the sands, wondering what will hatch. He wipes his sweating hand on the side of his robe.

Evandar /yanks/ on Kiani's hand as the gold egg moves about. "Looklooklook!" Okay so she won't look, but he was looking!

Kymi turns from the Gold egg back to a few other hatching eggs, relaxed now, also wondering why in the world she's still out here. Nope, no reason to be here.

Akiko looks around, and sighs quietly. "Well, that is about all of them Cloretta. Guess we should probably go now."

Mhaul arches an eyebrow at the selective bronze, a quirky grin blooming on his sweat-beaded features. His hands continue to tap a silent rhythm, giving them something to do than just shake.

Banran eyes dart over at the candidate jumping back. Spotting the bronze, his grins broadens before looking to the eggs again.

Yenne is intent on the progress of the little bronze, watching his proud progress along the lines of the Candidates. Evandar's exclamation causes her to look toward the gold egg and her breath catches as she sees it rocking.

Kiani startles as Evandar yanks on her hand, and does glance toward the gold egg, then closes her eyes. "I saw," she mutters quietly, then fixes her attention elsewhere again. "I didn't *want* to, but I saw."

Channah hears Evandar and then looks over at the gold egg. She gives it a kind of distant smile and then gets up on her toes to look over this girl from Nerat's head, so that she can see the bronze.

Cloretta sighs and shakes her head, "Not yet, 'kiko."

Zuliah's eye catches on the gold. "Oh... Akiko... look!" She points towards the gold egg excitedly. "Don't go just yet..."

Nepenth wobbles a bit next to Kaelyn and wraps his tail around her legs, creeling pitieously. He wedges his little blue head under her arm and opens his little maw.

A StarSmith apprentice frowns just slightly as the heat permeates her sandals, distracting her from the humming dragons and rocking eggs. She begins to shuffle her feet, developing a rhythm of her own. Meanwhile, another egg splits open neatly down the center, revealing a brown hatchling of lanky proportions. Tapping with a wingtip counter-point to the apprentice's rhythm, rather politely, the brown looks up into the StarSmith's face, seeming to be waiting for permission to bond with her. "Oh! Oh!" she exclaims, embracing the dragonet.

Akiko blinks and looks back towards the Gold Egg. "Oh? Oh.. Okay.."

Firestone Mine Bronze snatches back his wing as the Nabol lad shies, head swinging in alarm over the sudden movement. The hatchling lets out a small mewing trumpet of surprise, then shifts the other way, his former target forgotten. Instead, rump smacks against the knees of the boy next to the Nabolese. Mhaul is sent to stumbling, maybe even falling. Either way, the bronze dragonet is right there.

A bronze dragonet bursts from an egg, shaking shards from one of his forelimbs and his tail. With a sound that resembles a whine than anything else, he rushes forward toward a group of boys, choosing a lifemate without hesitation. The Fortian whoops as he hears the name of his lifemate echo in his mind. Oblivious to the world, he and the bronze stare at each other, already sharing communications. Only the firm nudge from the Weyrlingmaster draws them back and moves them off of the sands.

Suddenly, Firestone Mine Bronze's whirling glance leaps back to the face of a young trader and impression occurs as his eyes lock upon Mhaul's.

Evandar sees candidates gaze at something 'over yonder' and he turns, easily viewing over his fellow candidate's heads. Oh that bronze! Yeahyeah...his eyes spark with interest to see which lifemate this next one will choose. Mhaul!! YAY!!

S'din smiles and makes a line for the former StarSmith, guiding her off the sands with congratulations.

Dappled Frosty Gold Egg shakes side to side, the awkward angle of the egg exaggerates the movement and forces it lower down the side of the mound. The sand's wake resembles the movement of a Seacrafter's ship, moving through the waters of the Istan bay.

Channah is apparently getting too relaxed because she lets out a whoop at Mhaul's impressing. Then she has the grace to look a bit ashamed.

Kiani's eyes widen as Mhaul Impresses that bronze, and she cheers. "Congrats, Mhaul!"

Nope, nope, nope, nope...the words scream through Kymi's eyes and mind, but hesitate when they reach her heart. She shifts slightly, her eyes turning down to the sands. Nope, no hope at all. No hope. What a dark void!

Mhaul stares directly at the bronze hatchling in utter surprise. "Ummmm... me? Huh? Hungry.. Sidonth?" A smile EXPLODES on his face. "Holy shards!"

Abbe smiles at Mhaul. "Congratulations!"

S'din grins widely as he sees Mh'al impress, "Congratulations, Mh'al and Sidonth!" He claps the young man's back with a hand and points him toward the passageway, helping him along that path until his Assistant Weyrlingmasters can take over from him.

Banran cheers loudly at Mhaul's impression. "Congradulations Mhaul! Wow..wow!"

Zuliah calls out cheerfully, "Mhaul! Oh, congratulations!" She calls excitedly, smiling broadly before turning her attention back to the gold egg.

Akiko smiles warmly, and calls out. "Way to go Mhaul!"

Dasil gasps and then calls out his congrats to Mhaul and his young bronze. The guard feels inspired as he sees so many others that he knows and cares about finding their lifemates and so looks back eagerly to the eggs.

Cloretta claps softly, "Congrats, Mh'al."

Yenne sees the bronze move toward Mhaul and grins widely. "Congratulations!" She laughs outright at the new bronzerider's exclamation. Attention darts back toward the still-moving gold egg, briefly.

A shudder of anticipation trembles over the surface of the Dappled Frosty Gold Egg and then tiny lines start to appear and widen. It's not before the cracks that zig zag their way over the egg's surface compromise the structural integrity and the golden dragon is able to push her way out into the world.

Midwinter Seashore Gold

Seldom perfectly still and quiet - like the tireless lap of ocean waves against a golden bank of sand, this young queen of dragons moves forth from her egg with quick purpose and shakes herself free of frost-edged shards. The majority of this newly hatched dragonet's hide is the tincture of a northern beach's shoreline, aureate sand and tarnished sea grasses not glowing brazen under the scrutiny of a scorching summer sun but gently gilded by the benevolent gaze of a midwinter morning. Kind and gentle dignity radiates forth from the elegant grace of her saffron cloaked tail to the regal tilt of her headknob crowned head. The arete that grows from the majestic nape of her neck to the very base of her serpentine tail is much akin to seaside sand dunes carved into perfect arcs by the artistic caress of winter winds. Large yet delicate looking wingsails glisten and sparkle - a backdrop of velvety sable set with random flecks of castaway amber and ocean polished glass. The same glittering flecks that enhance her wings appear in a more rare manner over her muzzle and again on the very end of her spade shaped tail. Unconventional and yet easy to recognize as orderly and obedient to common rules - this queen carries with her a natural sort of magic that enables her to bring to light the hidden capabilities of the things and people around her.

Mh'al nearly trips on his way with Sidonth, trying to move out of the way so he doesn't get in the way of new dragonets.

Cloretta burries her face in her hands with a sigh and joins in Kymi's denial pot.

Abbe blinks at the new gold, her mouth open until she finally remembers to close it, and to breathe again. "Beautiful!"

Amazing! Are those faint glimmerings in Kymi's silver eyes tears? Since when is that girl capable of those? She wipes at her eyes furiously, not daring to look up at any of the dragonets or eggs, fearing that her hard heart will be broken once more.

S'din lets out his breath with a smile as he sees the new queen burst forth from her shell. He spares a glance for the Candidates, wondering which of them the gold will find worthy of her name and attentions.

Channah's eyes widen and she smiles broadly, "There's a gold," she says with satisfaction and turns to Jenryth and gives her a bit of a thumbs-up, or maybe just an excited wave.

Zuliah watches the gold... smiling broadly as she shows herself to the world. "Look, Kiko, look!" She watches her intently, following her movements carefully.

Banran watches Mh'al and Sidonth leave before looking to the Queen. This he watches with almost relief, for once not having to worry.

"Oh shells," Yenne whispers, just gaping at the gold hatchling as she emerges, queen of the day for all to see. "Oh...shells." She wipes her face on the shoulder of her white robe, eyes never leaving the sight of the shining hatchling.

Midwinter Seashore Gold slowly rises from her shell, languidly stretching out her whole body that was cramped for so long in that confined space. She opens her jaws and curls out her tonue in a yawn fit for the Queen she will become. The young dragonet closes her jaws and with a gracefulness that belies her new-born status and dips her head in a formal acknowledgement to her sire and dam before turning toward the arcs of Candidates before her.

Cloretta crosses her arms under breats and looks at her feet scuffing the sand rather than the gold.

Evandar is waving his congratulations to Mh'al when the Gold hatches, which of course /everyone/ notices. So he turns to look to see what happened. "Oh sharding shells, lookie /that/!! She is gorgeous!"

Kiani squeezes Yenne's hand tightly. "Shards," she breathes quietly, looking both awed and panicked all at the same time.

Dasil ohs softly in admiration of the new gold, for truely he does have an eye for the ladies.

Suddenly, a whispered crackling sound comes from another egg as a series of fine lines spreads rapidly. The egg falls apart from shaking, the bits of shell falling away from the glistening body revealed inside. The green hatchling shakes off the last bit of shell and steps lightly through a sudden opening in the first group of Candidates without a backward glance. Delicate warbles resembling tinkling glass lift through the voices as she searches for her lifemate. Within moments, a young Seacrafter grins brightly and says the name of his lifemate loudly to the crowd.

S'din tears his attention away from the new queen to congratulate the new greenrider and guides him and his new hatchling off the sands.

No, she won't look at the gold. Nor at any of the others, either. She can't bear to look at those that were her potential salvation.

Akiko smiles as she looks towards the Gold, and agree's. "Oh yes, she is a lovely creature I will admit." She nods her head gently.

Kymi's salvation...

Kindred Spirit Egg moves lightly on the sands, drawing attention to itself not by being flashy, but by making perfectly timed hops while staying in the same location.

Banran gasps quietly as he truely watches the gold now. He watches her and the female candidates left with some interest.

Two eggs collide, resulting in two gaping cracks in each egg. Two green hatchlings, at first glance appearing identical, emerge unshaken from the collision. After shaking themselves from the shard remains, the two dragonets make direct steps to a former High Reaches Hold resident and her friend, the Vintner apprentice. Within moments, Impression occurs and two more Candidates turn into Weyrlings.

Yenne keeps shaking her head. "Shells," she whispers as the little queen acknowledges her dam and sire. "Shells," she repeats again. Now she ignores the heat from the sands and her hot feet. And the sweat running in rivulets down her face.

S'din guides both new Weyrlings off the sands to two very similar tubs of raw meat waiting for them outside.

Dasil turns his head to rub his face on the shoulder of his robe and then watches the young gold on the sands, wondering which of the young women he feels like he's gotten to know and respect through the candidacy it will finally be drawn to.

Midwinter Seashore Gold spreads her large, delicate wings, lifts her head proudly and begins the stately walk away from the powder that was her egg. Waitaminit! Something isn't right. Oh, dear. The elegance and grace the young queen had shown earlier disappears as she takes on a new pose. One foot twists to the side as she vigorously shakes it to remove the defiant shard that sticks to it. Within several humorous moments of movement, she is freed and begins her quest of finding her lifemate.

Banran's attention is soon drawn to the hopping Kindred Spirit Egg. He looks at this with waning hope, still eager to see what it contains.

Abbe smiles fondly at the gold as she makes her way towards the candidates.

Kindred Spirit Egg hops a few more times until it grows silent and still again on the sands. Jsut as a young candidate from Boll leans in to get a better look it starts to hop again, scaring the young lad.

Umirieth bespoke all dragons with « Such a pretty little gold down there. Maybe My lifemate will have a gold again. »

Channah presses her lips together. They turn white at the effort. No, she won't laugh. She won't. So she moves instead, shifting her weight a bit... finally she has control of all her features, except those lit up amused eyes.

Kiani smiles reluctantly as she watches the gold turn from elegant to clumsy in the space of a few moments. "She's lovely. She's quite lovely." Then, she catches sight of that rocking egg, and freezes once more, eyes widening.

Yenne grins at the little queens predicament. Can't have bits of shell sticking to our feet, now can we? She finally relents and wipes the other cheek on the shoulder of her robe. Her feet stay still, however, and she watches the little queen's movements.

Something silver wet drops to the sands from Clor's cheek as she watches the gold head away.

An Istan girl uses her foot to nudge a bit of shard that rolled towards her out of the way as a brown dragonet erupts from his egg with a bugle that shakes the very foundation of the galleries. As she touches the shard, it completely disintegrates into glimmering pieces. While her attention is on the pieces of egg, the brown makes his way over to her, step-by-step, inch-by-inch, worming his way through the Candidates. He croons softly until she lifts her awe-struck, tear-streaked face to gaze into his. Impression has been made!

All dragons sense that Tiaeth's humming stops short. « Your lifemate have a gold? »

Evandar is relaxed, for once. He has zero to worry about with this one, so he just watches every single movement, drinking in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Sooty emerald eyes follow her every step, and his brows raise in achingly slow inches as she approaches the girls.

All dragons sense that Prometh chuckles darkly. « Again? What you are not enough for her, little green? »

All dragons sense that Lienth's voice is bright with appreciation -- but more, perhaps, for Umirieth than the little gold -- as he comments, « Mine has two golds, and a bronze. I think it's best for them to only have us, personally. » Funny. That hasn't always been his opinion.

All dragons sense that Umirieth warbles sweetly. « Silly. A human gold of course. »

S'din smiles and touches the new brownrider's shoulder, guiding her gently from the sands, murmuring congratulations and words of encouragement to her.

Banran can't help himself and soon looks back to the Queen again. He is free of worry about her, yet still quite eager to see who she will choose for her lifemate.

The play of shadow and light that is the Kindred Spirit Egg pulsates upon the sands for several moments before it turns to dust and settles at the feet of an eager blue dragon.

Kymi shifts just a little. Maybe it's not so great to give up hope. But then again, if one has no hope, they can't be disappointed, can they?

Crystalline Caverns Blue

Fractured and refracted in a million different lights. A dozen points of reference within the darkness of deep blue nighttime. Rising spires form a wide spread that resembles a flowering field. Amethyst shards are sprinkled liberally amidst lighter stones of topaz and blue tourmaline. A wash of smoky quartz runs through the center of it all. These images transcend upon the hide of this younger High Reaches blue. Wide wingsails are the darkness of a deep cavern breached by glows with light thrown back from hundreds of crystalline shards. Veins of silver run through and down along his wingspars. Wrapping around his forearms they blossom into carved topaz and smoky quartz. The quartz and topaz mix together like some half-breed gem and flows along his chest and underside. Alone his tail the topaz becomes more brilliant and mixes with aquamarine and lapis lazuli. A treasure trove of jewels grown into precise patterns across his stalwart hide.

All dragons sense that Kazeth chips in grumpily, awakened by that Umi-voice, « You're confusing, sweet-tail. »

All dragons sense that Tiaeth turns this around and around in his mind, « You mean, clutch a gold? »

Channah's eye is caught by the blue and the mirth in her eyes turns to admiration, "All the colors..."

Umirieth bespoke all dragons with « thinks quietly. « My lifemate is quite happy with her little gold Anything that makes her happy, makes me happy. And Kazeth..it is simple to understand. » »

Cloretta looks at the blue and dares to smiles, "A miners dream."

Midwinter Seashore Gold examines a Candidate from the Weyr for a long moment before she moves through the initial circle of girls. Her whirling eyes seem to widen as she spots the wavy hair and white robe of the one she yearns for. With a silvery bugle, she stops in front of the girl, lays her wings down and gazes at the One.

Banran turns his attention to the newly emerged dragon. Now here is something he can worry about. A huge smile forms at its colors. "The Weyrleaders should be proud.. all these beautiful dragonets.."

Dasil moves his feet a little quicker on the sands and then likewise moves his attention to the blue as well, only watching the gold from the corner of his eye.

Something happening everywhere... too many things to watch! The queen! Another Impression! A blue! Zuliah's dart between all these. "Oh... that blue... and the gold... and.... oh...." she's awestruck with everything happening around her.

The eyes of the Midwinter Seashore Gold seek out those of Yenne and find in that young girl's gaze the something that causes impression to occur.

Kiani gawps again, standing there with her mouth wide open, as she catches sight of that blue. "Oh, shells. Look at him!" Then, there's that gold. "And her!" SHuffling her feet, she squeezes Evandar's hand.

S'rist watches the gold with a smile, waiting to see which one the gold chooses.

Cloretta sighs as the gold finds herlifemate and smiles, "Yay, Yenne." she says less than half-heartedly.

Abbe smiles at Yenne and the newly impressed gold, happy for the pair.

Channah says loudly, "Yay! Yenne! Wow... people who have cots near me turn into weyrwomen!" She beams happily.

Crystalline Caverns Blue shakes his wings elegantly and then gives his first attempt at a rusty sounding warble before turning his damp muzzle towards the candidates. He looks certainly as nervous as they do, if not more. How is he to find his lifemate in so many bright faces?

Don't look, Kymi mouths silently to herself. You'll only die if you do...Well, maybe 'die' is a bit of an exaggeration, but she may as well...

Banran quickly turns again at what sounds of another impression. Seeing Yenne and the gold he cheers loudly. "Yeah Yenne! I'm so happy for you!"

Akiko looks towards the blue with curious eyes, and quirks a faint smile. Despite it all she is happy enough. Or at least trying to show that. "Way to go, Yenne." She says absently.

Kiani lets out a yelp as the gold stops-right next to her-and picks Yenne. "YENNE!" the name is hollered loud enough for everyone to hear, and she tugs on Evandar's hand even as she drops Yenne's. "Congratulations!"

"Yenne!!! Oh, congratulations!" She gives a fully enthused congratulations before sinking back into a little regret that it had not been her... But she shakes it off, watching the blue with her full attention.

Yenne reaches out with shaking a shaking hand to caress the trustingly upturned head of the young gold. She smiles amidst the tears on her face, laughing aloud at a comment unheard by others. "You're hungry, Temornath. You're hungry and don't you worry a bit about taking time to find me. We're together now and that's all that matters." She reaches out then with both hands to hug her new lifemate.

Cloretta smiles at the blue, tear tracks gleaming in the light. long hair making patterns in the sand as her knees bend a little.,

Dasil lets go of Yenne's hand and takes a few steps away as a whole lot of gold comes into the girl's life. "Congrats Yenne!" he cheers in true heartfelt fashion.

Kymi glances up again. No reason not to see what kinds of eggs hatch, at least. Maybe she should think of herself as a spectator...

S'din claps his hands and leaps quickly to Yenne's side, "Congratulations and welcome to our ranks, Yenne and Temornath! High Reaches Weyr's newest queen!" He hugs the girl briefly, then guides her carefully, with her dragonet off the sands through the passageway.

Egg of Journey begins to shake slightly.

It's Yenne! Yenne? Who he knows from home, squirrely Yenne who used to tease him? Evandar is just about as speechless as he can get. Yenne who.. he... who... well she is beyond him now. Really beyond. His eyes, sooty emerald, shine up with unshed tears of joy and a breathy sob issues from his mouth. She doesn't need his congratulations, she has Temornath.

Kymi glances over at the Egg of Journey, hope beginning to rekindle in her eyes. No, stop hoping, Kymi, stop it, stop it, stop it. Nevertheless, she kinds herself enraptured once again by the trembling egg.

The small egg at the bottom of the mound rocks harder, and the small crack becomes a gap, then the shell splits in two neat halves. A petite green tumbles out at the feet of a young girl from Nabol Hold. The girl hesitates, saying, "VSC!" However, the hesitation passes and she reaches down to help the green to her feet. When their eyes meet, Impression occurs.

S'din turns from the retreating goldrider and dragon to help the young greenrider also stumble from the sands to begin her new life.

A large egg wobbles a few times, and rolls over completely, falling down the mound of sand it was resting on before coming to a slow, gentle stop at the foot of the first Candidate group. A series of cracking sounds are heard, several holes appearing in the egg, each one showing a foot, or a snout, or a tiny wingtip. Finally, limbs push outward with combined effort, and the egg suddenly bursts open to reveal a gangly dragonet, looking about him with blinking eyes. The brown dragonet, highlighted with bronze shading, moves forward, his absurdly long sinuous tail slashing back and forth causing one Candidate to fall over and the other to cry out in pain. The Candidate-attack ends as soon as the Fort Sea Hold lad is found and Impression made.

Channah watches the blue and smiles, "Shells... now see he actually looks kind of young and new."

Yenne still has tears streaming down her face. But she's laughing too. "Okay, Temornath, c'mon. Let's go with the Weyrlingmaster and find you some meat. We'll go fix the hungry thing right away." She ushers the little gold off of the Sands.

Crystalline Caverns Blue spreads his wings as wide as he can and ruffles them to try and draw some attention his way. Me, those wings shake, Look at Me! I'm a blue of blues in all my glory! He trumpets a little, more successful than the earlier noise he made and moves out to peer at a pair of girls hopefully.

Egg of Journey shakes harder, digging itself a little hole in the Sands where it sits. Here and there, tiny cracks appear on its surface.

Banran looks back to the dragonets now that the gold is impressed. He watches with waning hope, hoping his lifemate is here on the sand today.

Abbe smiles and turns to watch the blue that wants everyone's attention so much, and gladly gives it.

Cloretta sniffs, looking hard at Crystalline Caverns Blue as if her gaze can draw him near.

Kiani squeezes Evandar's hand, bouncing in place as she watches Yenne lead her new lifemate away. "Oh, that's so wonderful." Finally, though, her attention drifts back to that blue who's prowling the sands.

Kymi fights the desperate urge to approach the Egg of Journey. Maybe she could beg for it to even look at her. No, let it choose, Kymi. No dragon would want you, anyway

Akiko smiles to the blue, though she allows it to fade once more, and simply watches.

Zuliah watches the blue... then the Egg of Journey. "Ooh, look..." she says to nobody in particular, smiling slightly as he trumpets.

Evandar's free hand reaches up to wipe at his eyes quickly, squeezing them together then wiping his robe. He clasps Kiani's hand just as tight as his attention is swerved back to the present, and to the blue and eggs left still.

Egg of Journey topples over on it's side, cracks covering the entire surface of the egg now. A tap tap tapping can be heard as the inhabitant of the egg works urgently to free itself from the confining predicament.

Two green hatchlings and a brown appear almost at once. In a nearly frantic rush toward the Candidates, the brown falls down, colliding with one of the greens. The solitary standing green approaches a young man from a mountainous cothold near Telgar Hold, making the impression. After a few long minutes of struggle, the brown dragonet and his green sibling right themselves and head into the throng of white. The brown finds a young Igen Weyr girl in the back of the group while his sibling impresses to a boy from the FarmCraft. It is with much effort of the Weyrlingmaster that the three are led from the Sands, paying attention only to each other instead of the Hatching around them.

Crystalline Caverns Blue musters up his dignity and with head held high shuffles through the sands, whirling eyes scanning face after face. He pauses a moment to take a long look at a handsome lad from Tillek, tail lashing has he considers. Just as suddenly he moves on, sensing something special near by.

As more and more of her friends are Impressed, the Igenite finds herself clutching the hem of her sleeve. Another egg breaks up with a loud crack of warning, dropping a blue hatchling. The dragonet falls out of his shards, unable to get up and creels loudly, heard over the sound of voices and eggs breaking. The Igenite starts to run toward the blue, only to be held back by the nearby Candidate from Ruatha. "Let me go!" she cries, fighting to break free from the Ruathan. "He needs me!" Hearing the Igenite call out his name, the dragonet pushes himself to his feet with a grainy warble and hobbles toward the girl. The Ruathan releases the girl with a stunned look on his features.

Not to be outdone by the eggs that have hatched before the Egg of Journey makes a great spectacle of hopping, rolling and spinning before one bronzed hindleg finally kicks a hole in the touch shell. A foreclaw and then muzzle soon follow the leg and then the egg is ripped asunder as the entire dragon is revealed.

Somber Desert Bronze

The desert in the pre-dawn light of sunrise is a silently beautiful place, a moment held suspended between the ticks of Nature's clock. This bronze, who rolls from his cracked shell, is the embodiment of this serene, somber scene, a quiet dragonet with hide mutely shining in the rich hues of metal-gilded sand. Not mute is this young fellow, merely one who will speak only when the time is right, the tick-tock moment important. Deliberate motions swing head high to peer at white-robed Candidates, one red-swirling eye passing swiftly over the unimportant blur, which is the watching audience. Just as the dewy morning desert holds only a faint promise of blistering noontime heat, this faintly yolk-wet, wrinkled hatchling is a shadow of the immense beast he will one day become.

Banran continues watching the remaining dragonets, a soft gasp of disappointment and yet joy at each impression.

Dasil moves in with a few other candidates to close the circle more as their numbers dwindle. He chews on the inside of one cheek as a blue dragon seems to get close by him.

Cloretta isnks to the sands with a muffled sob.

Channah exhales with a sigh of joy and says, "Wow... he looks like home." Then she turns to watch Cloretta.

Without any warning beforehand, an egg explodes! The shower of shards scatters to the farthest end of the Sands with amazing force. A girl hisses as a sharp, jagged shard scratches across her cheek, leaving a deep red path. A blue dragonest warbles upon emerging from his egg, casting off the bits of his shell that still stick to him with healthy disdain. His neck cranes to look around him, not wasting any time in pleasantries. He wants his lifemate! Now! With one jaunty flip of his tail, he steps forward and chooses a Miner to join him in his life's journey.

Abbe blinks and smiles. "Another bronze?" Then her eyes go back to the blue that is still searching for a lifemate.

Kymi takes a deep breath and only shrugs. Just a shrug. No reason to cry. She's no worse off than before. She'll only be leaving the only home she's had for years, the only family she's had for years, and the only hope for returning to her other home that she's had for years. You shouldn't have even tried, Kymi...

A richly colored egg rocks imperiously, burying itself deeper into its mound. As the rocking motion grows, the egg cracks against a smaller one with a loud *THWACK*! The richly colored egg displays a webwork of cracks before shattering, spilling a chunky brown onto his back into the sands. The brown's creeling cry pierces the air plaintively. A Herder leans down to help the dragonet up, not heeding to the warning of his fellow Candidates, and is immediately slashed by one of the Very Sharp Claws he was warned about. Ignoring the wail of pain from the Candidate he injured, the brown rights himself and heads toward the Candidate that claimed his attention - a young boy with the tanned skin of Ista Sea Hold.

The blue is rather closeby, and Evandar has the sudden urge to step back by the notion of proximity. We've all been lectured about the VSC's, he knows. But a flutter of movement ensnares him from just beyond and he turns, eyes clamming onto the newest arrival. "Ohhh jays, lookie." He tugtugs Kiani yet again. Poor girl.

Kiani's eyes go wide as she catches sight of yet another bronze. "Evan..." she breathes, pointing out the bronze. "Look, look!" She squeezes her companion's hands, then searches the sands for that blue again.

Channah jumps and yelps as a shard hits her on the - well - upper thigh. But it was a long distance and, to watch Channah rub at her - upper thigh - she was just thwacked, not impaled or anything. "Shards," she says, and then grins, "Yeah, shards."

Somber Desert Bronze shakes off his egg goo and regards his surroundings cooly. It was alot of work for him to get here and he's not about to rush out and make a fool of himself by hurrying across the Sands! He extends his neck, slowly looking at the white clad Candidates with interest. His wings are held out to the full extent of his glory. Snorting as his clutch brother, the blue who rushed off to join with the Miner, he seems to shake his head is disdain. Such a poor show of draconic nobility! Well, *I* am not going to be so rushed.

A loud thumping can be heard coming from a wobbling egg, and soon after, branching cracks appear in the surface of its hard shell. Although far back in the mound, it is difficult for anyone not to notice this egg now. With a flurry of falling shards, the egg shatters into pieces and a delicate green dragonet emerges from what is left of her egg. The green uncurls, sinuously, lithely swirling to her feet. Her wings are veils of guaze, hiding her eyes for a moment. She stands with ehad bent, contemplatively, then with a flash of her wings, she surges upright. Instantly, her eyes bore into a woman from Southern Boll. With a smile that matches the green's slow movements, she embraces the dragonet. Another Impression occurs.

Kymi softly approaches Cloretta and kneels by her. She gently-so gently-takes the weeping girl in her arms and cradles her against her chest, stroking her hair.

Banran blinks and takes a step back at the shattering egg. Even so his eyes soon go to the blue and the bronze, trying to watch both at once, a faint look of hope still present.

The eggs rock back and forth, each one taking it's own moment to be noticed before a small egg from the center breaks open. A brown hatchling struggles out of his egg, peering imploringly up at several Candidates. He trails down the mound, picking her way fastidiously as he goes. The brown watches everything around him intently, eagerly, his tiny muzzle lifted to call out in a baritone greeting to his dam and sire. Oblivious to the chaos around him, he finds his lifemate in an resident of Keroon Hold.

Cloretta sobs into Kymi's shoulder.

Crystalline Caverns Blue starts forward and then pauses, foreclaw clutching at the air as something *special* causes his attention to focus in. Warbling brightly he turns and makes his way over to a young lady who has dazzled him with her blue worthiness (is there no higher form of praise?).

Eventually the Crystalline Caverns Blue finds himself eye to eye and then mind to mind with Kiani as the joyous moment of impression arrives.

A Crom Candidate realizes that one of her hands is free, and rubs it against her robe, trying to tug the hum down a bit lower. As her fingers rub a nervous beat on the fabric, her attention is drawn to the mound which releases two more greens, a blue, and a brown from separate points. Picking their way across the Sands, the little hatchlings hobble, hop, warble, waddle, wiggle, creel, and toddle toward several awe-struck Candidates. Both greens impress to members of High Reaches Hold while the brown finds his lifemate in an ex-Healer. The blue finally makes his way to the Crom Candidate and impresses. The Crom girl releases the hem of her sleeve and embraces the blue.

"So fast, sofastsofast." Evandar is having a stuttering problem tonight it seems. And then as he is entirely trying to watch /everything/ at once, the blue comes right up to KIANI!!! next to him. His jaw drops to the floor at the beautiful sight so close and he lets go of her hand. "Kiani...' it's a breathless recognition of the perfect moment.

Kymi adds her tears to Cloretta's, although obviously trying to supress them. She rocks the girl back and forth, comforting her in her similar pain. She should have known, she shouldn't have even tried.

Kiani's mouth drops open and she *stares* at the blue hatchling in front of her. With shaking hands, she reaches out to caress an eyeridge, "Oh, Eidanth. You told me... I know you itch, I itch too!"

S'din strides over to Kiani and her new lifemate, "Congratulations, Kiani and Eidanth!" He helps the girl guide her dragon over to the passageway and into the waiting arms of riders outside.

Banran looks over in Kiani's way and unfortunately his congradulations for her is almost half-hearted. "Congratulations Kiani."

Abbe smiles for Kiani, though she does look a bit disappointed, trying to cover it up in the happiness she feels for her fellow candidate. "Congratulations Kiani." She then turns to engross herself in watching the bronze move across the sands.

Zuliah smiles broadly to Kiani. "Oh, Kiani! It's... you've... Congratulations!!!" She calls out, a smile on her face. But it fades again, as quuickly as it became apparent.

Dasil sucks in his breath and then smiles, "All right Kiani!" he rubs both drenched hands on his robe and then breathes out again in a bit of relief. "We're almost done it looks. It's the experience of a lifetime." he seems to talk to nobody in particular.

Kiani turns to guide Eidanth over toward the passageway, murmuring all the while. "COme on, let's get you something to eat and scratch that itch."

Somber Desert Bronze takes those few tentative first steps forward. They're wobbly, as they should be with someone who only hatched three minutes ago, but he's taking his time so as not to fall flat on his face. His wings, so nobly displayed before, are now obviously splayed for balance, as is his tail, which seems to grip at the ground behind him. A rumbling begins to emit from his throat as he arrives in the shadow of his parental units. He pauses to give them each a polite sort of nod, as if thanking them for his very presence on the Sands today. Not waiting for a reply, he begins his perusal of the Candidates, starting at this end closest to his sire and dam. Hmmmm.... which one will be gratified with his being today? He knows there can only be one, and the one is nearby, but which is it?

Cloretta reaches up to her shoulder and pulls the Candidate knot. It gets flung across the sands towards the bronze

Channah finishes getting the sting of the shard out of her leg smiles as Kiani goes with her new lifemate and brushes her damp locks back from her face.

Banran sighs once and turns his attention to the remaining dragonet, smiling at it hopefully, yet a hint of dispair as he faces the beautiful creature.

Evandar is rather dumbstruck (when is he not?) at the closeness of the Impression. He stares at the footprints of Kiani and her Eidanth as they trail off across the sands and a beatific smile spreads over his face. This is what its all about. He's entirely happy as he swings his gaze back around and it settles on the bronze. Oh yah! There is more! And he's got no one to cling to, eigh!

Akiko goes over to Kymi and Cloretta. "You two wanna go? I don't really wanna hear the speech they are going to give.."

The realization just begins to sink in for Zuliah, looking at the dwindling number of eggs. Her expression saddens, and she looks at those remaining around here. She doesn't speak another word, and swallows deeply. "So... that's... it?" her voice cracks, her expression numb.

Kymi continues stroking Cloretta's black tresses, ignoring Akiko.

Without hesitation, as soon as one egg blasts open, another one explodes in a series of cracks, pops, and snaps. A pale green dragonet shakes her way out of the broken shards of the dark egg. Walking with an odd wobbling grace, the green heads over to a young woman from Fort Weyr. The green's eyes even seem to widen, giving her a fixated, compulsive expression as she furrows her way through the sand. Tripping unexpectedly, she lands at the feet of the Fortian. Up and up and up, her head lifts inquisitively and her wings mimic the motion as she stares at the young woman in fascination. The Fortian exclaims, kneeling to murmur the green's name over and over.

Cloretta sigh snad gets to her feet, looking at Kymi and Akiko in turn..

Fissues rapidly spread across the entire shell of a wobbling egg, and the hold widens suddenly and forcefully. The egg shatters in one movement and falling away, exposes the glistening body of a brown dragonet. The brown creels, blinking whirling eyes at the sudden change in his lodging. Well! He moves off, heedless of his stumbling. The brown moves into the middle of the circle of Candidates, thoughtfully considering each one, taking his time. As his gaze falls on a young boy from Ruatha, tears of joy reach the lad's eyes as Impression occurs!

Abbe blinks at Cloretta when she tosses the knot, her eyes going quickly to the bronze and hoping it doesn't startle the poor hatchling and get someone hurt.

S'din smiles and leads the new greenrider to the passageway.

Dasil steps gingerly over to stand near another young man still on the sands and flashes his natural smile as he keeps his grace under all the strain. He can't help but gaze longingly at a green dragonet as she moves by to make her choice.

Kymi rises with Cloretta and steps back, wiping her eyes with anger. Anger at her tears. Anger at feeling sorry for herself. Where will she go, though? What will she do? Of course..the same thing she's /been/ doing. She refuses to look at Akiko, afraid that looking at someone will reveal the weakness in her eyes.

Cloretta wipes at her cheeks furiously as she heads away from the how sands, reveling in the chill against her body.

Banran continues watching the beautiful and arrogant bronze, hoping against hope.

Cloretta heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries.

Somber Desert Bronze wanders along the line of Candidates, taking his time and pausing here and there to regard this boy or that. No, no, none of these are good enough! I need someone strong and masculine. Wait, what is that? Down there? He hurries along the line to a tall lad from Ista, eyeing him critically. Emerald eyes. Golden hair. Rakish good looks? So is robe was obviously not made for him... so what? Does he look as good beneath it? He sticks his head under the Istan's robes, then pulls it out again. Yep, this is him! How could he pass such rakish good looks that would so enhance my own devastatingly handsome glory? He sits on his haunches and just croons up at the young man.

Impression occurs as the Somber Desert Bronze finally meets the gaze of a young lad from Ista named Evandar.

Akiko heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries.

Kymi lingers for just a moment longer...

A blue dragonet, the color of a clear winter sky, steps away from the remains of his shattered abode. The hatchling croons plaintively, tripping of his trailing wing and lands near a a young girl and older lad from the Weyr. With several attempts to rise, he finally lifts himself to his fight with a triumphant bugle! He makes the effort to be considerate and weave his way through the parting Candidates to find the one that is his. As the blue passes the older lad from the Weyr and impresses to the young girl, his expression is a peculiar mix of ecstacy and depression.

Channah giggles at the croon, wriggling happily as she looks around at some of the last impressions.

Abbe smiles. "Congratulations Evandar, and to your bronze."

Zuliah draws a deep breath answering her own question. "So... this is it..." she says quietly, and blinks several times before tears begin to well up in her eyes. One glides down her cheek as she watches Evandar Impress. "Con... congratulations, Evandar," she calls, though her voice cracks again.

Banran turns to Evandar and tries to smile at him. "Congradulations Evandar."

Kymi buries her face in her hands. No more Somit. That vision fades from her mind with the last dragon...

Evandar was looking for something to hold onto, his poor sweaty hands all empty, when suddenly a warm bronze head is available. His body recoils with the primal Impression and he nods, in all seroiusness, "Of course we were Roninth. And we will be together forever."

S'din laughs at the bronze and walks over to pat N'dar's back and shout, "Congratulations N'dar and Roninth! Welcome to the ranks of the Dragonriders of Pern!" He guides the young man off the sands and down the passageway.

Dasil smiles broadly and calls out his congratulations to Evandar. He eyes the sands and is actually hopeful that this means he'll be able to change into regular clothes soon!

Kymi twirls to leave.

Channah practically does a minor dance of joy as she watches Evandar - N'dar - what's his face - Impress.

Kymi heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries.

As the Last dragon finds it's lifemate Matheny and S'rist step forward to gather up the remaining candidates and lend what aid they can.

S'rist gives Matheny's hand a squeeze as they walk over towards the remaining candidates.

Channah turns around to look at Jenryth and Dzurath and beams up at them, "Wow, your kids are so neato!"

Banran looks at the Weyrleaders and sighs heavily. As they approach he just blurts out. "Now what?"

S'din fades back toward the passageway, but pauses to look back over the dejected Candidates milling about and looking lost or confused. He watches the Weyrleaders approach the group.

S'rist waves a hand for the candidates left on the sands to gather over closer.

Abbe smiles at S'rist and Matheny as they approach, though it seems a bit strained. A look goes to the exit, but she waits for what the weyrleaders will say.

Zuliah smiles weakly, but turns on one heel to look for an exit. The sand gets in her sandal, but she doesn't seem to notice. She's numb with pain, but tears fall freely, without notice. She bites her lip, and repeats to herself, "Well.... this is it....." She gives a weak smile to Channah, holding back a glare before she turns back to face S'rist and Matheny.

Channah turns to Banran and says, with a real spark in her eyes and a grin, "What do you think we worked so hard in the kitchens for... Emne said she was going to make her pastry puffs!" She smiles at Zuliah and walks closer to her to give her a big of a nudge, "It's okay."

Dasil moves to listen to the Weyrleaders, always the good guard he keeps his ears open and his mood as good as possible.

S'rist gives a sigh then starts, "I first off want to thank all of you for standing on our hatching sands. I know right now isn't the easiest of moments, but I want to just thank you for giving our dragons a choice of many very good people to find as their lifemate.

Zuliah nods. "I know... what's done's done, anyway..." She smiles softly, then looks back up to S'rist with little interest.

Abbe smiles. "We never know what will come next."

Matheny nods in agreement with S'rist, "You should all be proud of yourselves for having the fortitude to make it this far. You are of course welcome to stay on with us, it is possible that some of you may find your lifemate on the sands in a future hatching.

S'din spins on his heel and stalks down the passageway. The new Weyrlings are now his responsibility, not those here who remain for another hatching.

Weyrleader Ledges(#12138RAJs) A flight of steps worn smooth with time lead up to a broad flat area with enough room for a gold an her consort to sprall and lounge. Openings lead to a room used for conferences, the Weyrwoman's private room, and the hatching sands themselves. A round table of well polished hardwood sits in one corner and is surrounded by chairs. Contents: Roninth N'dar Eidanth Kiani Yenne Temornath Mh'al Gyreventh Sidonth Nepenth Kaelyn Riordanth Mohria Behemoth G'rad(#8301PJOXceh$) Sh'yar Ceres Shaylar Tubs of oil and meat Obvious exits: Bowl Passageway to the Hatching Grounds Council Chamber Weyr Sky

Roninth gobbles down the meat he's offered in a big hurry, crooning for more. Faster! Faster, I say!

Temornath stops her circling and follows Yenne to the vat of oil. She dips her head to peer at the oil. Giving a curious warble, she settles down rather uneasily. Itches annoy her.

Eidanth opens his mouth VERRRRY wide and points it at Kiani for her to fill. He's trying to copy her motions as best he can, for Kiani is the most wonderful person ever.

Mohria is suddenly tired.

S'din steps off the sands and places his hands on his hips, looking around, trying to come up to speed here.

Ceres smiles at S'din, "Everyone is nearly fed and first oiled."

Sh'yar chuckles, "And some are already asleap."

From the sands> Abbe nods and smiles. "I guess we'll see what happens." She looks up to the galleries.

Kiani beams widely, "Good! Now chew, like this." Again, she demonstrates, watching closely.

Ceres says "G'rad will have to be carried to the barracks, he is too faint from the loss of blood."

From the sands> Channah says seriously, "I know what comes... food... wine if you like it... and then _sleep_. Then everyone's real nice to you." She rolls her eyes a bit at the last but doesn't look adverse to it. She adds with a sigh, "And you gotta decide if you're going home or not, unless this is your home, which makes it easy."

S'din smiles at Ceres and nods, "Thank you. They may sleep here tonight. Drudges will bring up pillows and blankets and we can move them in the morning." He looks out over the throng, "Where's G'rad?"

From the sands> S'rist smiles, "Our search dragons are very rarely ever wrong... I know what it's like, my first time on the sands I was left standing, watching all my friends walk off impressed. But the second time... that's when my lifemate found me."

G'rad holds onto Behemoth. "We're fine - we just need more oil"

Ceres says "Oh, okay, he should be okay if he doesn't need to get up again."

From the sands> Dasil grins, "Does this mean we're allowed to overindulge again?"

Yenne starts slathering the oil on Temornath's back, rubbing it in. "There you are," she murmurs soothingly. "Doesn't that feel better? Oil makes your hide soft and not itchy." She chuckles. "And no, you don't have to chew it. Just stay still while I put it on and don't put your nose in the vat all right? You don't eat oil."

N'dar chuckles softy and rubs loving hands all over Roninth as far as he can reach. " Of course! But they make us wear these things for you for some reason. I don't really know the reason either." He chides gently, "Slow down, though, you don't want to get a knot in your stomach. It would hurt." He tries to imagine what it would feel like for Roninth to realize.

Ceres heads over to the oil vat to get another bowl of oil for G'rad, "Here you go."

From the sands> S'rist smiles, "Yes Dasil, in fact you're all invited to the hatching party that should start up shortly... there will be plenty of food and wine..."

G'rad continues the oil quest

S'din hgears G'rad and walks over to him, smiling, "You feel okay? You lost a lot of blood and may feel better if we move you into the barracks right away..."

Kaelyn smiles at Nepenth and hugs him close again "I am getting sleepy as well, but I am so happy that it is hard to fall asleep. I just want to watch you and be close to you"

From the sands> Channah smiles back at S'rist and says, "Wow, and look at what _your_ dragon made."

From the sands> Matheny puts her arm about a young girl from Nabol to comfort her, "You're all welcome to come and help yourselves to the feast or to take something off somewhere quiet if you like."

G'rad looks at Behemoth. "I feel fine" he says, pale as can be, and shaking

Roninth cocks his head to the side and regards his lifemate cooly, as if he'd do such a thing as make a knot in his stomach! Hrm...

From the sands> Abbe smiles at S'rist. "I guess that means that sometimes your lifemate has to search extra long for you, before he's ready to hatch." She nods to Matheny. "Thank you for everything."

Ceres says "S'din, would you like me to go speak with Master Ofira, or to send one, I am sure she is worried about her son, G'rad."

Temornath croons softly with each slather of oil that soaks into her golden hide. She takes the time to look around, checking out who her siblings chose and if they actually made the right decision. After all, only a queen can make that determination, no?

S'din sighs and shakes his head, "No, you'd better get in out of the cold into the barracks. You think you can walk? If not, I'll carry you myself."

From the sands> S'rist nods, "Exactly... I know that sometimes it takes three, even four times, sometimes even more than that."

Shaylar nods at S'din, and she is sidetracked by a new weyrling pair making quite a ruckus over by the meat vats, "K'let! Don't let him in the vat! By hand!" She rushes over.

S'din looks up at Ceres, "Yes, she would probably like that. Just send her a message."

Eidanth chomps his mouth up and down obediantly, he actually gets the hang of it after the first bit falls out. His eyes are locked on to Kiani, following every little motion she makes.

From the sands> Channah stretches a bit, "I'm going to have a swim, shards, it's hot." She realizes she shouldn't be swearing and says, "Um, that is, wow, it's hot."

Ceres nods, "I grabbed Mallea earlier and she sent word to her."

Sidonth yawns, then lays his head down and proceeds to go into snores, which are surprizingly loud for his relativesly small form. Oh-oh./..there may be sleepless nights in the barracks in the future.

G'rad nods to Behemoth. "Yes." he looks at Ceres. "Behemoth says I must get help. Where do I go?"

From the sands> Zuliah smiles to the Weyrleaders. "Thank you.. for everything." With a smile, she turns, hesitating to go up to the Galleries.

S'din nods, "Send her to me first when she arrives, don't send her into the barracks."

From the sands> Zuliah heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries.

From the sands> Dasil grins and then takes a step back, "A swim does sound like just the thing. Are we free to go? Oh, and thank you." he echos Zuliah's sentiment.

N'dar's brows twist together and he looks profoundly worried. "Oh jays, its where the food goes when you swallow it." He taps at his forehead, trying very hard and then he just gives up and points at where his is. "It's here, it's where the food goes and you don't want to eat too fast else it will hurt." Okay, rather bland but to the point. He's very earnest about it, though.

Mohria strokes Riordanth's head, trying to take it all in.

Ceres nods, "Okay."

Mh'al sighs deeply at Sidonth, nudging him with his hands. "Wake up... We can't sleep here."

G'rad watches with a small, affectionate smile as Behemoth wanders away.

Yenne laughs softly. "There. See, oil's good." She takes a moment to look around at the others, grinning as she sees the other new pairs. The one with Behemoth got hurt, Temornath. That's why his color's different. The one with Roninth..well, I call him Ev. He's nice."

Roninth chews slower then, seeming satisfied by his lifemate's response.

Kiani bites her lip to stop from giggling at the meat falling out of Eidanth's mouth. Then, she nods, with an approving smile. "Wonderful! Let's get you some more, you must be hungry."

S'din holds up a hand to Ceres, "I'll get him to the barracks. Behemoth is probably getting sleepoy after being fed and oiled anyway." He walks up to G'rad and extends a hand, "Let me help you up."

Riordanth leans comfortably against Mohria, confident in his choice of the perfect lifemate.

Eidanth sees Kiani giggle and so chomps more vigorously to try and get her to do it again. He doesn't seem to ahve swallowing down though yet.

From the sands> Channah smiles at Dasil, "I'll race you," she says, not waiting for an answer, and takes off.

Sidonth ignores his lifemate. Here is a perfect place to sleep.

From the sands> Channah heads up a short flight of steps to the galleries.

G'rad is hauled upright and falls against S'din. "I'm tired." he says weakly

From the sands> Dasil waves and races off after Channah

From the sands> S'rist reaches over for Matheny's hand and gives it a squeeze.
