History
Big Bay Hold is the place Farideh calls home. Every little facet about the place: the climate, the people, the clothing are all things she adores. Loyalty to home is bred deep into her, extending far beyond the typical familial bond. She was raised by a pair of holders, Korek and Anatolia; her father being the younger brother of Big Bay's Holder, Pavrol. They lived in the Hold proper, much to her uncle's enjoyment. Both brothers worked to run the Hold, picking up where each lacked to sort out the tough spots. It left Farideh and her older sister, along with their mother, to kick around however they pleased. Pavrol never married, nor bore any illegitimate children, so the burden to carry on their family legacy was always shouldered onto the younger brother. Somewhere, some distant cousin's son would be named heir if that safety net failed.
Korek's daughters thrived with the notion that their lives were their own, that they wouldn't be expected to uphold their family's duty by acting Holder. Their mother had other plans, as mothers often do. She was a distant relation to some Blood - very distant - but it always chafed that she had earned the right, just not the title. It suited her to believe her girls, as beautiful as they were, would one day land themselves fancy Lords that she could call family. Teoma was the obedient daughter, rapt in her lessons and always following whatever direction her mother passed down. Farideh was the willful one, unwilling to listen or follow orders, always questioning the way things were. Her mother despaired that she would ever find her a match.
They blossomed into young women and, soon enough, Anatolia's dreams came to fruition. In a surreptitious meeting, Sea Cliff's heir and Teoma met, fell madly in love, and became betrothed not many months later; that's how Antolia saw it anyway. Farideh was incensed! Who were they kidding?! Mishal was a playboy and everyone within Igen's territory knew it; his affairs were legendary. She exerted efforts over the next turn to try and break the couple up, to no avail. A glamorous marriage at Sea Cliff Hold sealed the deal. It was frustrating to Farideh, who thought her sister would never be happy with such a man but her futile efforts only earned her sister's ire. Afterwards, Teoma refused to speak to Farideh, and left it up to their mother to relay any news.
That left Farideh to their mother's schemes. To no one's surprise - save her family's - Farideh packed up her belongings and headed out not long after the ceremony. Her mother tried to plead with her, her father was stricken, but what were they going to do when she left, without a word, and headed off with some bluerider in the middle of the night?
