| Good news: Tillek's tithe has arrived! Crom's has been sighted on the road! Bad news: Well... Well. It seems increasingly likely that there will be no tithe at all from Nabol, something that has prompted some wings to begin gathering in what they can from the fields. It's something-- but it's not much, not really, and it's definitely not official. The stream of Nabolese refugees is continuing, day by day. Some are fleeing by road, heading either towards the Weyr or towards Tillek (and Lady Edeline can't be thrilled about that, surely); others are getting rides with riders. The lower caverns are full and getting fuller, and though the new tithes will help with the food situation... will it be enough? No doubt helping the Nabolese is a good thing to do, in this situation, but there are certainly those beginning to wonder whether in doing so, the Weyr is sacrificing the comfort of its own people. Where do you draw the line? In the midst of all of this, of course, there's a new clutch of dragons on the way - Iesaryth will clutch in another couple of weeks, and even if the Weyr doesn't search outside at all (perhaps it won't need to, with all these Nabolese young people around), there will still be baby dragons to feed at the end of it. |
