Prologue
It was Themis' fault that Fia was stuck on this island, with these people. A dirty place with dirty people, this wasn't the life style she was use to. She had left the weaver craft to marry the man, she would have had to leave the apprenticeship once she started to show anyway, and when he offered to take responsibility for the situation she decided it was best alternative. Now, though, she wished she could go back and slap some sense into herself. They were there for good reason, at least it was justice that Themis was here, and she was forced along. Neither one of them was talking to the others about how they ended up among the lot but the rumors were already starting to float around- Themis had an affair with a close, married, relative of Lord Beradin; Themis had cheated a friend of the Lord Beradin's at a large stakes card game. Neither one of the rumors were too far from the truth, but Fia wasn't about to correct them. Let them think what they wanted.
Description
A ruddy young lad, tall but not unusually. His hair is a dark brown, though naturally lightened by the sun. Little is done to try and contain it, cut at mid neck in the back and worn shaggy. In contrast to his hair his eyes are a light blue, large, round, almost feminine. Nothing else about the male is soft. His shoulders have started widening and his chest is broadening. He still retains a little bit of baby fat around his stomach, though it is quickly disappearing. Skin, tanned by daily exposure to life in the sun, is stretched across his changing form. His face, like his chest, is broadening, his cheek bones are high and pronounced squaring out his face above a chiseled jaw. While he looks like he may turn into a handsome man, his changing physique between boy and man, leaves him looking awkward.
Background
Elgin is the great grandson of Themis and Fia. His father was a fisherman on the island and Elgin followed in his footsteps, though both his parents were lost when he was fairly young, both due to illness. Elgin was already old enough to take care of himself for the most part so his sister, Aella, 7 years younger, was fostered off. They stayed pretty close. He's always been a bit of a schemer. Something about the way things about the island just didn't sit well with him, and now that they have been rescued and are at the weyr he feels like he is on to something. He also sees a bigger world with more room for growth, moving up, and maybe a way to influence the way things are run.
