Stargazing Egg

Although this egg might seem like any other from afar, the closer one gets to it, the more impressive it appears. Shades of perfect, pale ivory and pure platinum white all but glow from within, wrapped in brushstrokes of dark silver that are at once delicate and lively, fiery and soft. The shell's surface appears hazy when backlit, adding to the illusion of a brightly glinting center, an inside burning to get out. At the base, a crinkled navy peeks out from its sandy covering, bleeding upward in slow rivulets, the only darkness on an otherwise shining specimen.

The breathing hole of the Stargazing Egg widens as the metallic talon rakes ruthlessly down to the ground, pushing herself free of her months-long cage and shaking her damp, glistening golden body free of any remnant shells to stand proud, curious, and lively in the lash of her tail.

Sun in Winter Gold

Streamlined in lean athleticism, brilliant sunfire hide stretches thin across her fine, swift form, the blinding gold of light melting a once-frozen landscape. Winter clings to her sleek underbelly and the tops of her paws in mottled shades of white-gold and heated amber, unable to remain consistent as the sun's bold reach claims her hide. Appearing like glistening dewdrops, melted snow graces the very tips of her sharpened neckridges, their lethal descent traveling the length of her long back, past the outjuts of delicately sculpted wings, to smooth and trail off at her double-pronged, playful tail. Long, thin wingspars, wrapped in near-sheer hide, open to reveal buoyant frosted sails that appear as if they could unfurl further but are instead held close, swept back aerodynamically and meant for airspeed. Incongruously wizened ridges arc over her inquisitive eyes, prominent fixtures on an otherwise slim, youthful, and innocent face.

Temperament

Feisty Rielsath, with her childlike wonder and indomitable spirit, will never be known for feminine graces or ladylike obedience. She's a rambunctious, freedom-loving dragon who will never settle for just following orders. She's too nosy, too rebellious: any order she's ever given, she'll question (providing she doesn't just completely disregard it right off the bat). Always shoving her nose into some business where it doesn't belong, Rielsath will have a knack for finding trouble wherever it is, but fortunately, she's just as good at getting out of it again with her wide eyes and innocent air. She's a lovable scamp, a true friend, and a born adventurer.

As a child, Rielsath's particularly irrepressible energy will shine. A tomboy of a dragon, she'll be more at home with the males of her siblings than the females. She doesn't care about being clean as long as she doesn't itch, and she can't abide the silly gossip that many other females are prone to. Rielsath would rather be doing than talking about what others are doing. That's not to say she doesn't have a way with words, however: Rielsath is a natural weasel, able to talk and wheedle her way out of almost any scrape she might find herself in.

That ability, coupled with her engaging personality, will also make Rielsath a ringleader among her peers and a thorn in her superiors' sides. She'll seek to band her friends into a gang that will wage war on factions of all other sorts: the weyrlings not in her little band, on other wings, even the weyrlingmasters. Like a general with her troops, she'll have elaborate plans for how to kidnap Rhadruth's favorite herdbeast or raid Ashmyth's hoard of thingamajigs, and she'll aim her merry band straight into the thick of things-always with herself at the helm, leading the charge. She won't mean real harm, but she will have a knack for mild-level chaos and inconveniencing those around her with various antics. She'll try anything once, after all, with no fear for herself, of physical harm or punishment for her shenanigans.

For all her youthful antics, Rielsath is a true friend, which will become more apparent as she ages and finds herself thrust into the larger world. She's fiercely loyal to her Weyr, disdaining all others; she's even willing to throw aside her oldest rivalries within High Reaches when outsiders threaten. She'll go to any lengths, whatever it takes, to defend her home and her friends, her inherent stubbornness aiding her in that goal.

Rielsath will even learn, over time, some small measure of patience, though unfortunately not until well after weyrlinghood, where she'll be the bane of classes with her restlessness and haphazard attention to what's being taught. She'll glean what she needs--what interests her--from whatever source presents itself, and only as an adult learn to buckle down, to do what she has to do rather than what pleases her at that particular moment.

Yet even as an adult, Rielsath will maintain a certain naivety: a stubborn optimism that refuses to be entirely stamped out no matter how many times she falls short or is disappointed. For all her worldly ways, she embodies hope, her good nature shining through in kindness in her rare quiet moments.

Ah, flights. Rielsath will be a late bloomer, but a sudden one. One day, she'll be fine--almost just another one of the guys, with her rough manners and brash nature. And then suddenly something will click into place inside her, and she'll see the world with new eyes, look at her friends in a new way, triggered by some small aspect that will invert her world entirely. The change will come over Rielsath so completely and so suddenly that it will catch her, and likely you, and perhaps a fair number of the males off-guard. Even after her maiden flight, she'll be prone to slipping back into her earlier modes afterward, and experiencing the same sudden enlightenment all over again next time around.

Rielsath will be as passionate a lover as she is in everything else, throwing her whole heart into that endeavor. But don't expect her to cut the object of her affections any breaks when she finally rises: she'll lead the males on a wild chase, a headlong rush that will end with only the best able to capture her for the moment, never to really tame her. When she clutches, she'll be extremely protective of her children, but at the same time, almost wary of them at times, and leery of her skills as a mother. But as Rielsath will always be a child at heart herself, she will connect quickly with her children when they hatch, and do her best to lead them along the same boisterous path she's taken to adulthood.

Nowhere will the Rielsath's lion-like ferocity show more than when she faces down Thread. She will be quite envious of the fighting dragons, the ones who get to breathe fire and fly on the front lines, resigning herself only after much struggle to the lower levels and the flamethrower. Still, she'll throw herself wholeheartedly into that aspect of the battle once she's realized her role's importance-even if she always wishes she could do more.

Public Impression Message

In a rare moment of regal quiet, Sun in Winter Gold pauses, her slender neck striving to stretch as high as her wing tips reach while her head cocks from side to side in thoughtfulness. Rainbow-filled eyes, inquisitively bright, gauge the offerings before her -- and then her mind is made up, decisive movements animating her low-held, racing body to traverse across the breadth of sands to eventually stop at the feet of a tawny-haired, grey-eyed girl filled with sly, playful mischief. Claimed.

Private Impression Message

The combination of the heat from the sands and the early hour must be getting to you as a sudden wave of vertigo nearly bowls you over, though steadying breaths keep you on your feet at least. A quick glance down brings the blurry focus of your sandaled toes into view for a split second and then it's pitch black. Rather than scary, the enveloping darkness is like an old friend, wrapping about you like a well-loved baby blanket and in the warmth of this love you luxuriate, basking in it and allowing it to wash over you. The fact that you can no longer see is secondary, a matter to be dealt with later. « Of course you can't see! Are you that daft? » Amused, the bright matter-of-fact thought brings with it a tiny pinnacle of light that shines in the distance, hovering, waiting, then fulfilled. Flaring with blinding strength, like the sun cresting over a snow-capped mountain, the light rushes forward: « If you just open your eyes, you'd see that I'm right here in front of you, y'know? » And funny, you don't even have to open your eyes or ask to know that Rielsath is standing there claiming you.

Mindvoice

The assumed refinement of a gold is lacking severely in Rielsath's voice, the slight twang of uncultured youth forever present in the child-like brightness of her thoughts. She's a chatty sort, favoring conversation and colors to highlight her thoughts moreso than imagery and has no qualms at driving straight to the point with her blunt commentary rather than spend hours thinking of the most diplomatic way to say things. Her bright inflection is pleasant in the way a younger girl's might be, which is a good thing for she has a penchant for storytelling, able to prattle for hours in efforts to distract you (or others) or to just keep you company. Her creativity spins off of not only you but everything around her, so her imagination really knows no bounds.

Itchyspots

You'll find that one of Rielsath's greatest itches will lie on the very top of her head, a place that's more difficult to reach as she grows larger, a fact you two might joke is due to the way her speedy thoughts and calculating plans zip inside her head. Just as unsurprising is that her paws will require just as much attention with constant oiling, as she's constantly on the move.

Dragon Inspirations

Your Rielsath is based off of Lyra Belacqua from _His Dark Materials_. Paired to a daemon, similar (in ways) to how closely riders are bonded to dragons, Lyra ventures from the safe confines of her home, where she was a rebellious scamp and athletic tomboy, to fulfill her cosmic destiny.

Egg Inspiration: The fallen star character Yvaine, who is herself magical, from the film Stardust, based on the Neil Gaiman novel.
