Exile FAQ
Contents
How do I apply for an exile character?
Please apply using our usual res app (+lhelp res in HRW rooms on the game). We also require a brief prologue vignette regarding the initial exiles; we are using this to help set the scene. Check out the different character pages for examples of these prologues.
What kind of characters are you looking for?
What kind of character can you think of? If you're not sure if your concept will fit, please feel free to talk to the admin team; we're more than happy to work with you to come up with something that will work for everyone.
High Reaches Hold racial attributes
The ruling family of High Reaches Hold has a roughly nordic look. This does not mean that every exile character must be blue-eyed and blonde-haired!
Who was exiled to the island?
Among other possibilities...
- Active rebels - those who were plotting against Lord Beradin.
- The family of active rebels, whether or not they knew what was going on, or were at all involved.
- Innocents who got caught up in the trials without any involvement at all.
- Unrelated people who were out of favor with Lord Beradin or his immediate family, and were conveniently gotten rid of.
What is the island like?
Barren. Rocky. Cold. This is no tropical island: it's far from paradise. But there are caves and fresh water, and there's plenty of seafood.
Will exile characters be eligible for Search?
Yes.
Is there a closing date for new exiles to be created?
Yes. We will likely be closing off exile applications around the start of our search cycle, in June.
What else is important to keep in mind?
It has been eighty-odd turns since the exiles arrived on these islands: long enough that none of the original exiles are still alive.
What this means is that (with one notable exception) the exiles live in a completely different world from that inhabited by the rest of the planet. It's likely that dragons, weyrs, holds, and everything else taken for granted by most Pernese, are little more than myths (if that) to the exiles.
It is our hope, with this project, that we can play something just a little different.
