Out of nowhere: the clank of chains, the rattle of bones. « Mine wishes to know if yours knows where the Vintner is. » The booze lady. The blonde. « He wants to know that she's safe. » (To Reisoth from Cadejoth)

The reception is a cool one, clearly unwelcome in the sense that Reisoth was not expecting the presence of the other bronze in his mind. « Yes. » That's all he'll offer but perhaps it answers on more than one level. (To Cadejoth from Reisoth)

The lengths of Cadejoth's chains probe, however inefficiently. Note that he's doing this for his rider; he is the one who cares so much. « Would your rider tell mine, if mine asked? » There is, of course, some relief: she's safe. That's a good start. (To Reisoth from Cadejoth)

« Likely not, » is Reisoth's answer in his deep monotone. « If the woman wished for yours to know where she was, I have no doubt she would have informed him personally. » There's the sense that Reisoth hasn't asked his rider, granted, but he likely knows him well enough to speak for him without doing so. (To Cadejoth from Reisoth)

To Reisoth, Cadejoth can't help but share, at this point, some of the churning, boiling concern that his rider is carrying around, both for the vintner and for the daughter: their daughter. « She took his daughter away, » he says. « Their daughter. » As if this should sway a person. (As if.)

To Cadejoth, Reisoth proves to be an unsympathetic receiver of information. But he is attentive, in his way. « Mine is not concerned with the relationship yours thinks he has with the girl. She is more likely sired by mine and he doesn't appreciate yours getting in the way. » In the way of what is up for question, perhaps, but this is Reisoth and he answers as he deems appropriate.

Static travels up Cadejoth's chains; he's bothered by that, on his rider's behalf. « Too bad, » is his reply, whip-crack sharp. « Mine has a relationship with her. He is her sire. » Whatever your rider thinks, so there. « My rider is not in the way of anything. » Though the question hovers, certainly. What does Reisoth's rider want? (To Reisoth from Cadejoth)

There's more than a hint of contempt at Cadejoth's suggestion of sires. « They share no blood. » Though it's entirely possible that H'vier doesn't, either, at least there's a chance. Not that Reisoth is very concerned with that, either. That's all his rider's business. It's the details of the situation that interest him. « Perhaps yours should take it as a hint that the woman doesn't want him involved anymore than mine does. » (To Cadejoth from Reisoth)

« Blood, » declares Cadejoth, « Is not all that matters. She chose K'del to be her daughter's father. She can't take that back. » And he doesn't think she wants to. « She regretted yours. Likely, she still does. » (To Reisoth from Cadejoth)

To Cadejoth, Reisoth is unmoved by the words that might have a greater, more reactive effect with his rider. « People do many things one might think they can't. If she regretted it before, perhaps she regrets allowing yours to think he is the father now that mine has sired her next child. »

Abruptly, there's silence from Cadejoth-- he's surprised. Unnerved. Bewildered, even, perhaps. « Her... next child? » (To Reisoth from Cadejoth)

To Cadejoth, Reisoth seems, finally, interested in the other bronze's reaction to this apparently new news. But his answer is only a simple, « Yes. »

To Reisoth, Cadejoth's thought processes might as well be audible - click, click, whir, one thought after another. Finally; « And she knows it's his? » Can she be sure, really? Can he?

The shift of Reisoth's cool presence might hint at a more physical sigh. « If she regretted her choices with mine so much in the past, I doubt she would have told him that she carried his child now. » Really. This is common sense. (To Cadejoth from Reisoth)

To Reisoth, Cadejoth is silent for several more seconds. « I see, » he says. And then: « Thank you for your time. »

If Reisoth could smile, he probably would be right now. « Always a pleasure, my friend. » (To Cadejoth from Reisoth)

I laughed until I cried. (The good kind.) My SO thinks I'm off my rocker now.

Awesome.
