It's almost too hot out in the Bowl, believe it or not, all sunny and warm with the late afternoon, but it's significantly cooler here in the craft complex with all its shade and stone. Still, the girl waiting in the passageway doesn't seem to be inconvenienced, or at least not by the temperature despite her sleeveless top and short, flirty skirt. And by waiting, Telavi's actually using the spiral staircase to stretch on with an air that says she otherwise could be pacing. The doors to the workrooms are closed. Nobody else is around. She sighs, tucks an escaped strand of hair back into the knitted cap that keeps it all contained, and arches her back into a steep bend like that'll help anything at all.

Hana slips in, momentarily bringing the bright of the day into the cool complex. Slightly flushed, the woman seems to be on a mission as she heads towards the workroom - a mission somewhat derailed by a look of confusion upon spying the sprawled out one. Enough so that she slows down a bit, then with a smile bitten back, clears her throat.

All it takes is the sound of footsteps, and Telavi's flipping back into a more upright position to look towards the sound and even begin to slide to her feet... until she identifies Hana, or rather, identifies Hana as not whoever she'd hoped for, given how what had become a brilliant smile instantly falls. Still, she recovers quickly, and clears her throat. "They're busy in there, if you're looking for them. Some secret craft discussions, probably." At least Telavi doesn't seem to have been listening at the door, or at least not recently.

Hana tilts her head, "Still?" She hms thoughtfull for a moment, then lifts a shoulder. "Just as well it is nothing important." She looks about, then finds a bench to sit upon before looking back. "Waiting for them to finish up?"

"They said," Telavi replies darkly, "that it wouldn't be long. But that was... not not-long ago. I've seen you around, by the way, I'm Tela," and she lifts inquiring brows at the chestnut-haired girl.

Hana nods thoughtfully, "Meetings have a habit of that; I would suggest bearing a snack if you are going to ask a question, but then, you may not be." There is a pause, and a smile. "Well met, Tela - I'm Hana."

"Hana." Telavi's smile blossoms slowly. "That explains quite a bit. I like the embroidery of your dress, by the way, is it your own work or do you just do hair? And if only they had told me there would be a delay, I would surely have brought a snack, but for some reason they neglected to send me advance notice." She rolls her eyes, lightly.

"My name explains? Should I worry about what is being said of me?" Hana asks, the smile growing a bit at the idea, before shaking her head. "Inconsiderate, that is - but yes. Hair and embroidery - my two specialities. And while I can sew - the dress is by another's hand."

"You shouldn't," Telavi says, but there's more than a touch of mischief in her tone. "But you may, if you like. I'm glad we have something in common. Have you found it a terrible shock, adjusting to Weyr life? And please tell me if you'd rather not talk shop, if that's not too much a hairy question." She doesn't quite look at Hana as though she had come from a heretofore-undiscovered continent, but there's still clear interest.

"Somehow, that does not reassure me, my dear," Hana lightly scolds, teasing dancing over the edge of the words, before humming lightly. "It has been... interesting. In some ways, no different, in others quite a bit." There is a pause as she looks over and studies the other woman before asking, "You hail from a Hold too?"

Tela's eyes fly wide, and she looks faintly horrified but, this time, not for effect. "Do I look like a holdgirl?" And then her hand flies to her mouth, hiding a laugh. The tilt of her head alludes to apology without, quite, getting there.

Hana waves a hand, "It could have been a while. It was, however, the easiest I could think upon for us having things in common within the first meeting. Unless, that is, you enjoy hair or embroidery?" Apology unneeded, her answering headtilt offers, but accepted anyway.

Telavi's laugh, this time, is freely given. "I do, though I'm much better at embroidery, and sewing in general. A friend of mine still helps me with my hair, it's terrible how we have to keep it contained, but hers had to be cut so I suppose it's worth it."

Hana reaches up to touch her bun - almost as if to make sure it is still there - then shakes her head, "Having to cut one's hair is a horrible crime. It takes far too long to grow it out, after all. But it is good to find a fellow embrioderer, so to speak."

As Hana speaks, Telavi descends the two remaining steps, her sandals light on the stone. "It's lovely to have a sympathetic ear," she says. "I daren't talk about it in the barracks, I'm too worried one of them will hear and be reminded! I only wish I had more time for embroidery, but they say it will come. It's an Interval, after all, and there won't be classes during daylight forever."

"In the barracks?" There is a pause as Hana tilts her head, before going 'Ah'. "You are one of the weyrlings. With D'kan, N'ky and W'zin. Which explains why I somewhat recognized you as well. I was in the galleries." There is a hmm, and nod. "I have heard about things relaxing a bit after the first turn or so? When that is the case, it will be good for you to already have something to keep busy with."

"I am." Hana's so clever! says Telavi's bright smile, one that widens just a touch as the auburn-haired girl continues. "W'zin? Oh, yes. I'm surprised you could have seen much of anything, although... were you sitting with the Lord and Lady? I imagine that's quite an advantage, and believe me, I agree about keeping my hands occupied. I wouldn't want to be idle," at least not in front of a Holder. "My Solith likes N'ky's Cailluneth a great deal. What was D'kan like, before he Impressed? Or did you come to know him only afterward?"

"We've known each other on and off for quite some time. Usually, however, during the gathers. So I am quite happy to confide that he is a marvelous dancer. And N'ky's Cailluneth is a sweetheart, though I admit - I don't see any of them very often. Something about all that busyness."

"Is he," and Telavi sounds intrigued, though somewhat guardedly so. "I'll have to keep that in mind. Do you find yourself greatly busy, here, compared to how it was at the Hold?" Some sound must catch her attention, or perhaps it's just a touch of impatience surviving even this enjoyable distraction, for she looks past Hana with a hopeful air that turns out to be short-lived.

"Especially toss dances," Hana confirms, before hmming. "One way or another, I have managed to keep busy, yes. Between repairs, outfits, gifts and other projects -- I could almost wish for a longer day. Thankfully, a good cup of tea restores my senses, on that matter."

Hana's clarification has Telavi continuing to look pleased, and at the mention of tea, she has her own wistful sigh. "We used to play holders when we were little, you know, sometimes holding tea parties, and we'd make up such rituals. I wonder how similar they are to what really happens? I expect that stuffed whers don't get their heads chopped off, even for pretend."

There is a small burst of laughter, before Hana places fingers over her own lips. "I'm sorry, but that is probably true. Whers, stuffed or otherwise, have never been harmed in the making of my tea parties. That said, if you ever wish for an afternoon tea, I can often be found in the lower caverns. And any excuse is a good excuse for tea," she adds, getting to her feet.

"Why, thank you. If you don't see me soon, you'll know that my weyrlingmasters have decreed my presence elsewhere to be more important, but surely after that," Telavi says. Then, as though the crafters inside had somehow noticed Hana standing, the door opens for good this time, and people pour out. Telavi gives Hana another quick smile, "Nice meeting you!" and moves quickly to cross paths with a particular woman, older and with great presence upheld by her senior journeyman's knot.

I want to see Telavi hunt down D'kan and demand a toss-dance during the next gather-type-thing. And imagining wee-Tela pretending to behead stuffed whers is too cute. (Where did she get them? Azaylia wants one now!) Hana found a kindred, embroidered spirit! Though if she keeps talking like that folks are gonna think her boss is a real slavedriver. *laughs*
