| Weyrhealer's Office, High Reaches Weyr The Weyrhealer's Office has clearly been recently redecorated; much of the furniture looks quite new. The room has been set out into several different spaces: a desk, with a chair behind it and two set out in front, several bookcases, and then a little sitting area. The hangings on the wall, the rugs, and the fabrics used to cover the chairs all match: a color scheme of purples and reds that aim for warmth and comfort. A kettle hangs above the little hearth that provides warmth to the room, with a small shelf next to it where a collection of teas, as well as mugs and spoons, can be found. The Weyrhealer is just the thing needed at this juncture, and Alida is found padding into the proper cavern after asking for Madilla, the blonde looking a bit pensive. She's still clad in her cutoffs and raggedy, old shirt, flip-flops echoing her steps about the place. The apprentices at the desk in the infirmary are quick to direct Alida towards the Weyrhealer's Office, even if both stare after her with thoughtful glances. The door is open-- Madilla can be seen at the desk inside, her dark head lowered over the records she's presently working through, a half mug of tea held in one hand. A brisk knock is soon enough followed by Alida's voice murmuring, "Need ta see ya quick, 'healer." And in the blonde steps, looking all about before closing the door firmly behind her, then stepping up to Madilla's desk. The no-nonsense posture of the bluie, the hint of concern and utter seriousness in her green eyes speaks of some kind of potentially urgent need. It may say something about Madilla's recent forays into speech therapy that her initial response is a muted, as if on auto-pilot, "'I need to see you quickly, Weyrhealer'," that seems to surprise even her. Certainly, when she glances up a moment later, there's a brief glimmer of apology in her expression. "Alida," she says, then, turning business-like and more intense in an abrupt gesture that has her waving the weyrling in. "Come and sit down. How can I help?" She looks concerned, now, and bites at her lip after she finishes talking. "I'm fine..." is quickly inserted into the conversation when Madilla looks like she's about to go mother hen on the blonde, Alida leaning forward towards the desk so she can drop her voice and keep this little conversation *very* private...even if the door is closed. "You, uh, coach N'ky, right? In his speech stuff?" The weyrling isn't panicked, or even upset...she seems more intense and very focused. Madilla's nod confirms Alida's insertion, but it doesn't ease the expression on the dark-haired healer's face. "I do," she confirms. "We've been working together for a few months, now. Is N'ky all right? What's the problem, Alida-- tell me." She launches right into it, Alida not hesitating at all in this instance, her palms settled lightly atop the desk as she leans further towards Madilla. "We just got done talkin' by the lake. He's... well, I know part uv' his problem's just him being a teen...with all the crap that entails." Eyeroll, sigh. "Anyway...he's tyin' himself up inside over a lot uv things that he feels he can't share with anyone." Clear, deep greens peer deeply into lighter greens, imparting continued seriousness, even if the weyrling's voice is a little offhanded. "He came ta' me lookin' fer...hugs." Snort. "Like *I'm* the type ta' distribute casual affection." "It means he trusts you," points out Madilla. It could be a pointed statement, coming from another person, but the healer is simply gentle with it, letting the words escape as she presses her hands flat onto the desk in front of her. "He knows he can tell me anything," she says, then, meeting Alida's gaze squarely. "He knows I'll listen. I can't make him talk, though. Do you think he's-- causing problems for Cailluneth? Is this something that the weyrling staff should be worried about, too?" She looks a little surprised by the thought of someone trusting her...but soon enough, Alida nods her pale head, then replying low, "Knows and *does* are two different things. Nick's wound up tight about a shitload uv' things: Waki 'n his friendship maybe failin'...thinkin' too much about girls when 'e can't *do* anything...sex." A small scrunching of features might betray her own holder's inhibition about dealing forthrightly with that last subject. A quirk of head and some moments for though presage a murmured, "I told 'im ta lean some on Cailluneth for a little help ta get through things... She doesn't seem bad off ta' me 'r Ilicaeth. They were just playing in the lake." Madilla's short, sharp nod immediately follows the last of Alida's words; throughout the rest, she looks intensely thoughtful, and steadily exhales. "I'll see what I can do. It's hard enough being a teenager, sometimes, without-- he's holdbred too, of course. It's hard for us." It could even be partially aimed at Alida. Or perhaps herself. "I'll try, anyway. I appreciate you letting me know. You're a good friend to him." "He said somethin' about havin' too much to do, too..." Alida notes after Ilicaeth silently reminds her of such, the blonde quieting to listen to what Madilla has to say. As for her being N'ky's friend... "He's the best uv' alla' us." A lift of one hand over her heart speaks silently of why the often hard woman thinks such, her other palm then lightly pushing her up from her lean upon the desk top. There's hesitation for a moment, and the weyrling notes softly to the 'healer, "If you c'n get to the bottom uv' his problems without ever bringin' up the fact that I came in here and *told* ya...I'd appreciate it." Sigh. "But if ya' absolutely *need* ta' inform him uv' such...do it." Nose-wrinkle. "Not like I haven't lost friends before." Madilla blanches at this idea of losing friends over this exchange, and shakes her head violently. "Oh no, no, I'm sure there'll be no need for that. I'll-- work something out, I promise. I like N'ky; I don't want him to be hurting like that." Her nod, this time, is sure. Alida isn't as certain as Madilla, the blonde simply shrugging as she pivots about on the ball of one foot. "Thanks fer hearin' me out. Personally, I'd keep this all between the both uv' ya; likely best fer Nicky not ta get the weyrlingmasters involved unless ya' absolutely have ta, since Cai seems fine." Beat, smirk. "Listen t'the guardy-weyrling, givin' the Healer advice." Snort. "G'day, ma'am." And towards the door - pulled open by old habit from the side, which won't put her in the path of any potential attacks - the bluie paces, soon closing it behind her. |

How I imagine Alida during this: from 0:00 to 0:13 seconds xD
Still, it's nice to see that she does care. And poor Madilla. Her office must be so full whenever there's a new batch'a weyrlings. It's hard being a teenager, don'tcha know.
