Star Stones, High Reaches Weyr(#854RJ) High on the southeastern edge of the Weyr, the Star Stones cast a now-lopsided shadow over the sheared stone plateau that holds them, a hole in the skyline left where the Eye Rock once stood. A watchrider stands guard here day and night, Pass or Interval, keeping an eye out for incoming visitors and inclement weather. Where the Eye Rock once stood, a scattering of debris remains, but nothing else; two dragonlengths south, the silent column of the Finger Rock stands alone, awaiting the balancing of the sun on its tip at the solstice to warn of the imminence of Thread. Between, and set out slightly to the side is the squat shape of the actual Star Stone, with an arrow pointing to where each of the other two stones should stand.

The view from the Star Stones is unparalleled, its closest match that from the southern rim. A full circle around the Weyr can be seen from the Snowy Wastes to the north, to Keogh in the east, the peaks of the Western Range and Tillek Bay to the south, Pars and River Bend to the west. The only way up or down from the Star Stones is a-dragonback.

Warm sunshine and cloudless skies make for a beautiful day and pleasantly warm evening. A breeze tempers the heat with no humidity lingering in the air.

Dawn sweeps. Night watch. Some reason or other has Lia on the Starstones with a bottle of something likely alcoholic and Daehyeth patrolling the skies above High Reaches. It's believable enough that the greenrider's done something or offended someone to garner this lovely chore. Certainly more believable than trading for it. As it stands, Lia seems unbothered, leaned against the base of the Starstones, tipping back to drink quite ladylike from the bottle itself. At least it's a warm night.

There is little sound to herald Rojeth's approach, a dark thing in the dark night, wings slicing through the air in near-silence. Daehyeth gets the warning of his mental touch, like a chill vapor pouring in, and then he's suddenly there, a bit of light glinting off his crooked teeth as he lands. I'zech drops down from his shoulder, boots striking firm and knees bending easily, so that there's almost a spring as he takes that first step toward Lia, though it becomes a smooth amble shortly after and his hand stretches out toward her bottle. For all that he looks unamused, he cracks a smirk at her.

There's a burst of flower petals so dark and deep in their purple shade they seem nearly black as that first chilled vapor intrudes into her mental space. They cascade into Rojeth's mind, riding that vapor down and littering and then settling onto that mental floor. You! It could almost be believed she does actually remember who he is. Maybe she does. Most likely, a dragon of Daehyeth's caliber does not. But it's her rider that vocalizes for her, a wry twist claiming her voice as she utters, "You," while stretching forth that bottle to the smirking man.

The vapor morphs, evaporating under even so light a thing as delicate petals, letting them fall untouched on a floor that is dank and sticky and absorbs them into darkness. Rojeth snorts out a breath and says nothing. I'zech agrees, "Me." He takes the bottle with an errant touch of her fingers that's probably due to the dark, and he tips it to his mouth to slug down a few pulls. The burn of it is faintly audible on the following exhale and he passes the bottle back with a smack of his lips. "On duty?" There's no smile, but a slyness in his tone might make it seem like it should have been 'drinking on duty?'.

Lia lifts herself to her very tiptoes and then eases down after the faintest roll of her shoulders backwards. Does she reach in time to save the bottle from shattering on the ground? Just barely so, catching it by the neck as I'zech passes it over and putting the stopper in place. Level eyes find the bronzerider and the twist in her voice appears in all its wryness in a tiny smile on her face. There's no actual response to his question. "Here to relieve me?" Daehyeth sweeps her wings out and banks about the craggy tops of the Reachian bowl walls, flitting from one side of the bowl to the other and back and forth; not above showing off for her perceived audience of one Rojeth.

I'zech keeps his eyes on her face as she goes stretching to her toes, rolling her shoulders around. But at the appearance of that tiny smile, he rumbles out a quiet chuckle and his mouth starts to curl. "Yeah, I'm here to relieve you," he tells her, dry sarcasm mingled with suggestion. His hand moves to take her wrist, with every intention of wrapping firm fingers around it. Rojeth's eyes whirl slow and pale, reflecting, watching Daehyeth without comment.

This, Lia allows to happen. But there's a rueful shake of her head as she preempts him from drawing her to him by drawing him to her with a flick of that hand. "You," the typically even-keeled greenrider begins, "Never change." And who would have it any other way? But tonight? Daehyeth's rider stretches back and away, pulling her arm to the furthest reach her arm and his arm combined can go. "Tomorrow, if you can pencil me in." Tonight? Well, Lia's never found it necessary to explain herself before. Daehyeth sweeps higher in the sky and then plummets, just for fun, before coming down for a sudden delicate landing behind her rider.

I'zech's smile starts to spread wider, though it's predation rather than pleasure that curves his grin. His fingers remain fast on her slim wrist, even as she moves bodily away from him, and his other hand comes up to... ease the bottle from her grasp. "Sure," he tells her without commitment, just a step toward her as if he doesn't intend to release her, as if he means to press further. And then he lets her go so he can tend to unstopping the liquor again. "You know where to find me," he says with a bitter laugh, though that's probably more for where he's to be found than her temporary refusal. As Daehyeth makes her plummet, Rojeth suddenly takes off, streaming past her close enough that his wings blow a current across hers before he disappears in the dark. Just a changing of the guard?
