>---< Hatching Galleries, High Reaches Weyr(#290RJs) >-----------------------<
Ringing the southwestern side of the hatching sands are ample tiers of
carved stone benches, the lowest of which is some six feet off the ground
-- just high enough to separate wayward hatchlings from unwary viewers,
and vice versa. A metal railing on the outside helps prevent anyone from
falling off; it also extends up the stairs that lead the way higher into
the galleries. While most of the area is open seating, ropes section off
some of the closer tiers when dignitaries are expected; those areas even
feature cushions in the Weyr's blue and black.
The higher one climbs, the more apparent the immense scale of the entire
cavern becomes. The dragon-sized entrance on the ground is dwarfed by the
expansive golden sands that glitter in the light. Everything on them is
easily visible from the galleries, whether that's a clutch of eggs and a
broody queen, or simply its emptiness and the handful of darker tunnels
that lead to more private areas than the bowl. Wherever one sits or looks,
however, one thing is constant: the overwhelming, suffocating heat.
Commands: +list/eggs Schuyler is still dripping from the torrents of rain outside, or rather, he's steaming now that he's sitting in the warm galleries. He leans against the railing, his chin resting on his folded arms as he peers at the eggs. Every once in a while he glances up to give a quick hello or goodbye as others go in and out, though there seem to be less folks now that it's getting later. He cocks his head on occasion as if trying to get a better view.
Schuyler chuckles. "Kinda does, doesn't it?" his eyes go to the sands as well. "Yeah, they're nice too, look at all those colors." he gazes at one of them. "And it looks like a gold too." he says, pointing to the larger one that has been separated slightly from the rest of them. "Mm, It is pretty isn't it?" She says of the gold, egg. "I imagine there will be many who are happy about that," Edyis adds dismissively. "It is hard to imagine that dragons start so small." Schuyler nods "Been a while since we've had one." he agrees. "So...where'd you go? You said you just got back?" he turns blue eyes to the girl, curiosity there. "Not since Hraedhyth hatched, according to the records." She agrees, fingers wrapping over the railing as she straightens up to glance at Sky. "Traveling." Her answer comes with an easy smile, "The slow way, I hitched a ride with a watch rider, but I am due to go back in a few days. I figured it was as good a time as any to explore the options for the future." She steps back from the railing then, turning to settle herself on one of those benches. "Yeah, I like to come look at the eggs. Can't remember the last time I saw a gold. Hraedhyth, huh?" Sky looks out at the eggs again then back over his shoulder at Ed. "Sounds adventurous." his easy smile graces his lips. She grins then, tilting her head to look at the ceiling reflectively. "I wanted to know what it was like, living life as a trader, moving from place to place, so I signed up with some for a while. It is harder than I imagined, but not in a bad way." There's a noncommittal shrug, "It seems to have helped with the restlessness some." Schuyler looks her over. "Nver really been restless myself, but if it makes you happy then good for you." he grins and pushes off from the railing. "Well, if you need any treats for your trip you make sure to find me before you leave. And if you can make it back again we're having a baking competition to test out some new recipes in a couple sevendays." "Maybe that's lucky, being able to be satisfied with where you are at." She responds. "I will, before I take off again. I could make a fortune off those." Grinning now, "Sharing the profit, of course. Sounds exciting, that competition." Schuyler chuckles. "Not supposed to be for profit. For a friend." he grins. "Well, I'll make sure there's a basket ready for you then." he heads off. "Nice to see you Edyis. Hope I get to see you again soon." he waves over his shoulder as he heads out into the rain. |
