| The last tooth in the tunnelsnake's skull proved to be difficult. With a grunt, Zadkiel pried it out and examined the damage. Split down the middle, but not fully broken. Unstable. He hissed under his breath with displeasure. It would have to be sealed. He set it aside. There wasn't enough sinew on the beast's jaw to turn into a proper thong, so he had to acquire a length from the stores. It was a fortunate thing that he had the full day off. He needed it. The first two teeth were centered on the thong. He began to wrap them. His motions were slow. Deliberate. There was no need to rush it. He had time. And it wasn't as if Edyis were expecting the gift. No. He could take a day or two. Three, even. But there would be no need. This wasn't the first necklace he'd made with the teeth of a kill; several were buried in his bag of belongings. Each was significant. Each had a purpose. When he remembered, he would wear them on hunts. Appropriate hunts, of course. A string of whersport teeth; a knotted bracelet with wherry talons and protofeathers. A twisted necklace with tunnelsnake fangs. Always made with the teeth and pieces of his first kill of that kind; always made by his own hands. And, now, this. Another set of teeth. Then another. The last pair were considered and, with a resigned grunt, he studied what he had. The intricate knotting and twisting of the thong was not especially unique. It served well to keep the teeth in place. Utilitarian rather than purely artistic. Another eye might deny his assessment. That eye would have been stared into until it submitted. No matter. He looked at the last teeth again and sucked his own teeth in kind. The last would have to be sealed. Knotted in. Then it would be done. |

That's kind of messed up Al. now finger bones, aren't as likely to smell.
