| Sabella stood on the heat of the sands, felt it burning up the soles of her shoes. She stayed perfectly still as the chaos of the hatching erupted around her in the form of dragonets stumbling, rushing to their lifemates. Her attention was elsewhere when the green bumped into her legs and fell back. Their eyes met. Bang. The sound of doors slamming, thinly paned windows crashing down onto their sills, it rocked her entire mind. The winds howled against the walls, branches scratching against glass. « Sabella. » Throaty and feminine, the whisper reached her. It probed gently like smoke into all the corners of her mind, rustling the cobwebs. « Sabs. » She sensed the rickety roof constructing itself above them both, protecting them. It wasn't really there, but it was. It was Ghislaith. She felt her heart drop; it was equal parts adoration and terror. Ghislaith knew every place that she'd ever been, the things she had done, the way that she felt. There was a part of her mind that was horrified by the closeness. It was acceptance without asking for anything in return and in that moment it was almost too much for to handle. « Shhhh. » She wanted Sabella to quiet her thoughts, to let go. Just for now. And in that want, she found solace in the comforting creek of the dragonet's mind. A soft, soothing sound that drove all fear from her, at least temporarily. |
