| « Now is not the time. » The space darkens between them. E'gin, seated on the edge of his bed, snaps the jewelry box shut. I know. « You don't want her to think it is because she's the weyrwoman, especially if Rielsath rises next. » Fuck, Vys, I know. E'gin growls in aggravation. The brownrider sits staring at the closed box, the corners of his mouth drawing downward. Vysravth is silent for a moment. When he does speak again his voice is felt before it is heard, rumbling through E'gin's mind, « And there are other things to consider at the moment... » It is this comment that finally rouses the man, and he drops the small wooden case into his storage box, slamming the lid shut. Yes, there are. You'll need to train if we're are going to have a shot. « There will be many months to train. » The brown ignores his rider's constant insistence that last time wasn't real. E'gin glances up at the ledge where his dragon waits as he pulls on his riding leathers. Hopefully. « It is decided then? » The rider nods with a smirk. Yes, but if we fail we may not get another chance, they won't be expecting us this time... His brows furrow as he takes a final look at the closed chest, a gift from the weyrleadership at graduation, only a turn and a half ago. Perhaps K'del has given them another gift- even if the weyrleader was unaware this time. « You can give it to her after I catch Rielsath. » If you catch her. In the bowels of the abandoned weyr that occupies their mindspace an ancient machine lurches to life with a groan. « If she rises next, I will catch her. » Zipping up his jacket against Reaches' cold, E'gin heads out of his weyr. |
