Star Anise Egg

The beauty of the star anise is as intense in its way as the scent and taste of the seeds. This large egg appears to have been encrusted with the starry like forms, each radiating branch cradling a small, black seed in its shrouded depths. Overlapping, overlying, or sometimes distinct, perfect in its simplicity, the design appears to have been carefully lacquered onto the egg's surface.

The Star Anise Egg seems to implode, shards falling into a huge hole at the top. A head emerges, and shoulders follow, muscling the egg into pieces.

It is immediately obvious that this particular brown dragonet differs from the standard. Patterns of fanciful swirls and rings of warm, caramel brown overlap with others of a rich, cinnabar color, giving the dragon the impression of being carved from rare myrtlewood. Like that soft, malleable wood, this fetching creature appears to be similarly changeable, attention diverted from place to place, sound to sound easily. His small form is lithe and lean, with a whip-like tail that is never still.
