After a series of frantic rocks and wobbles, the egg stops as if to gather its remaining energy. With a tremendous *crack*, the egg errupts, sending a shower of shell fragments every which way and depositing a Mahogany Brown Hatchling onto the sands.

Mahogany Brown Hatchling

This brown hatchling, right from the shell, is uncannily like an animated piece of wood. He is the rich brown color of mahogany that has been waxed and burnished for many turns. The smallest amount of light causes his hide to glow with a warmth much like velvet sunlight falling on a polished wooden floor on a lazy summer afternoon. Darker brown striations can be seen striping his hide, patterns of grain in the warm living wood. His rangy body is graceful even as he takes his first wobbly steps. The ebb and flow of smooth muscle moving under the brown hide define the fluid movements that will be his in adulthood.

Public Impression Message

Mahogany Brown Hatchling walks past a few more Candidates. He suddenly stops, as if he hears something. He turns to look over his shoulder questioningly, crooning. He turns around and barrels back across the sand, flopping into a sitting position directly in front of Rhyana. He looks up at her, staring into her eyes as if fascinated.
