Water Wins Out Egg

Artistic reliefs of light and dark play across the surface of this egg. Where it is light, it is luminous; where it is dark, it is deep. Though what angles there are in its amber planes and shadowed darkness are sharp, pointed whether upward or downward, the dominant texture of the egg is bizarre and beauteous: all drips and curves, as though the surface had been washed unevenly and left to be worn away by the whimsical, unflagging caress of time.

Scheming Siren's Song Green

A subtle creature to look at, though certainly not average, this hatchling is draped in the palest shade of grey-green to be imagined, from the beak-like tip of her sharp muzzle, all the way back to the length of her slim tail. It's a peculiar color that warrants a second look, especially with the way her celadon tone creeps into darker hints of green-blue in what seems like strategic places: the pinions of her wings, to swoop in a painter's broad strokes along the sails that comprise the majority of her overlarge wings; near the sharp threat of her dark claws; along her eyeridges and just behind her headknobs. She looks as if she were set in a kiln, glossy in her pallor, well-balanced and attractive. She is a large dragon, even so new from the shell: not fat, simply larger than many of her counterparts; her build speaks of stamina, if not the agility and sleek speed of other greens.

Temperament

Only slightly less bitchy than Yesia.

Public Impression Message

The hatching begins with a bang: the Water Wins Out Egg explodes in a flurry of shards before the candidates have even made it all the way out onto the sands. The celadon green within takes two step forwards, startles herself with her own wings, and then all but throws herself in Yesia's direction (shoving, forcefully, past Laine as she goes). Does that count as auspicious?

Mindvoice

Aeaeth's mind is oddly chaotic, her voice confusing: she is melodic synesthesia, disorienting and confusing. She is sound, yes, and simultaneously she is color--beckoning and beautiful soprano notes of gentle amber, shrill shrieks of red fury, soft tendrils of silver when she whispers, so gently, of a secret only she can tell--and all of this is reflecting, on mirrors and smooth stone walls, until it becomes very difficult to navigate what she's saying and what she means. Even for those who speak to her frequently enough to be able to parse out the exact colors and sounds around her words, there is often the sensation that she is still hiding something, sharing whispered secrets to someone else even while she is talking to you.

Dragon Inspirations

Mean Girls Gretchen Wiener and Cady Heron meet siren lore--specifically the trio in The Odyssey. Her name, Aeaeth (ay-eth), is a nod to Circe's island of Aeaea, Odysseus' destination when he was waylaid by a trio of sirens off the coast. Aeaeth's mindvoice is largely inspired by Margaret Atwood's Siren Song, with a not-very-subtle nod to the Carlsbad Caverns, specifically light refractions and the odd disorientation that happens in underwater caves.
