| Although the sun isn't quite as hot as in summer, the sunning spot is still a good place to work on a tan in the afternoon, so it probably isn't a surprise that Reesa and Khiabeth are here. The green's hide is shining with a recent oiling, while Reesa - wearing a yellow sundress - is stretched out on her back on a towel to one side of the dragon, soaking up the sun. Far be it for E'ten to suggest and have Adiulth second the same thoughts of wanting at least one of them to take it easy. On the other hand, to do that would be giving things away. However, once the pair backwing into an unoccupied spot it's with a wave that the rider begins to dismount with a smile to Reesa and Khiabeth alike as the dragon warbles a cheerful greeting. Mirroring thoughts? Perhaps. "Have you been here long," he asks, crossing over but also removing jacket and gloves in favor of the warmth to be found. It's not as if taking it easy is something unusual for Reesa. Having spent the morning shepherding the younger class of weyrlings around outside of the Weyr, the greenrider's answering, "Not long enough. I'm not even toasted on one side." She pushes up into a seated position, shading her eyes to catch sight of E'ten. "Tell me you have something to talk about other than complaining about restrictions or how small or sparsely furnished their weyrs are?" she's practically begging for adult conversation. "Well.. I have something that might get you away for a few days," E'ten drawls out, slow and knowingly as he settles onto the ground beside Reesa with both legs stretched out in front of him before turning is attention thusly onto the greenrider. "I told Hattie that we might have found some places south that might replenish the stores. Or at least, it keeps us from suffering too much during the winter. I don't know if you'll be able to travel much, but it's not fair to take full credit when it was all four of us doing the work." Perking up visibly, Reesa asks, "Somewhere sunny?" immediately, and is well-pleased by the answer. She does make a kind of face at the mention of Hattie, then, "Not sure she'd give me much credit. You'd have been better off taking it solo." She tugs at his shirt, absently straightening it. Then, as if bracing herself, "So, what /did/ she say?" E'ten lies back, folding both arms behind his head as he looks up at Reesa with a wry tug at one corner of his lips. "She's interested. The main concern was that it was far enough from Southern Weyr and that Adiulth hadn't spoken to Isyath, interestingly enough. I told her that we would have to consult our maps and confirm that there are other supplies, like greens and other footstuffs that we can use. Not only fruit, seems to come to mind. But, if we can get the greens and herdbeasts? It won't be too bad this winter. In fact," he begins with one hand reaching for hers before bringing it to his lips. "We might be able to do a bit of bartering with the crafts for what things we can't get otherwise. I don't think there's anything in that proposal which Hattie wouldn't be pleased about." Stretching out again, Reesa twists so that she can rest hands on E'ten's chest, and chin on her hands. There's a faint frown for the mention of Isyath, as the greenrider says, "Khiabeth might greet her dam if she was nearby, but I don't think we were close enough for the thought to occur to her. Plus, she was distracted," she grins, quickly, though it fades as she muses over the rest of his words. "Sounds like fun, actually. The bartering - the collecting not so much. The older weyrlings will be betweening in a few months, you can take them along if you can convince Ebeny. Make them give back to the Weyr before they graduate." "We weren't. In fact, the southern continent is quite large that it still amazes me how much land there is going inland." Said as he reaches out with one arm to curl about her shoulders, the other remains as a pillow for his head against the slightly rocky surface. "Being distracted is /not/ a bad thing," he quips, catching the grin with a squeeze of his fingers fondly against one shoulder. "And one wing of weyrlings might not be enough to supply the entire Weyr. It could be a chance for them to try out leadership, while you /rest/. Our little secret will be apparent soon enough, but I didn't tell Hattie - yet." Foreboding in that aspect, he smiles faintly to explain, "I didn't want her to ground you but be careful. There's ample reason to have a healer around when we go with the others." "We could've kept going, if you didn't feel obligated to come back," Reesa says, though the reproach in her voice is faint, more fond than anything. "Well, it's enough for now. I mean, another month after that we'll have the second group of weyrlings, too." There's a roll of her eyes for that 'threat' of telling the Weyrwoman as much as the admonishment to rest. "Hey, in case you haven't noticed, I'm resting right /now/. And there's no need to drag a healer around everywhere after me, you know. I'm /fine/." "If we kept going, who knows when we would have gotten back. We needed to come back eventually," E'ten reminds gently as he provides the start of an amused grin. "Yes, you're resting now. I know this is going to be a change at some point and you like being active around everyone you meet." He'll relent for now. Not the best way about it but it'll do. "I can't help but to ensure that you're going to be fine, Ree." Meaning it's not going to change in the near future. Reesa makes a noise of disagreement with that sentiment, though she doesn't voice is aloud. She does wrinkle her nose at his suggestion she can't keep this up, and it becomes a rueful, accepting sort of laugh. "Stop talking like a Harper's son," she half-heartedly scolds, as she pushes up, then finally stands, offering him a hand. "Come on. If we're going to do this, we should think about what we need to bring. Who we want to bring. Think Hattie will let us pick?" somehow she doesn't think that's going to be the case, but she'll try anyway. |
