| Now a mere five weeks short of being full term, Nakasha's belly appears at the top of the stairs before the rest of her; her slow, waddling gait means quite a few people skirt around her to get past, causing something of a blockage in the doorway. When she reaches the top, she takes a breather, leaning up against the nearest wall for a moment with her eyes closed, letting out a long, low breath. Fiorella is one of those heading up the stairs, but she's one of the last in that bottleneck of sorts. "Doing okay?" the apprentice inquires, pausing in the space behind Nakasha as she stops for that break. "If you need a hand with anything..." she offers without specifying anything in particular. Nakasha's eyes flicker open again in the wake of Fiorella's offer, as though she's surprised by it. After a moment, she turns her gaze - still propping herself carefully against the wall - and manages a rueful smile in the apprentice's direction. "I'm okay," she confirms, though not without a distinctly rueful note: okay as she can be, her tone suggests. "But-- if I can get myself into a chair, reckon you could find me something cold to drink? I swear it's way too hot for spring." Most normal people would call it nothing more than pleasantly warm. Fiorella nods, "Of course," she replies. "Not a problem at all," she adds with a cheerful smile. "You're due pretty soon, aren't you?" she half questions, taking notice of the woman's baby belly and likely having seen her in the infirmary for a checkup here and there. "Anything you'd like?" Nakasha, at very least, does seem to recognise Fiorella, though her smile is a typical one: a big, brilliant one, which turns her features from unremarkable to actually quite pretty. "Five weeks to go," she reports, with the kind of sigh that suggests it feels more like five months. "But I'm hoping it gets itself out sooner than that. Just-- shells, I don't know. Something /cold/." Fiorella nods again. "Well, hopefully not too soon," she replies. Then again she certainly has no experience on what it may be like for her waiting. "Cold, right," she repeats with another smile. "If you wanted to find someplace to sit, I'll find that drink and then find you.." "Maybe," agrees Nakasha, sounding unconvinced. "Still, another sevenday or so, and it wouldn't really be a problem." Her smile remains in place as she bobs her head once, beginning to draw herself away from the wall with another low exhale. "Thanks," she says, as she takes a step forward. "I'll just be-- there." Closest seats to where they are now, and probably still well and truly far enough. "Sure," Fiorella replies, nodding once more before turning off in the opposite direction to fetch a glass of juice from the tables and even managing to find a few cubes of ice for the glass. Turning back she casts a glance over the area previously mentioned before heading in the direction of the woman's seat. "Here you go," she says, still smiling as she places the glass before her and settles into her own seat at the table. "I know I've seen you around before, but I don't remember your name," she continues apologetically. "I'm Fiorella." While Fiorella's off fetching the drink, Nakasha makes her ungainly way towards the nearest chair, which she sinks into with a low sigh. She's barely there when the Apprentice makes it back, but tips her head up to smile, as she wraps both hands about it. "Ice!" she enthuses. "You're a gem. And I'm Kash-- Nakasha, but Kash, generally. Nice to meet you properly, Fiorella." "You too Nakasha," Fiorella replies, "And I thought you might appreciate the ice," she adds with a grin, eyes sparkling. "Lots of people call me Ella though too, so take your pick." "Ella, then," declares Kash with enthusiasm. "Ella and Kash. And I /do/ appreciate the ice. You would not believe how /hot/ it is... and I get that it's probably me and not everyone, but /shells/." She fans herself, for emphasis, as she takes up the glass to take a long sip. "And you're a healer. And T'rev's fosterling, if I remember correctly." Fiorella giggles, "Yeah. Well I don't think its -that- hot yet, so.. probably." There's a smile remaining all the same though. "Yep," she adds with a nod, though the knot on her shoulder gives away the healer part. "I am. What about you? Well, you're obviously not anyone's fosterling, but... craftwise?" With a half-cheerful groan, "Bring on the baby, then. Shells, and then I might even get to enjoy some of the summer gathers." Nakasha is maybe joking, but maybe not; it's enormously difficult to tell. "I'm-- well, not much of anything in particular. I /was/ a candidate, but--" Belly. Easy explanation. "Was working in the gardens after that, but I can't kneel anymore. So. Here I am." Fiorella ahhs, "I knew I'd seen you somewhere before!" And so the candidate bit explains that. "If its only five weeks left you should still be able to get to at least one of the summer gathers. They should be fun though, I even have a date for Fort's," that note made rather happily. Nakasha grins, wiping condensation from her glass and over her hands, though it dries too quickly to be of too much use. "There you go. I left the barracks a few sevens before the hatching, but I was one of that crowd for a while, anyway." She lets out another little sigh as she adds, "I hope so. I've not really done much gathering... used to go with my brother, so maybe he'll take me this turn, too. Who's your date?" She leans forward, interested. "Lucky you, having one, though." "I bet he would," Fiorella agrees about the woman's brother. "Since he's taken you before and all. Or at least he would if he knew you wanted him too." There's a bit of a grin for that question of her date, "It's just T'rev, but it's still a date. He asked me and everything." "I think he's been having a bit of a hard time lately," admits Kash, with a wrinkle of her nose. "And I've-- been having my own issues, so I haven't been as much help as I'd like. I'll have to ask him. Once I'm not, you know, hold sized." She drains most of her glass before setting it back upon the table, and grins. "That's very sweet. He's a good guy, T'rev. Been really good to me." Fiorella ohs, nodding quietly as she listens. "Well even if you are..." but she is nice enough not to actually repeat the words on her current size. "Either way though, he'll probably be glad to hear from you. T'rev is though. Nice I mean, even if it does keep him busy what with being Weyrleader and all." Nakasha gives her mid-section a meaningful glance. "Can't dance, like this," she points out. "Or walk too far. But we'll see. Couple of weeks... that's not /so/ long." Sort of. She has a sympathetic smile for the healer as she adds, "Bet he'll always make time for people who're important to him. My brother's the same... he's a Weyrleader, too. High Reaches." Fiorella turns a glance down along with Kasha. "Yeah... might still be fun to watch all the people?" she suggests before giving a nod. "He does, or at least he does his best to," she notes of T'rev. "Really?" Nakasha's nose wrinkles: people watching clearly does not appeal. "I'd rather not go, if that's all I can do," she declares, firmly, with a note of unhappy bitterness. "Know he does. And-- yeah, he is. K'del." Fiorella nods. "Well.. It was a though," she says with a shrug. "I should probably get going here soon though. Studying to do and all.." Hurriedly; "Oh! Of course. Yes. Thanks, Fiorella, for getting me the drink - and it was nice to meet you." Nakasha gives Fiorella another brilliant smile, adding, "Supposed I ought to get back to things someday... start moving now, if I want to get there before bedtime." Fiorella giggles, "Yeah, no problem. And it was nice meeting you too," she replies. "Good luck with everything. Hopefully you get to one of the gathers. And if you do, have fun," she adds, flashing a smile before turning to head off with a wave towards the infirmary. "Thanks," says Kash again. "I'll try." She watches the apprentice go, before, finally, prying herself free of her own chair to begin waddling back towards the stairs. Slowly. |
