Day 27 of month 5 wasn't a good day for a lot of people. The sun rising on day 28 brings with it renewed tomorrow and the perspective that a night's sleep can bring. Time heals all wounds, they say. Some more easily than others. By late afternoon on the following day, Rasavyth has reconstructed his carefully composed facade and seems, at least on the surface, no worse for the previous day's unpleasantness with his dam. Today, his reach is a salty breeze on a cloudy day, oceans overcast into turquoise-tinged gray as waves come to lap gently against Iesaryth's mind. « My queen, do you have a moment? » His tenor is soft, and in the word "you" is held the sensation of her that he has known. He truly means her this time, it's not a double request for attention. (Rasavyth to Iesaryth)

Time heals wounds, yes. Some dragons forget things easily, little issues from one day just gone the next, but Iesaryth is gifted with a longer memory than most and the skill with which to pluck memories from where she likes... so the day after something that upsets both her and her rider brings stormy skies to the dark ocean swells. Rasavyth's mirror is an echo of her usual mood, so much more colorful by contrast. The queen would rather not be bothered, but there's something about the bronze's question that rouses her out of her sulk enough to respond. « I do. » It's not begrudging or displeased; she'll take the distraction. (Iesaryth to Rasavyth)

There is a sense of sameness in this. He is younger and the hurt is not so deep, so the clouds are all he allows himself on this next day, but there is nothing forgotten, nor forgiven. Not yet. Possibly not ever with his clever memory tricks that cause K'zin such headaches. The tenor is sedated from his usual charming purr. There's still a hint of that charm, a faint shimmer of a thin layer of ooze on the waves, but not enough to come close to dazzling. « I am aware that you and yours are not without allies. » He doesn't bother to say which; she knows better which dragons and riders would rally to her cause if needed. « And you are my queen. » Not Hraedhyth, and there is some rancor in that implied but not stated thought. « My K'zin has always been more inclined to Hraehyth's Azaylia, » Which puts them at odds, and is something the bronze shares as a disgruntlement for him. « But recent events bring to light certain truths he had not wished to see before. Blind power without restraint does not suit us, or the Weyr. I respect the vision of you and yours. My K'zin is... » His mind goes static for three breaths as he thinks deeply on the right wording. « Ready to be pushed in the right direction. » There is a sudden vibrant flash of fresh memory, K'zin standing with Sabella at the sheltered ledge by the lake. K'zin's face is frustrated, a frustration that turns to surprise as his words echo in Rasavyth's remembering: "Maybe Aishani is in the right after all." « I shall try to push him in the right direction, as I always do, » It is his obligation after all to put his less intelligent mate on the right path. « But I would value help from yours, if she has time and inclination in the coming seven. » Beat. « My K'zin-- sees Cadejoth's K'del as a father. And Cadejoth's K'del sees him as a son. » Or son-like. A brief medley of K'zin and K'del's greatest hits (or tender moments) is displayed for Iesaryth, to prove his point. « He would not knowingly hurt them. » Then there is an echo, a whisper, a narrow icy current that highlights the most important part of that phrase: knowingly. The suggestion is: he could be manipulated. (Rasavyth to Iesaryth)

If Iesaryth is surprised by Rasavyth's candor, it doesn't show in more than a lightening of the cloudy skies, though the swells are still high, dangerous. « I appreciate your allegiance. And your honesty. » And she does, that is clear in her salty breezes, unchanged from her usual. « And Hraedhyth can be... difficult. We have had our differences. » She will not say much more than that, but there's the sense that her Shan has other thoughts on both the other queen and her rider. As for the bronze's rider, « it is important to guide where you can, if you feel you know better. I will... see what I can do. She sometimes needs to be convinced of usefulness. » Not saying that his isn't, but Rasavyth might see where Shan needs a bit of pushing of her own. The replay of K'del and K'zin's relationship is of interest, of course, and she considers that for some time. « Perhaps that will work. » Oh dear. The queen herself doesn't love the idea - she's not totally in favor of manipulating your lifemate - but the bronze must know best for his particular bond. (Iesaryth to Rasavyth)

« I wish for things to be easy between us. » For a dragon who is not prone to image-sharing, he's been sharing a lot today, and the trend continues. The memory medley this time is a dizzying spiral of unpleasant and uncomfortable moments where K'zin and Rasavyth find themselves at odds. « I... » He does not like to admit this. It is admitting a weakness, in his way of thinking, but it is a weakness all dragonkind shares, and that makes it easier. « love mine. » The truth of that cannot be doubted. The feeling is similar to the love each dragon bears for their mate, but Rasavyth's is frightening in its intensity. It's the special brand of love that is shared by sociopaths the world over. Okay, okay, sociopath is far too strong a word; but if Rasavyth can't have his K'zin, no one will have him. « But things are not easy between us. I want them to be. » This seems to be his motivation; he certainly will not be changing himself. He is Rasavyth. Fixed. Formed. Perhaps still growing, but he knows who he is, and the contrasting sensation of feeling lost 90% of the time is pulled from K'zin's mind. « He must come to see that the status quo is not right, it is simply the status quo. Your Aishani seems to know that well. » (Rasavyth to Iesaryth)

Though Iesaryth enjoys speech, she's comfortable with images as well, talking them all in - though the emotion of all the moments is a bit much for her; she is uncertain whether she should know this or not, but still 'listens', watches. Gently, kindly, « We all do. We chose them. » It's no flaw of Rasavyth's. It's something they all share, despite the intensity... it may be startling to the queen, but the bonds are different for all, and it can't be said that his dam doesn't have an intensity to her own love for her lifemate. « It will be difficult at first, as you are different. You will have to find ways to agree or to disagree. We are different, Shan and I, but I am... less inclined to push, I suppose. » As for Aishani, « She sees some things clearly, but not all. She can see opportunities, however. For change, for... advancement. » For her, for the Weyr. Though not all would agree with them. (Iesaryth to Rasavyth)

To Iesaryth, Rasavyth's mindtouch starts to edge with hazy fog, it's drowsiness setting in. « I am learning. » He offers, which could be a response to many of the things that she says. « We are learning. » His mirrored tide begins to recede, « Thank you for your time and your thoughts, my queen. » The clouds crawl back with him and the sleepy fog left in its place.
