| Specific intentions for Turn's End have yet to surface, but what is beginning to become common knowledge is an invitation issued to Fort's holders and other families living within the Weyr's coverage area. For the first sevenday of the first month of the new turn, Fort invites anyone with a good story, be it old family legend, amateur work of fiction, child's bedtime story, or tale of Ancient times (and anything in between) to visit and share it with both the Weyr and holder community. There's some suggestion that Hold Gar will be helping out with some of the supplies for the evening meals over which stories will be shared each day, a generous contribution by which it must hope to reclaim its place on the map, after its unfortunate involvement with some shady dealings over a decade ago. While the event promises to create a forum for the sharing of unique and local 'myths', it's also being viewed as an opportunity to forge new ties between families and broker some business deals in supposedly 'neutral' territory. However, some people are suggesting that it's just going to be a sevenday-long opportunity to name and shame. After all, isn't gossip just another form of story? Will it be a pooling of creativity and knowledge from the region's social consciousness, or a political disaster? |
