Taikrin

Description

There is something perpetually sullen about the set of this young women's pale face, an impression that lingers regardless of her actual impression. Perhaps it is the lips, thin and with a naturally downward cast. Perhaps it is the eyes, slightly narrowed, in an inexpressive shade of flat brown. It could be in the way overly thick brown brows meet, pointing together harshly over an otherwise unremarkable nose. Her haircut certainly contributes: sheared short, it varies haphazardly in length between one and four fingerspans, and has the look of a cut done in the dark by a child. Most tellingly, however, are the lines of scars -- some pink, and some long-healed white -- that trace over her work-hardened hands and lower arms, and even a few across her right cheek and into her hairline.

Taikrin is dressed quite simply, in the drab castoff clothes that mark those assigned to the work gangs repairing the damage to the Weyr. The standard-issue clothes are quite baggy on her frame, though her thin figure speaks more of hard labour and missed meals than any care for her physique. A sling currently supports a right arm that's been wrapped in plaster, half-hiding the simple white knot that denotes her candidacy.
