| The Trade Fair was less than a month ago; since then, whispers have become rumors have become facts. Something is going on around Crom Hold. Over the winter, a handful of mineholds reported shortages; now mineholds and farmholds all over the region have started sending in reports to Lord Crom that they are being raided-- mostly still cromcoal but occasionally over-winter stores turn up short. Lord Crom has his finger pointed at the riders of the Reaches. After the insult at the Trade Fair, after the irritation perceived from Reaches riders no matter how well Satiet hid her own, there's little doubt in anyone's mind just who's behind the missing goods. Telgar Weyr has answered Crom's request by posting additional watchriders and beginning an investigation, have driven home the point that Crom believes they look to Telgar now. The questions for High Reaches Weyr are simple; who are the ones doing this, what are the Weyrleaders going to do about it, and should they really do anything? After all, Crom threw the first punch and Telgar kicked us while we were down. Is this a case where two wrongs just don't make a right, where we ought to make sure that we don't add to a volatile situation by resorting to petty thievery? Or if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? |
