Naturally built strong, C'lar is about average height, with dark blonde hair and hazel eyes - good looking, in a relatively conventional kind of way. Albranoth is a long, narrow bronze with a rich, burnished hide.
Calarid's father was a bronzerider, and his father's father before that was one, too; it's tradition, by now, and young Cal was raised with this in mind: you'll go on those sands, and you'll Impress bronze, nothing less. It was pressure he felt keenly, being a relatively sensitive boy, over-awed by his confident, outgoing father. In some ways, he dreaded being old enough to Stand, and having to actually live up to his father's expectations.
Part of the problem was that, when you really got down to it, Calarid would have preferred to join the Harper Craft than be a rider... probably. He did extra lessons after finishing his basic harper studies, and was even encouraged towards Apprenticeship, but there was no point: he knew what his destiny was supposed to be. Thus, at age sixteen, he formally requested permission to Stand, which was granted, and was on the sands when Iovniath's second clutch hatched; he promptly Impressed bronze Albranoth.
A decade and a half in the wings have at least given C'lar the chance to become used to his position in life. He's never sought leadership, but perhaps, now, he's getting to the point where it might be not as scary as it once was.
... which is a good thing, because in month two of turn thirty-nine, Albranoth caught Torith of Monaco while they were visiting in an attempt to patch things up with former boyfriend S'mar. Which made C'lar Weyrleader of Monaco.
