| The day after the flight is a full day. It's in the corridor leading to/away from the Council Room that Dahlia stops her brisk walk to jerk to a stop, swing around and reach for N'rov's elbow as she passes him going the opposite direction. A furtive glance down the corridor confirms that the pair of riders preceding the new Weyrleader have continued on. The look in her wide eyes says she won't detain N'rov long, but long enough. "I--" and then words fail her. She's sorry? She's glad? She's conflicted? She's worried? "Are you okay?" He's shaved, so there's that, but that hectic gleam in his eyes is hard to decipher; there's so much and, "There's so much," the new Weyrleader says, no, N'rov says. He's got to be N'rov, the same N'rov; it's N'rov who reaches out to steady her by the shoulder. "Pulling together," he says, wry, the might-have-beens vanished into the now. "Together," Dee repeats in agreement, her fingers tightening on his arm. It's reminder? Promise? Recognition? Perhaps all at once. She lets go. Her expression is briefly conflicted again, but without other words, she turns to continue on her way. "We'll make it," N'rov agrees before he lets go. He walks down the passageway, within the stone that opens before him, within the shadow of all those dragons that link to Vhaeryth now directly. He doesn't look back. |
