Mahogany brown hide streaked with honeyed rays of sunlight splash over a brown that is more midsection and limbs than anything else, broad chest speaking to potential power and strength. This young dragon seems to have outgrown himself, as a softly rounded appearance diminishes the impact of his bulk from an unassuming face, chubby belly flecked with sunspots and long, solid legs, his small, almost dainty paws sporting thick, white talons. Speckles of dark moss gather in a long dorsal stripe bordered by a froth of lighter sand, drawing the line of his frame and creating angles for the eye to follow. Pale, carbuncle-like neckridges lump along with it, seeming to grow down his length of their own accord rather than as part of his body. Matching a shortish neck, his rudder of a tail is broader than usual even at its forked tip, held off the ground as a feline might for balance. Wings stretch wide but never overtake his large frame, opaque sails a near-black slick of mud mixed with a textured ripple of waves over still water.

Secret of the Earth Egg
A casual glance might lead one to believe that some prankster had rolled a small boulder in to mingle with the clutch. The stony gray shell is irregularly banded with murky brown and shaded with random splotches of soot, giving it a deceptively jagged, pockmarked appearance. Firmer lines appear upon one side of the egg, a wide black crack starting somewhere beneath the cradle of sand and zig-zagging at a sharp angle towards the midpoint. As if a hole had been punched through prematurely, but filled with shadow, the contents within still hidden away from the revealing light. Save for in the centre of the ragged mark, where black slips into deepest purple, delicate points of white for a moment seeming to sparkle before being lost once again within the greater darkness.
Secret of the Earth Egg has been trembling for some time, its ebony markings stretching wider and wider. It rocks once, twice, three times in rhythm, the brilliant amethyst underlay revealed for a single moment before the whole picture shatters. One explosive moment is all it takes, fragments large and small crumbling in the wake of a chunky brown dragonet.

Temperament
From the beginning, Kaimyth is persistent in everything he sets his mind to, be it high-minded or mischievous. This quiet dragon's actions certainly speak louder than his words; he will usually move first to help and later speak the calming words or ask the deep questions, though that doesn't mean his behavior is impulsive or ill-chosen. He can be a dreamer and a free spirit who feels a strong obligation to home and hearth, justifications always straying back to the needs of his friends, his Weyr, and especially you. This brings a sense of melancholy to his temper when you long to strike out as a unique individual and he is torn between duty and following along with your personal desires.
Through his formative months, Kaimyth takes both words and deeds to heart, a sensitive youth trying to build his identity brick by brick. He will look to older dragons to show him the way, mimicking their words and actions faithfully, following in their footsteps. If walls have ears and eyes, Kaimyth is all of them, rarely interjecting or questioning while soaking it all up like the proverbial sponge. He will keep at something, be it a practiced action or an intangible mindset, until he gets it right - or at least earns the approval of those guiding him along. With both his peers and you, he'll test out new ways of doing things bit by bit, tentative and wide-eyed in his early months.
Very much rooted in tradition and his duties to the Weyr by the time he reaches adulthood, Kaimyth's need for approval fades away as his confidence and abilities grow. He will begin to take the framework he learned as a weyrling and alter it without much thought, his natural strength and independence growing leaps and bounds until one day he is Kaimyth, with very specific ideas and mores that you are expected to follow as well. Most of these are highly idealistic: honesty, compassion, and selflessness are his trademarks, and by extension yours. Where did he come from? No one knows, though this abrupt shift is sure to test your patience and the very essence of a dragon-rider bond.
Well-practiced and quite acrobatic by the time his mind turns to chasing females, which is a bit longer than the average, Kaimyth will be a strong contender. He flies with his heart more than his head, following his instincts and throwing caution to the wind. Surprisingly aggressive and territorial when it comes to the greens or golds he fancies, these emotions - much like his transformation from youth to adult - may come as a shock until the cycle has repeated itself a few times. If the possibility of siring a clutch comes to pass, he will be proud and even brooding, considering the resulting eggs to be a part of himself nearly as much as you are. Mates are courted or trailed after as much as they will permit, this endeavor given no less effort, but Kaimyth is not one to sulk for being jilted. There are plenty of fish in the sea.
Kaimyth is a dragon who, very simply, both knows and accepts who he is. Self-assured, content in his duty to the Weyr and Pern and ultimately a voice of virtue above vice, he is in turns an unwavering support and a frustrating challenge.
Public Impression Message
Very still, as if waiting for someone to step forward and love him, the Weathered Galleon Figurehead Brown Hatchling pauses, the tilt of his head and sudden whirling of eyes communicating everything and more that a mad dash for his chosen candidate would signify. Minds touching before he ever takes a step, a call goes up and the two meet halfway, the rough, speckled brown and an older girl, both of whom might fade into a crowd. But for this moment, they are front and center.
Private Impression Message
Silence. As noise drops away your vision expands, everything registering with a new clarity, your focus sharpening to include the galleries, the ledges high above, not a detail missed. And the most important detail comes last, a soft babbling brook becoming louder in the back of your mind, joined by the crunch of sand underfoot and the subtle beating of two hearts. There are no words, not for what feels like an age of soft noises and a cool salt breeze on your skin, the gentle sensation of someone tugging at your feet. Are those waves pulling them forward? Then he sighs, a hum drawn musically into your name. « Hmm...Magdesse. Yes. » It's Kaimyth, you remember at long last, something drawn up from the deep well of memory. And suddenly you are together, feet moving without thought, knees bending, the first touch electric and the bond sealing. « Let's go. »
Mindvoice
As methodic and precise as ancient chanting, often repeated if need be, a humming quality evident in the patient, songlike piping. Kaimyth's words insinuate themselves more than they announce, soft crackles of a fire and waves lapping at the shore, old wooden houses settling in on themselves over time, the subtlest of noises that emerge only from silence.
Dragon Inspirations
Kaimyth's personality was inspired by Kahu from "Whale Rider," traditional at heart with a few twists thrown in as he grows into his own. For appearance, I drew on the whales themselves: large, muscular, and acrobatic.
Egg Inspiration: An amethyst geode
Name Meaning
Kaimyth's name was derived from the word Paikea, the ancestral whale rider which figures significantly into Kahu's personal story.
