Dee is her usual attractive self as she nears the Commons Cavern: a little dirty from the day before the heist and now sweaty from the exertion of burdened and fearful running that was the departure from the Stores. What she carried from them, though, is gone now, tucked away somewhere hopefully safe. There's worry on her tired face, and she's fighting tears that are probably more stress than sadness, her breathing coming in panting gasps as she forces herself to slow from run to walk as she angles toward the barracks, weaving through the other many bodies passing through the space.

Kaelige, given he'd no pit stops to make along his own route, made it to the barracks before those candidates who'd been anywhere other than their sleeping quarters at such an hour. But he never quite made it far enough into the room to get to his cot, instead grabbing a long candidate's robe from the hooks just beyond the doorway. As was traditionally intentioned, clothing into it is a quick thing, and he's back into the commons before they can be collected to be ushered onto the sands. He pauses, turning towards the tunnel's entrance to linger a few breaths- moments that felt much longer than they were given the unmistakable humming that permeated every inch of the Weyr. Given his normal attire, few pause to care that he'd stopped amidst the chaos of people scurrying between this room and that. Blue-green eyes, unshrouded as they are, sweep the collective. He just wanted to check, to see, that they- that she, perhaps- made it back before dissolving back into the rush. When he notices Dee, he takes a step away, but catches himself. Despite the consequences that followed her, things change today. For him, for her. No matter the outcome, this was the end of something. Reluctant thoughts lead to abrupt motions, and he's stepping forwards before he can think better of it, reaching to grab her arm before she can pass by him. "Dee." is loud enough to just barely be heard, hushed enough to be a subtle thing.

Dee startles from the hand on her arm, automatically swinging to face the owner without the hesitation that should come with being grabbed in a crowd. She's trusting, not just of Kaelige, but of the world around her, so there's just surprise not any sensible reaction (like pulling her arm away). Given her momentum, instead of just stopping in front of him, she ends up with only a breath separating them, her free hand coming up to brace against his chest. "Kael," is exhaled when she recognizes him. In the moment where their eyes meet, there's relief in her face and for a moment it looks like she might go to pieces then and there; she's stronger than that. The proximity makes her swallow and with it goes the threat of tears. "Are you okay?" She would ask, wouldn't she?

All that anger, that annoyance that has kept him from being anywhere near her for something of two sevendays is there in that look he gives her. Unfairly, unrightfully so. She did nothing. Kaelige just stands there, holding her arm not all too tightly. But in the next breath, before one might start to think too hard into that terrible expression, it softens, his face turning in his characteristic smirk. Playing off feelings that may or may not be with sarcasm. It's all there, with no hood to hide it. "I didn't just take on a whole Weyr." A beat, "You made it." He may be trying to inspire something along the lines relief, but there may be an edge of his own there in that tone of his.

Perhaps in the face of Dee's own mixed feelings, she doesn't catch the moment. He speaks, and probably she's listening, but on the heels of his last word, she's pushing onto her toes to press a kiss briefly to his lips, as if that weren't something that would only serve to contribute to the confused and varied feelings between and around them. As she does, her free hand comes to rest against his shoulder, fingers curling into the neck of his robe. "I didn't take on a whole Weyr." She has to insist first when her lips can be used for speech, "but I made it. Did the others--?" The worry renews itself as she trails off, looking up at him with her wide eyes.

Kaelige doesn't resist her desire, and in the effect that his eyes close briefly in her kiss, that he leans down just a touch to make it easier and his hand tightens just a little bit on her arm, he seems sincere. But there's a reservation to him, not nearly the emotional outreach he'd shared with her before. A hesitation. One couldn't say the wanting isn't there, given as she pulls away his eyes remain on her, the smirk worn to a mild grin at best. "I didn't keep track of them all." is, at least, honest. And after a moment more, his eyes flick briefly towards the barrack's doorway, head canted slightly in the direction and he adds quietly, "You should go get changed."

The honest answer is not reassuring and Dee's lower lip gets sucked into her mouth to be worried. With a breath caught and held, she nods, eyes briefly slipping away from his face to her hand that lingers on his neck. In the next moment she's looking briefly annoyed, before her hand pulls away. "You should too. Wear the robe in your press," is her demand, but she won't stay to see it done. Instead, she's spinning on a heel and moving with purpose through the people who stand between her and the entrance to the barracks.
