| Morning of day 5, month 9, it starts to rain dragons. Literally. When the grey skies finally break and give way to something new, it's only something darker, the Weyr and surrounding area cast into near darkness as a fierce storm strikes and holds fast for hour after hour. Many of those unfortunate enough to be caught in the air are swiftly cast down, causing serious injuries to dragons and riders alike, which results in anyone with dragonhealer training and experience being summoned to the dragon infirmary to help out with the unanticipated volume of patients. Though Fort's queens and some of the larger bronzes attempt to assist those who tumble from the sky, ground, guest and spare junior queen weyrs are soon filled with the injured, from those lucky to escape with wrenched muscles, to those suffering from far more troubling injuries. /This/ tension - the dread and waiting for keening to begin - seems much worse than the irritability of before. Riders who have travelled far enough out to avoid the storm are warned to not attempt to return until the weather settles, though, of course, there are always those who ignore advice. |
