| Galleries, Fort Weyr The entrance to the sands and galleries alike is little more than an archway and a section of flat stone before it dissolves into the sands proper. Although it's warm here, it's not nearly as hot as the sands themselves are. To the right is a broad pathway leading to the stands, with a set of stairs leading up one side all the way to the upper tiers. Also visible from here is an odd engraving on the wall -- an etching that details the rotation of the Red Star. Lined along the right-hand side of the hatching cavern are the galleries, the seats carved from the stone wall and stacked backward to allow observers the best view possible of the golden sands. Those at the bottom are protected from wayward dragonets by a railing, while dignitaries from outside the Weyr -- Lord Holders, other Weyrleaders, Craftmasters and their ilk -- have a specially designated spectator's box at the topmost row. There are three separate flights of stairs leading into the galleries, with one near the entrance, another set in the middle, and a flight at the northernmost end. L'sha sits in the gallery closest to the sands, leaning way over to rest against the railing. His elbows and forearms are folded over each other on the railing and his chin rests on his right forearm. He gazes out at the eggs on the sand, oblivious to his surroundings. E'ten makes his way into the galleries in the company of a tiny green tucked underneath the collar of bronzerider's chattering away in querious chirps before cutting off abruptly. "Can you understand what she's saying because I can't." Muttered underneath his breath, his attention might be for the unseen half of the pair. Entering the galleries, his attention finally lifts towards the direction of the eggs and the railing. Pausing because he had intended something different, the man's steps change as he approaches the visiting rider. Different because he simply can't place the appearance, fingers lifting to his brow in a brief salute. "Fort's duties, greenrider." L'sha doesn't notice the bronzerider's entry at first, absorbed as he is in the clutch. When the man speaks, he starts slightly and turns his head quickly towards the sound of the voice. "Oh! Sorry, didn't see you there." He returns the salute crisply. "High Reaches' duty to Fort, bronzerider. I'm L'sha, green Rillaeth's. Newly graduated senior weyrling. I thought I'd come to take a look at your clutch. I always love watching eggs." "E'ten, bronze Adiulth's. This is Seaspray," he notes by gesturing to the green whose eyes peek out from underneath the collar as she inches close to the human's neck. Looking. Observing. Seeing that this new person poses no immediate threat, she steps out a little more to be seen with a brief chirp. Hello. "Well met, L'sha. And welcome. Is this your first time to Fort since becoming a graduated rider," he asks, turning to lean along the railing companionably. L'sha grins and wiggles his fingers at the little green. "Hi, Seaspray! She's beautiful. And tiny! Did she just hatch?" His eyes meet the firelizard's, then they lift to E'ten's. "Thank you! I've been here a few times on between training. Last time, I visited A'rist when he was here after he lost a flight." His mouth twists wryly. "He was recuperating here for a while after his Lythronath got wounded. He got into it with another bronze." His eyes briefly flick down, almost imperceptibly, to get a better look at E'ten, then he turns back to the sands just as quickly. "This is an...interesting clutch you have here. Can't say I'm in love with the colors, though. Except the gold, of course, it's gorgeous!" "Just because it's gold, don't even believe that it might be a gold. Unless, she's fiercely protecting it," E'ten remarks, lifting a finger up for Seaspray to brush one cheek against. "She's newly hatched and reminds me of the time Adiulth was just a hatchling himself... but less to oil and feed," he notes with a brief smirk crossing his lips as the firelizard finds herself confused and somewhere there's a mental snort of a draconic sort. Sobering a touch at the mention of flights, he notes with a touch of seriousness, "I can't tell you why some of the mating flights have been violent lately. It's a trend that I've seen and it's very unfortunate. But it could always be worse." L'sha turns back to grin brilliantly at the little green again. "She's adorable. I'll have to find myself a clutch one of these days. And, well, there's going to be violence when Lythronath is involved. Hate to say it, but it's a fact. It's not his fault, he's just...very instinctive. Rillaeth and I were nearly on the wrong end of his talons, once. I hope it doesn't happen again if he chases her when she rises. Which shouldn't be too far off, now, I think." He meets E'ten's eyes again, briefly, then turns back to the clutch. "I don't know, I don't like to say this about eggs, but there's something...uneasy about these eggs. Can't put my finger on it. Just an odd feeling when I look at them. Maybe I'm imagining it." E'ten hms partially in query, voice lilting slightly as he does so. "Something odd about them? Well, I haven't spent that much time here in the galleries to get a feel for them. That may be something to keep an eye on, but the parents are very stable personalities," he remarks thoughtfully while the firelizard heads back to the confines of the collar for stability. "I think that Adiulth might be well to avoid some flights for now, if that's the trend." L'sha shrugs. "Oh, I doubt there's anything wrong with the hatchlings, just something about the colors, I guess. I'm sure they'll be just lovely. And I hope there's a new gold for you!" He stands and brushes himself off, as if he'd been there long enough for dust to gather, then turns to the bronzerider. "Well, that'd be a shame if he had to avoid flights. Hopefully the trend will reverse. It's getting late, I'd better get back to the Reaches. Nice to meet you, E'ten." He leans forward a bit and whispers towards the rider's collar, "You too, Seaspray!" He straightens up and grins. "See you around." |
