More Trouble at High Reaches
RL Date: 15 December, 2009
Who: K'del
Involves: High Reaches Weyr
Type: Update
What: A trio of riders are found guilty of treason.
When: Day 25, Month 6, Turn 21 (Interval 10)

Things have been relatively quiet of late at High Reaches - since the Crom decision was handed down, life has returned more or less to normal. Granted, the weyr made monetary losses as a result of the decision, and not many people really trust Crom to actually make the promised reparations, in the wake of everything, but rumour does suggest the Minecraft deal did go ahead... for the moment, it does look as though the weyr will be provided for.

That peace has broken, though, with rumours, beginning on day 25, that three Hailstorm riders have been found guilty of treason after apparently colluding with Holder Browden to bring down the Crom deal.

The Weyrleader - who, along with his right-hand-man, B'sil, is presumed to have been responsible for the verdict - is harder to find than usual, and saying nothing. Rumour, though, names the riders as T'malt, V'shaz and Sh'kel, and indicates that T'malt has been sentenced to permanent watchduty as far north as the High Reaches coverage area goes, V'shaz has been transferred to Igen, and Sh'kel will be watchrider at the High Reaches Star Stones, and effectively dropped to weyrling status. There are plenty who say the punishment is far too light (clearly K'del's doing rather than Tiriana's); of course, there are plenty, too, who've begun to demand evidence for this so-called plot.

Word has also spread that there might be other riders involved in the conspiracy - some have even gone so far as to name B'mel, though no charges have been laid - which is perhaps why half of Hailstorm has been transferred to other wings, while a number of apparently responsible, loyal riders have been moved into Hailstorm.

And where's K'del in all this? It's not uncommon knowledge that his younger sister just had a baby and that's there's something wrong there, which might account for some of his lack of visibility, but ultimately, it does rather look as though he's ducking out of sight for the moment. His leadership has, after all, taken a fair few knocks of late... and more than a few eyes are looking to Iovniath to, perhaps, find the weyr a new Weyrleader sooner rather than later.
