Southern Bowl, Fort Weyr

This end of the bowl is grassy and serene with the pretty blue of the lake nearby as a draw for residents, riders and dragons alike. Since the earthslide collapsed in the spring of turn 23, a dramatic view of the mountain slopes that circle the Weyr has opened up beyond the lake, where a faint misty haze often shimmers above the small waterfall.

The feeding grounds are fenced off to on the northeastern end of the lake, just a short walk from the weyrling barracks, the Weyrleader's complex, the hatching complex, living cavern, and infirmary.

It's early in Fort, but earlier in High Reaches, given the more westerly location of the latter. So what could a newly-minted Avalanche wingrider be doing appearing from between above the bowl, at such an hour? Cailluneth, her hide silvered by the morning light, blares off a husky hello to the watchdragon, before starting a lazy spiral down to the ground below. Given the baby chubbiness that she's not yet shed, it comes as no surprise that she lands quite heavily, but not completely without grace; still, N'ky is a whole lot lighter on his feet when he drops down from her side. There's a moment spent stroking his lifemate's dark grey-green foreleg as he removes his flying gear, before finally turning around to view the bowl, as if trying to get his bearings. Early is entirely within one's perception. For E'ten, it means that the bronzerider is already making his way across the bowl from the direction of the northern section of the bowl. With his riding jacket slung over one shoulder, the other hand is carrying a mug of klah while the hidden arm is bringing back records. The bundle not looking any different than anything else that a rider might be carrying. Looking higher as the green descends, it doesn't take long for the identification to be made as he continues to walk but with a nod and slight lifting of his mug in greeting. "Fort's duties to the 'Reaches, greenrider."

"A-and 'Reaches' to Fort," N'ky replies to E'ten, the touch of what could be nerves in his voice making his crooked but warm smile seem a tad anxious. Leaving Cailluneth behind, he approaches the bronzerider, playing with the strap of the bag that's slung horizontal across his chest. With his helmet off he can ruffle up flight-flattened curls, which stick up like an unruly cocoa-brown halo atop his head, and he hunches his shoulders a little when he's finally close to the Fortian, looking shyly down at him. "I-I, um... th-there's the, um... you have a restaurant? The one with the, um..." Up go his fingers, miming water trickling down. "Waterfall, thing? Fountain. With the fountain inside? I can't remember h-how to get there." The silent part comes from pleading brown eyes; can you help?

"The Glass Fountain?" It's the only place that meets that description as E'ten uses his mug as a gesturing item over one shoulder towards the way he just came from. "It's through the living caverns and likely not that populated this morning." Taking note of the bag and the nervousness, he asks, "Are you here on transport and delivery duty? Though given the time difference between the Reaches and Fort, this is pretty early for even you."

"That's it!" N'ky's face lights up, and he nods. "The Glass Fountain. Yes." The question posed to him has him shaking his head softly, a glimmer of pride flickering in his brown eyes and in the twitchy smile he wears. "I had an early sweep," he explains. "And, um, b-before going back, I thought I'd come by and, well, see if I could m-maybe take a menu copy home with me, um, c-cos there's this girl... " A deep blush colours his cheeks, and that smile grows deep enough for his dimples to show. "She w-won't fly, but I thought maybe if she could see how good the menu is..." The rest of that statement is shrugged away, not needing to be said.

E'ten knowingly smiles as he understands, finally taking a sip of his rapidly cooling klah. "If she sees the listing, there's a chance that she might want come flying with you to Fort?" It's perfectly reasonable. "How about I show you where the place is before I finish delivering off these hides and other paperwork? There's still a little time before I'm due to report in for drills."

N'ky's blush deepens a touch more, and he bites shyly down on his bottom lip. "Yep. I'm h-hoping it might be enough of an incentive for her to, um, c-come for dinner with me." His grin grows, and he sweeps his curls back from his face by running fingers through them. "Could you show me? Please? I've been before, but, um... well, this is only my second time in Fort, and I can't really remember where I'm going." The greenrider chews a little more on his lip, giving a quick glance around the weyr's bowl. "I-if it's not too much trouble, of course. I'm sure I can find it if you can point me in the right d-direction."

"Sure. I'll have to drop by the infirmary either way," E'ten remarks as he turns back towards the caverns which lead further into the Weyr proper. Paperwork not swaying this time, even though the jacket is as he turns somewhat conversational on the route. "By the way, I'm getting remiss. Name's E'ten. Bronze Adiulth's. If nothing else, you should try to visit more of the Weyrs. Knowing what's available to you isn't a bad thing to have handy."

"Thanks," N'ky falls in beside the Fortian bronzerider, then seems flustered that he, too, forgot that so-simple thing - introducing himself. "Oh! Um - well met, E'ten. I'm N'ky, a-and that's," he looks back over his shoulder, to where his lifemate is, "Cailluneth. We're, um, slowly seeing the other Weyrs. Other than visiting them for reference points, I mean, b-but I did have dinner here in the Glass Fountain once. It's so beautiful." The greenrider smiles fondly, perhaps at the memory of that particular dining occasion. "Though we're kinda new to w-wing duties and things, so there's not much time to go, um, explore too much right now. I guess we've got time though, right?"

"You have time," E'ten reassures as they draw closer to the caverns with a hand gesturing the direction that he should go while remaining a guide until delivering the greenrider to the corridor leading to the Glass Fountain. "It's not hard to work your way back to the bowl when you're ready to leave. Clear skies to you, N'ky."

N'ky's certainly been taking note of the way in, so as to be able to find his way back out again. When he's delivered to his destination - or near enough as makes no difference, anyway - he smiles thankfully at E'ten and bobs his head gratefully. "Th-thank you very much, E'ten. Clear skies to you too, sir." The smile turns briefly crooked, before he clips off a smart salute and turns to trot down the corridor.
