Dragon Infirmary, High Reaches Weyr
The vast cavern has much the same odor of redwort and numbweed as the human infirmary, though here it's seasoned with coppery ichor rather than the iron of blood. It's also laid out similarly though on a much more massive scale, its walls lined with a number of places for patients, in this case large dragon couches recessed into the floor for ease of access; nearby cots provide space for riders. Tucked into the western curve is a huge circulating pool of warm water, by which are kept vats of oil.
The healers' duty station is a counter on the north side of the room, a checkpoint before the storage rooms behind it that are now shared with the human infirmary, hosting supplies that are as neatly labeled and carefully scrubbed as the rest of the infirmary. The senior dragonhealer has an office there as well, and human-sized double doors have recently been built as a direct route to the human infirmary, while opposite a wide winding tunnel leads to the east bowl.

The morning after Arekoth's poorly planned "gift" for Kazavoth, the brown and his rider can be found in the dragon infirmary area. D'kan is just in the process of slipping into his jacket again to fend against the spring day's damp, chilly weather. Going by the lack of a dragonhealer in the immediate vicinity, and the appearance of fresh numbweed and redwort on Kazavoth's neck, it's likely the pair has only just finished their check-in, as ordered by Quinlys.

News travels... relatively fast, apparently? Iesaryth didn't seem overly disturbed by whatever happened the day before; not much really disturbs the sunny waves, even if clouds are moving in - but that morning, there's a sudden wash of saltwater, perhaps a little strong in its rush toward Kazavoth - what happened stupid Arekoth what now? Perhaps Aishani's appearance in the infirmary, not-too-long after, is not all that shocking in that light. Her expression is displeased, though not for D'kan; she wastes no time in striding up to ask, "Is everything all right?" Clearly, it looks all right, but...

D'kan straightens quickly and tugs the collar of his jacket straight before nodding toward Aishani. He must not be feeling too stressed out at this point, because he's able to give the Weyrwoman an easy smile, while Kazavoth, apparently none the worse for wear, moves around his rider to greet the woman with whirling eyes of blue mixed with vivid green while making a tiny, happy, chittering creel. To Iesaryth, his reply is no less chipper, still reliving the delight in having killed his first wherry, and blithely skipping over the parts where he got hurt and people yelled. "Just a deep scratch," D'kan quickly answers Aishani in the meantime, kneeling as he silently bids Kazavoth to kneel, the better for showing off his battle wound.

Holding out her hand to the brown with small, small smile, Aishani looks Kazavoth over carefully - not that she's any dragonhealer - and tells him, "I'm sure it was terribly impressive." Even if she's not happy about it, why not give him his moment. Her attention shifting up to D'kan, the goldrider looks less concerned than deeply irritated - but does she need much of an excuse to get annoyed with certain people? Not likely. With a purse of her lips, "I'm sorry about that. Are you all right? It's... well. It's not just for them that it's important to be careful." Her dark gaze has gone a bit flinty; Iesaryth is content if Kazavoth is well, but slightly unsettled.

Though there's still the shine of sunlight on waves, there's something of a dull sky over the endless ocean; Iesaryth is displeased. There's the underscore of drums along with tide's roar - she's not the only one, regardless of whose hatchling might have been wounded. Still... « You have done well. Not all would take an injury so calmly. » Because she can see through her rider, you know. (Iesaryth to Kazavoth)

D'kan's hand remains on Kazavoth's shoulder a moment as he regards the dragon, then he stands again and turns back to Aishani. There's still a smile on his face, but some of that has faded from his eyes. "Kaz is hoping it leaves a scar. Not sure if that's Arekoth's influence or just... Kaz." That brings a bit more light back to his dark eyes and causes Kazavoth to bump his hip lightly with the blunt end of his snout. "It's, uh..." D'kan has to stop a moment, though, considering as he now watches Kazavoth explore the cavern, though he doesn't stray too far. "I've never had to care for someone before now," the weyrling admits a moment later, glancing back to the Weyrwoman. "Kinda hits a person right here, you know?" he asks, rapping his knuckles lightly above his heart.

The sound of those drums brings Kazavoth's attention around sharply, and he absorbs Iesaryth's voice for a moment as if to study it, the releases it with his own innocent joy now attached, dancing along the waves like the tiniest silver fireworks, bursting in beat with the drums. « Thank you, Iesaryth! Though it was not such an injury, was it? Do you think it will stay that way? » There is far more hopeful glee coloring the final question a painfully bright purple than possibly should even exist in the color spectrum. (Kazavoth to Iesaryth)

Arekoth. Aishani wrinkles her nose for even the name, turning her attention to Kazavoth, who does seem pretty pleased with himself and life in general. "I suppose you could arrange that, but I don't think the dragonhealers would thank you for it. Nor would you enjoy it." When she looks back to D'kan, hands sliding into pockets, she considers both words and expression for a moment or two before nodding. "I suppose I can see that. Even if you've had... that sort of responsibility, the tie is different. So early on, it can be difficult to separate." With a flicker of her gaze toward the brown again, "Quinlys has asked that we keep Arekoth from the weyrlings from now on, and... neither Iesaryth nor Hraedhyth have any issues with that. So..." It shouldn't be a problem. Again.

They're not Iesaryth's drums, but they're certainly recognizable as Hraedhyth's - apparently the other queen is likewise on alert and unhappy. Though there's no need to press the issue, not if Kazavoth's going to be so happy about it. « You will have opportunities for greater battles. Do not hope for such from unworthy opponents. » It was a wherry after all. Not like, some uppity bronze. Let's be realistic. (Iesaryth to Kazavoth)

Kazavoth has wandered as far as the pool set aside for injured or convalescing dragons, and he's begun making ripples in its surface. So concerned. "I was so pissed," D'kan says bluntly while watching the brown play. "I know we're supposed to shield them from strong emotions, but shells." He turns back to Aishani while shaking his head. "I wanted to deck the guy." He stops to take in a short breath, then shrugs. "I shouldn't been awake, too. Shouldn't have dozed off like that." A hand balls into a fist and swings to lightly bump against his thigh. "That's good to hear, though. That dragon's..." Apparently D'kan can't choose from the myriad of adjectives that could potentially follow that sentence.

To Iesaryth, Kazavoth shares his musings in the water, rippling them forward to curl around Iesaryth's thoughts. Her last gives him pause, both physically and mentally, where both sets of ripples go still. « I had not considered that, » he admits, voice falling to a low inflection. « Though... it is a first, yes? »

"I don't blame you. I likely would have. I..." Aishani's about to go into something long and maybe a little ranty, by the breath she takes and the dark look about her, but she remembers herself, remembers who she's talking to in a sidelong glance D'kan's way, and stops. Her jaw setting, she tells the weyrling, "You can't blame yourself, honestly. The point is, you should be able to fall asleep. You shouldn't have to worry that some random dragon--" His sire, but Shani seems to have conveniently forgotten that. "Causing issues for them when they're this young." And even though she stopped herself earlier, his last just leaves the door wide open for, "It's not just the dragon, it's the rider." Sourly.

She can likewise share the view from high, high above, on the rim of the bowl, where it's windy and clear and she can see the Weyr and all the comings and goings she so likes to watch. Iesaryth's fish-thoughts are as constant as the waves; she will not be too condescending about all the things she's considered that any other dragon couldn't possibly, but in her light tenor, « Was it much of a battle? Or a first? » But she can allow that it was a first. For he and his. « I could have told you how. How not to get hurt. He does not think. » The last is derisive. The queen has no time for lack of foresight. (Iesaryth to Kazavoth)

At first, D'kan raises his brows as if to prompt for the rest of Aishani's first sentence, but his attention wanders for a moment as Kazavoth rejoins them, his small paws leaving wet dragon tracks across the cavern's floor. As the Weyrwoman finishes, D'kan nods to her once, his crooked grin a touch wry. "Yeah, that's... I mean, I get it. Sort of. When I'm asleep or my attention wanders, Kaz might do something stupid. And did. But his dragon's way older. I mean..." D'kan finishes gesturing hands to either side and shrugging, the unspoken "what" to finish his sentence.

« Planning is crucial, » Kazavoth agrees, light and song fading from his mindvoice momentarily as he takes in Iesaryth's lofty vantage point. His tone is both considering and a little gloomy, disappointed that this first battle was not as epic as he first thought. The low tide can only last so long, however, especially at this stage, and the quiet thoughts are soon overcome by a wave of barely muted excitement. « There will be more hunts. And they will be better. And you will come help us? » (Kazavoth to Iesaryth)

With a sigh, "Well. I'm sorry it was an issue. It shouldn't be from now on. Although..." Aishani's gaze follows wet dragon tracks to Kazavoth with a warm smile, quite unlike any she has for most actual humans. "I imagine he'll figure something else out to make you crazy at some point. Iesaryth's... well. She really shouldn't talk." She addresses this to the brown as much as to D'kan, perhaps aware that someone's annoyance is harshing the little guy's buzz. Looking back over to the brownrider with a shrug, "You're not at the point where you can be entirely responsible for it." Unspoken: other people certainly are. "Anyway. I just wanted to make sure... things were all right. They seemed to be, but." Perhaps now a bit uncomfortable for showing actual concern, "You'll let us know if you need anything? Or... if anything else..." Goes horribly wrong.

To Kazavoth, Iesaryth might feel a little bad about that; enough to sparkle off the waves despite gloomy skies for Kazavoth. « You did well. » She just doesn't like hurt, doesn't like that it happened for no reason she can discern. The excitement isn't something she'd have him mute, sea breezes whipping over the wave. « I will. I can show you. But you must wait. I know it is annoying and difficult. But I can show you now. » And she can. It's maybe edited, so as not to get him hungry or anything, colorless, but precise and tactical. Wait this way. Strike here for a clean kill. And so on. Things she just knows, just takes if she doesn't know.

"I appreciate it," D'kan informs Aishani, easy in both words and smile. "For checking in on us." Kazavoth settles in nearby to stretch, starting at the legs, working toward the tail, then flexing those wings. Someone's ready to go find his siblings, most likely. "I promise to deck the guy if his dragon pulls any more stunts with Kaz or his clutchmates," the weyrling adds as the smile turns just a little rakish.

To Iesaryth, Kazavoth is like a sponge at most times, but at this particular moment, that aspect multiplies tenfold. He positively drinks in the instructions, mindvoice quickly growing more animated again, filling with colors and trilling music. « ohhhhh » he replies in a near whisper, though even the quiet tone cannot hide his glowing, growing delight.

Nodding briskly, Aishani notes, "I felt we should. I'm glad... it was nothing major." Though she's no less annoyed than she was when she walked in, dark look still about her eyes, not smiling quite as easily as she might usually, despite general sobriety. Though there's a bit of a laugh for that, and she shakes her head. Grinning faintly, "Don't promise things that'll get you into trouble. He still outranks you. So... wait." Until he graduates, presumably. Then Shani can full approve of D'kan punching H'kon, yay! As she starts away, back out into the bowl, over her shoulder, "Take care of yourselves."

A fount of knowledge, Iesaryth. Though she might be distracted now and again, she'll keep Kazavoth company for most of the day, giving over information as he likes, her odd little version of being maternal, while the waves whisper in the background. (Iesaryth to Kazavoth)

That is advice D'kan can appreciate even more, reflected in the definitely rakish smile as he gives one, definitive nod. "I can wait," he assures her, then waves as Aishani turns to go, adding a "same to you," before he turns to his little brown. Kazavoth bumps his rider's hand, then takes a few steps in the direction the Weyrwoman just left while he watches D'kan over his shoulder. Grinning, the weyrling is happy to oblige, though their pace will be a far slower one than Aishani's. There's still lots of daylight left to this day.

< Aw. I liked Iesaryth checking up on Kazavoth, even if she was kind of mom-ing up his happiness. And D'kan punching H'kon... now that, I can wait to see. XD
