Kash was full of good intentions, when it came to her visit with Kezend: she'd tell him, she'd reassure him that she didn't need anything from him, didn't want him to marry her because of it, and everything would be okay.

But sometime between meeting up with him and getting to the beach where they could talk more privately, her good intentions fled her. She couldn't tell him. He'd insist on them getting married, and that would ruin everything. His family would be disappointed, she'd never get the opportunity to Stand, everything would be awful. It was better, if he didn't know.

So she spoke to him with a smiling face and a "I missed you so much," and they had a lovely time together. Her candidacy was reason enough for them to keep their clothes on, a feigned cold kept her out of the water when he suggested a swim. So they just talked, and it was beautiful: like nothing had changed, like it would always be this perfect.

"I'll come and watch you stand," he told her, beaming. "See you Impress."

"Don't," she said, shaking her head, forcing a smile onto her face. "I'd spend all my time on the sands looking for you in the galleries, and miss the hatchlings." She felt the lie deep inside, eating away at her, but forced herself not to think about it. He couldn't know. This was better for everyone.

Later, they met up with T'rev again, and the conversations turned more casual still; by the time it was time to leave, she felt almost relaxed about it. He didn't need to know. She'd find some way to avoid it forever. It wouldn't be impossible to stay away for another six or seven months... Really!

She let everyone assume she'd told him. That would probably come back and bite her, but... for now, it was better.

Later. They could worry about that later.
