Workout Room, High Reaches Weyr(#1636R)

This larger sub-cavern - located not far from a tunnel accessing the outside - has an arching ceiling and smooth-hewn walls to better facilitate both safer workouts and better circulation for the Weyr's residents, if the outside weather is inclement. Various implements are stationed in ordered symmetry about the cavern, including free weights, punching bags, and many others. Along the glow-lit walls are pegs for holding clothing, and large mats hang from sturdier braces, allowing for softer falls, while large covered bins and lockers hold smaller necessities, such as boxing gloves, jump ropes, and more.

If the blue and black bruise near her eye is any indication, waking up after a bar fight is not nearly as pleasant as participation in one in the moment. Then again one look at the records keeper would tell anyone that she didn't have much fight in her, or any history of violence. Still orders are orders, and Edyis is good at following orders, so she is early for her dawn appointment with one particularly gruff blue-rider or at least she tries to be. Hangovers do require large amounts of caffeine to cure, so there was an unscheduled encounter with a klah pot.

Alida knows all about waking up after fights...and a little bruise near the eye would be a mere 'flesh wound' to someone with her experience. And so, it's with a wry bit of a smirk that she greets Edyis inside the workout cavern within 'Reaches' bowels, the bluerider already sipping her own cuppa, her form clad in typical gymnasium wear that takes into account the northern hemisphere's summertime warmth, even at dawn. Since she's not training another guard, Ed gets a little slack...which is to say that 'lida doesn't demand a salute and instant, obedient pliability from her new charge. Instead: "Don't fill yer bladder. Always hate ta see a trainee piss their pants."

"Yes, because that's the first thing I would like to not do today." Pissing her own pants, she must mean. It's fortunate Alida didn't ask for a salute, Edyis wouldn't know how to give one properly. Instead, she straightens up, as best she can. "Since I think we both know I have no idea what I'm doing, tell me where to start and what you expect. I will do my absolute best to comply."

"Glad we agree..." It trips off almost lightly from Alida's lips, her usually cool green eyes touched with a hint of humor, the 'former' Guard trying not to smirk-smile. Even at dawn, this kind of training is worth waking up for. Once she's done downing the last sip from her cup, the seated blonde notes to Edyis, "Good. The best thing you c'n honestly do is admit yer green." And that does *not* mean in possession of a green lifemate. "Took me a little while ta figure that one out...'specially since I had ta' finally admit it t' my father." A look down into her tin cup presages a small huff of breath, then a redirection of gaze back to Ed as she soon rises, sets the cup aside on the bench, walks over towards the scribe. "First thing's first: words uv' warning an' understanding. You'll likely get injured at some point, possibly more than once. Unless ya do somethin' really dumb - 'r don't honestly listen ta' me - it'll be minor...nothin' that'll impede ya'. If ya' fuck up..." Head shake. Do *not* fuck up.

Dark eyes don't shift from Alida as she speaks, each word filed and cataloged for future reference. "What did he do, when you admitted it?" Curiosity sparking, though Edyis does her best to throttle it back down. At mention of injury she absently touches the bruise on her face, "Don't be stupid, don't screw up, got it. Should I expect to be wearing long sleeves and utilizing ointments for a while?" Since the sudden rise in bruises and injury might seem strange in a hide bound records keeper.

For a long moment, it looks as if Alida won't answer Edyis' inquiry of her father, the bluerider merely pivoting about on a heel and moving to grab one mat from its hook on a wall, then lug it back to their portion of the broad cavern. Quietly, once she's near the scribe again, "He smirked at me. Fucker. Rubbed it in a little...then finally got down ta teachin' me the *Guard* basics, once I squashed down the impulse ta' wanna' choke 'im ta death." The woman says this with mostly-even features and tone, though something unreadable lingers behind her eyes. "I'll do my best ta' not mark ya' up...but it'll get more an' more likely the farther we progress. Can't let the seasons dictate lessons...but I'll see if bruises on yer arms can't become more fashionable as the autumn 'n winter arrive." Snert.

"Would have been nice if that had worked with my father and dragon chess." She snorts softly. "So the Guard was a family thing?" Shifting her weight before she starts stretching, eyes never leaving the blonde. There's laughter for marks and fashion, "I'll be all kinds of pretty colors won't I?"

There's no comment about Ed's own dad, Alida merely shrugging slightly, then commenting in her typical, clipped fashion (even if quietly), "Only if you count the old man 'n me. Guess so." There's a lazy look for the scribe's stretching, the blonde doing the same as a sudden yawn overcomes her, soon followed by a definite nod. "Won't lie t'ya. You'll hurt in new ways, likely...ways y' never thought you might be able ta'. It'll be up t'you ta' believably explain the reasons, if anyone inquires." Her sandals are soon drawn off feet, flung over towards the bench the bluerider recently vacated, and somewhat smaller feet soon step lightly on the mat she dragged over, testing its give. As she does so, the woman comments to Edyis, "Whenever possible, bare feet 'r the best. We'll start off with 'em."

Edyis nose wrinkles but she nods, pacing to the bench, sitting down long enough to remove her boots, before setting both neatly under the bench. "Understood." Sucking in a deep breath without any desire to further prolong the inevitable, Edyis pulls to her feet, returning to the mat. "Ready whenever you are."

"Always try ta get a quick understanding uv' the terrain yer on. They all present different obstacles...or not," Alida informs the waiting Edyis, the guard's feet lightly moving her form up and back some over the mat's surface. Soon enough, she's...not facing off with the scribe, but smoothly stepping to her side, and noting equitably, "First thing's first: how ta' fall correctly. Lots'a people never learn this part about defense, fighting, and they wind up takin' even more damage when they hit the ground." Green eyes flick from Ed's current posture right up into the younger female's eyes. "Ready?" And even as she's mellowly explaining her upcoming lesson - and asking that one question - Alida's quite quickly hooking an ankle behind whichever leg of the scribe's that looks the most unstable, and casually pushing her with sudden force upon the same side's shoulder, escorting her very quickly upon her back to that mat, which slaps in muffled fashion. Along the way to that likely fall, the bluerider accompanies Ed downward, guarding her head or maybe some random limb from an unacceptable impact.

The squeak of surprise as the ground suddenly gets a little too friendly is cut short by the impact, softened as it is by Alida's control of the fall. "Terrain, so like rocks tables and chairs or angry bar folk." Comes out in a wheeze, every muscle on her tense. "How does one take a fall properly then, it's not something I would think people would intentionally practice." A stab at humor, or a serious question, possibly both.

"Don't move," Alida notes quite seriously to the now ground-dwelling scribe as the bluie partially kneels beside her, green gaze looking pointedly into Edyis' own eyes. "Tell me what you feel under yer back, and what smarts the most." If she's obeyed, the other woman gets a sober, alto reply to her own pithy bon mot, "Yep. Or frost, mud, underbrush...sand 'r shells. It all matters, when yer life's concerned. One slip, a careless fall c'n make a difference." Shrug, smirk. "And *those* people 'r the ones that get injured worse, 'r more often."

If nothing else, the young scribe is good at following instructions, so when that green gaze is fixed on her she takes a moment to seriously appraise herself before answering. "My rear end, and lower back, probably from where I tensed up out of surprise?" She can only guess at the reasoning behind why those parts hurt the worst. "So that's why you always are looking about and taking note of things like exits and your surroundings?"

"Tensed up, hit with those first..." Alida notes economically once Edyis answers, the bluie placing her feet, body a certain way, then offering the scribe an arm up, if she wants it. Along the road to standing once again, the rider offers, "Imagine if there wasn't a mat beneath ya'...or if you slipped on ice, an' landed on a knee 'r elbow." Those kind of everyday injuries can happen to *anybody*, really...not just Guards or combatants. "I think everybody should know at least a minor level uv' self-defense. It c'n really help with everyday problems, not just life an' death fights." A small bit of a half-smile and a likewise nod follow for the scribe's observation of the former-holder's habit of looking around, and she further comments, "You see R'hin doin' it, too. Anyone who questions their surroundings - who wants ta keep tabs on people, things - will measure their circumstances."

Accepting the arm up, the young scribe pulls to her feet. "Never had much need for it before, but I'm definitely acquiring an appreciation for it now." A few quick stretches to work out the tenseness before she adds, "True he does, but with you it's almost a bright red sign with giant letters, I can't imagine trouble ever comes looking for you willingly. What were you doing there anyway?" She asks quietly, dark brown eyes resting on the former guard.

"Hopefully, what ya' take away from here t'day - all the other days - 'll stick with ya' the rest uv yer life..." Alida replies to her 'student,' the blonde then looking a little pensive when Edyis mentions how often she looks around. Muttered: "Then I need ta' be less obvious about it." A bob of head in unvoiced 'appreciation' to the scribe for noticing such out loud presages the Guard's low, "My specialty wasn't in undercover, so I didn' learn the extras that those guards did." What *are* her 'specialties? "Ya wanna make others around ya believe yer part uv the general crowd, tha'cha aren't tense, 'r wary. Smooth 'n natural." Apparently she has some modifications to make to her own behavior, given that her 'perusals' were noticed. "Checkin' up on some uv the facts y've presented me with." Does the thin little serpent's smile which slithers across the 'rider's lips indicate a certain amount of mistrust of the scribe, or something even darker? No matter, she's soon gesturing for Ed to stand around 4 feet away - facing the bluie - and then positioning her body just 'so,' legs and arms lightly cocked for best balance, though she's not crouching. "For beginners, a ready stance helps with practice. See how my legs are? It's tougher ta pull me off balance this way, harder ta surprise me with a sudden move like I pulled on you."

"It would probably take quite a bit to forget any of it." Edyis mutters softly. "Getting it translated from mind to action is another story entirely." She does try, and it's a valiant effort, but her stance is now too wide. "I do my work well, if there were any errors, it would be due to an error in the original record itself, but I don't expect you to take my word for it, so long as you are good on your word." The smile is returned, a little more toothy and a touch playful. "You do better when you are actually under cover, if it makes you feel better." She points out diplomatically before, "Do I have this right?"

"There's always the possible hard knock uv the head..." Alida notes in light fashion, the woman smirking softly while she holds her stance, then looks over at Edyis to see her attempt to copy it. Good; she shows initiative. To the scribe's inquiry: "Stay still..." the bluerider again intones, then breaks her own stance to move beside the Harper, and use her own hands, feet to tap at, grip and shift the other's limbs and extremities into proper position. Of course, her torso and head have to move a little to keep her balance, and 'lida explains during her repositioning, "Feel yer body move naturally when I moved yer legs, arms? What I'm gonna be teachin' you the next few times is really just an extra extension uv balance an' coordination." Pause. "D'ya' feel more steady, right now?" As for performing more smoothly under 'pressure,' "Well, then I'm not as concerned that a few Turns uv' dragonriding've made me sloppier."

Edyis wrinkles her nose, "There is always that. I would rather not lose months of dragon healing lessons if you don't mind." Falling still, her dark gaze follows Alida, paying particular attention to the way each adjustment feels. "Yes,actually." Surprise coloring her voice, "Not that you still wouldn't have the ability to knock me on my hindquarters mind, but it does feel much better. "

"Dragon healing?" Alida inquires with some curiosity. "Roundin' out yer Harper training?" Smirk. As Edyis finds some surprise in the way her body naturally responds, the 'former' guard notes succinctly, "Listen t' yer body more. Learn ta' make it do yer will." A faint quirk of level lips is the bluie's quiet response to Ed's latter, the woman then murmuring, "Okay; now stand up regularly again." Once the scribe attains her typical, upright posture, 'lida clips off, "Now back inta' yer former position." Her tone isn't militant, but it definitely requires that Edyis snap to it.

"I am not technically a Harper, I never tested into the hall, didn't have the talent for instruments." The young scribe admits casually, "Leova offered, and I took her up on it, when you understand something, it's far less likely to terrify you in the future." Edyis closes her eyes briefly, before resuming her usual stance in an obedient snap. Dark eyes fix on the blue rider once more, eager curiosity and a spark of something else therein. "Besides, you never know when such knowledge could become extremely useful."

"So I figured..." Alida mouths casually. It's another tiny parcel of information to add to her mental rollodex of 'Ed.' "Might do that myself in the future. Can't harm ta know some more about how ta tend to yer own lifemate." Blink, peer. "You scared uv dragons?" Once the 'scribe' relaxes, then hops to her former position, the bluerider has her "Freeze..." and then once again re-arranges whatever of the other female's limbs are out of 'proper' position. "Feel yer stance. The body remembers, once it's trained." As for useful knowledge, there's merely a small nod and a secretive bit of a little half smirk before the woman's clipping off, "Now back up again." And so this little exercise will continue until Edyis begins to gain the stance 'lida wants from her. It might take only a few minutes, if Ed's a quick learner... orrr... not.

"Yes I was, and some still terrify me. I just have a better poker face now." A wise soul could probably guess which ones. Very still, she allows her limbs to be rearranged, again mentally memorizing each minute adjustment. It takes some doing, the brunt of Edyis' physical education has been running messages, but she isn't slow, over time Alida may discover she's making far fewer adjustments. Of course the furrow in the scribes brow caused by the intense concentration may become permanent. "You've never done something just because you were sick of being scared of doing it?" Her gaze shift slightly, measuring, before she adds: "Like this?"

"Lemme guess: Lythronath an' Hraedhyth," Alida notes with a small, hard little smirk, her eyes touched with a hint of dark humor for a moment as she again re-arranges Ed's limbs. With each repetition of the stance comes more mental recognition, and more muscle memory, the blonde foregoing much more conversation until the scribe inquires that of her. Noted in flat tones: "I was once afraid uv' bein' harmed...so I decided ta become a Guard." If that's not confronting your demons head-on, then likely nothing is. Finally, "Yer gettin' it," is noted to her 'trainee,' 'lida then holding up a palm to stop Ed when she's up straight, again. "Now... I'm gonna try ta to what I first did t'ya." If Edyis isn't listening fully by now, she's in for a surprise. "Don't resist it...but I want you ta take up the stance I've showed you, and see how you land this time. It'll still sting a little, likely, but hopefully the landing'll be smoother, less hard than the first time." And - whether Edyis is ready or not - on the words 'see how you land,' the bluie is again hooking that same ankle with her foot and pushing with her hand upon Ed's shoulder...but this time, in such a fast and fluid motion, it might almost seem like it came from out of the blue...to beginner's eyes.

"Lythronath is - a challenge to get used to." She may even seem a shade green with that admission,"And as sweet as Weyrwoman Azaylia may seem I'd never wish to encounter either beast without their rider present. It doesn't take much to regain the stance, muscle memory is starting to kick in, albeit slowly. This time she's much more prepared for the quick trip down, though it's still somewhat surprising, she also notes the difference in the effort it might take Alida from the first position to her newly acquired one. She doesn't offer resistance however, since she was instructed not to. "I'm starting to think you just want to get me on my back." The quip comes, followed more seriously by, "How under the red star did you get so fast?"

Once Alida's done speaking - while Edyis goes to the mat again, anyway - the blonde moves to one knee beside the scribe, and murmurs, "Feel any different t'ya this time? It did ta me, even though I had you not resist on the way down." Once Edyis responds to the inquiry, the bluerider allows herself to comment, "Hraedhyth has reasons for fierceness, outside of 'er basic personality: 'Don't fuck with my babies, or my Weyr.'" For a moment after stating this, something rather angry flickers just behind those clear, so-green eyes, and is quickly masked under Turns of forced self-composure. Still, the woman notes a little flatly, "Though something uv them retains a bit uv the bestial about it - especially ones like Lythronath - never call a dragon 'beast' in front uv a 'rider. We know better." Give her a moment, and the guard's back to who she usually is once again, climbing back to her feet, and bending over just a bit to offer Edyis another hand back up, if wanted. "Turns 'n turns uv painful practice, painful lessons, an' putting all uv it inta' use on a fairly-consistent basis." Snert.

"It does." She answer's the first query, though quiet settles over as she listens to Alida's comment on the dragons. It's several moments of contemplative quiet, perhaps comparing the masked anger to a similar moment in memory, or perhaps simply waiting for the blonde to finish. Whichever the case, she accepts the hand back up without a second thought, remaining deceptively silent for several moments. "My apologies, there are some things I simply cannot fathom, even with all my study, I hope you won't hold the error against me."

"Good...We'll be practicing this fer another few days before we move on ta' other stuff. Once ya' get it down pat - like a shrug - we'll move on." Up Alida tugs Edyis, to finally comment to her, "No problem. I was basically the same way...before I Impressed Ilicaeth." There's a hint of a lip-twist, then a small smile and faint headshake at the memory of such before she continues, "Guess it's like givin' birth: no way ta really understand until - or if - it happens to ya."

"Must be so. I've lived in Weyrs for two years now and I still don't entirely get the attraction, the miniature ones however, are adorable." Which probably explains why she's so willing to go to crazy lengths to get one. "Is this something I need to practice on my own, or are we particularly focusing on if someone hooks a foot out from under me?"

"I was never really...enamoured uv dragons, except when I was a little girl, uv course." She gets it. As for firelizards, "They're adorable until they wake ya up every three hours ta be fed, when they're babies. Or when they're crawlin' around under yer sheets while yer tryin' ta sleep, 'r when they got thick-tail, and wind up crappin' all over ya..." Eyeroll. As if on cue, a certain - now only-slightly pudgy - gold firelizard pops into the air above the women from Between, Pyrite chirpeling a query to her human before she zips around for a cursory look at the cavern. "Speak uv the Red Star..." Snort. Anyway... "It's meant to be more overall trainin', but yeah, it'll do - for the moment - for when somethin' or somebody tries... shells, even *doesn't* try ta get yer feet out from under ya." It's funny how the often terse blonde can start spewing rivers of words when something near and dear to her heart comes up as conversational subject matter. "The landings 're a tad different if ya go face-first, 'r on a side 'r arm, but it's still all about how ta land properly." If Ed saw - or remembers - their night at that dive in Monaco, she might've seen Alida not only sprawl from her chair to floor without taking much of a bruise, but also roll up nearly to her feet. Maybe that's something extra, for later.

"Sounds like my baby brother." She smirks, and it's an infectious giggle as the gold zips in to view, and Alida's reaction to the little firelizard. "Looks like she's thinned out some, was she sick earlier?" Or overfed seems more likely, but as adorable as the little lizard is, there's important things to be learned, and so after the bluerider's reply, if she even does, the scribe is moving on. "Is the stance the same, but the way you handle going down different? Or a different stance for each situation?" Already falling back into that practice pose, as though trying to sear it into each individual muscle.

That's yet another snippet of information about 'the Ed,' Alida filing it away...and then smirking roughly at the 'scribe's' reaction to Pyrite. "She has...Nah, not sick. She'll likely always be a little pudgy, given 'er enjoyment uv human food and her begging tendencies...but most folk in the living caverns've finally figured it out not ta feed 'er stuff most've the time." While the flit's nosing about, the bluerider attends her pupil with a sort-of nod, adding, "There's certain adjustments, given stance, yer particular opponent, and other things, but don't worry about those, now. Starting off from a simple stand was my own first move." With Edyis' fall into the 'ready' stance comes an only-slightly deliberate advance from the blonde, her own hand already obviously telegraphing her intent to take Ed by the shoulder, her bare feet moving in the same fashion as before...if Ed's watching. Take down time is coming!

"So this was the first lesson your father taught you?" Curious, as she catches the movement, only preparing a little resistance to further feel the difference her stance makes. It isn't much, since she is likely once more to go down without much fight. It's only if she goes down that she adds, "Was he proud, when you became a guard, and when you impressed?" Catching her breath again, and assessing which areas felt the blow the most keenly.

"No." Pause, nose-wrinkle. "I was the child uv a Guard, so I got taught a little faster, tougher." Alida won't elaborate on it any further, though, since she's coming at Edyis, just like before. With the scribe's resistance, however, comes the bluerider's first honest 'working' at bringing her opponent down, more than simple momentum and her trainee's 'ignorance' now employed to once more bring Ed to the mat. Likely, the other woman can feel the actual 'shove' from 'lida's hand to her own shoulder, this time, the actual *jerk* of her instep behind that ankle. As always, the guard guides Edyis down for an injury-free fall. It's only while the other Reachian is internally assessing her own state that the bluie comments flatly, "He died when I was eleven."

The difference is noticed, so much so that the younger woman may even giggle a little when assessing, "Never would have thought that it would make that much of a difference." The wild grin, betraying her enjoyment of the lesson and it's fruits. It's when the green eyed woman speaks at last that Edyis sobers, "I'm sorry for your loss." It's not an empty parroting of the words, but rather colored by something genuine in the scribe's expression. "What happened?" The question spoken softly.

There's only a brief nod from Alida, no words this time, but the woman looks quietly pleased for Edyis' experience and realization of how so 'simple' a thing can make such a difference. "If y' have access to a full length reflector, observe yerself as you stand normally, then how ya fall into a ready state, then back again. Don't rely on it, though. Makes ya *too* self-conscious." For the scribe's condolences, there's only a singular, small bob of her pale head, 'lida ready to move onward when that question touches her consciousness. For a moment, her whole aspect - eyes, features, even body language - is devoid of any telling nuances as greens gaze into blues. It's only when Pyrite drifts back over to her pet human, and tries to land on one shoulder, that the bluerider 'unfreezes' and looks human again, instead of a perfectly-carved and painted piece of stone. Gently shooing the little gold off with light sweeps of her fingers, the woman once again offers Ed a hand up while replying, "It's assumed he 'n the two others with 'im got caught in an avalanche." Shrug. When they're both on their feet again, Pyrite looks to land on Ed's near shoulder.

Sometimes the absence of expression says as much as an expression itself. Dark brown eyes, fixed on the woman as she freezes, and then as pyrite's shooing breathes life back into the former guard. Accepting Alida's pull to her feet, she stands. Edyis doesn't bother to shoo the little creature from her shoulder, but offers a few pats as tribute knowing the creature would take flight once she'd gotten her fill of attention. "Assumed?" She murmurs, not wanting to push Alida into an uncomfortable topic, but also unable to completely halt her own curious nature.

The hide under Edyis' fingers is smooth and flexible, warm and soft, Pyrite churring her pleasure at those touches, and remaining where she is to soak up the luv. "The bodies were never found, since they had ta wait until late Spring ta even start searchin' the pass." On to other things, though. "While we're training - no matter what the time, 'r how inta' it we are - I want you ta' tell me *right away* if ya ever feel any less than well. I don't mean stinging' after a fall 'r sore after a bruise, but anything else...'specially if ya feel weak 'r dizzy...'r any kind of continual, dull pain. Or a sharp one."

The scribe can't help but smile at the attention-seeking churr, all too happy to spread the luv, for as long as the tiny beastie tolerates it. She files away the information, as the bluerider changes topics, concern furrowing her brow, "I suppose I can assume that those are all symptoms of some form of serious injury? Would the onset be swift or gradual?" She mentally takes inventory of her current aches but relaxes when it comes back clean. Not that her trainer has been anything but gentle given the lesson being taught.

"Don't worry about it...not now, anyway. That kind uv' concern c'n affect yer performance," Alida mellowly 'warns' her pupil, smirking just a little at the interaction between Edyis and Pyrite. "Watch out; she's rarely ever gotta' full tank." No matter, "They *can* be, certainly. They c'n also be signs of fainting, uv' bein' pushed too much, uv just not feelin' fully up ta a session. Or the start uv things like muscle tears, sprains, yadda-yadda." Handwave. "Just inform me of anything odd right away, so we c'n hopefully *avoid* anything worse later on. Some things come on slower, others immediately." Shrug. "After ya wake up t'morrow morning, y'might have a few small aches from usin' muscles ya haven't done much with before. That's perfectly normal. They'll work themselves out if ya stretch *carefully*, an' with time. Don't overdo it."

Edyis laughs, with regard to Pyrite, not that it stops the petting. "I will keep that warning in mind, and be sure not to feed her." The rest she seems to take careful note of each symptom and what it might indicate. "I don't think it will be a problem, but I will tell you right away if I notice anything more strange than muscle aches and bruises. How often do you think you'll have time to train me?" Since the bluerider must clearly be a busy woman after all.

And, true to her wanting nature, Pyrite continues to soak up all the affection Edyis offers, the little gold starting to lean her shoulder into the scribe's cheek and jaw. "If she gets on yer nerves, just lightly shoo her off with yer fingers. She'll get the hint...after a few repetitions." Smirkie. A pair of sage nods is offered to the other woman's promise, Alida then doing a few mental calculations before shaking her head once and murmuring to Ed, "Just depends, really. Got Wing drills, tending ta 'Caeth 'n Lady, over there..." eyeroll "...occasional Wing meetings, sweeps..." Sigh. "Once in awhile, I pull Watch duty...not ta mention personal down time, an' maybe even a sick day 'r two." Hmmm. "Very roughly, maybe once a sevenday, twice at very best. Y'll have ta keep up efforts on yer own ta truly learn, uv course...but you c'n try ta get a hold uv me if ya wanna talk about somethin' between lessons. Pyrite's often about when I'm busy, 'r you c'n catch another Glacier 'rider an' tell 'em ya wanna talk with me soon."

Edyis nods, continuing to pet the affectionate gold, as she calculates on her own. "Once or twice a seven would be good. I'll practice to the best of my ability on my own of course, you are taking the time to train me after all." There's a snicker for 'Caeth and Lady, and she grins, "I haven't forgotten that I promised to sketch you three either." Which probably also means that she'll be happy to help when she's got information to pass along or something of that nature, if Alida catches her meaning. "Shouldn't be a problem, I might be out of the weyr myself a bit, with various projects, but I should be able to give plenty of warning ahead of time if it interferes with our training."

"If I'm not available, an' y'feel like ya really need an extra lesson 'r workout, ya' might look up G'laer, green Teisyth's rider. He's a guard, too. Uv course, since ya might feel like keeping this whole thing under wraps..." Then Ed might *not* want to...but honestly, that's ultimately up to her. "You c'n alway say yer just takin' lessons from me ta keep ya safe from some randy bronzers." The false cover is really rather legitimate, given the nature of the male bronzerider libido and ego at High Reaches. There's a knowing nod from Alida to word of the sketch and unspoken-of 'extras' that might accompany it, the bluie responding with a vaguely-humored, "Ilicaeth's lookin' forward to it...when he can remember." Nod. "Excellent. I'll try ta get word ta you if the same happens fer me... but it c'n be tougher, given my work." Sometimes riders are summoned to do something quite suddenly, and are expected to obey.

"I remember G'laer, Teisyth's the green with the large teeth and the pretty rust washes isn't she?" Remarking on the coloring she remembers, granted Teisyth was tiny at the time. "I'm sure he's probably capable of being discreet about it, but now that I think about it, with as often as I'm around bronze riders, I really probably should have started learning self defense a long time ago." Clearly the ones she hangs out with most often behave around her. "Understood, I appreciate you taking the time. This was more fun than I thought it would be."

"That's them..." Alida notes casually, though her strange little smirk-smile might speak of other things running around in her mind in regards to the twangy-accented green and perhaps her rider. "Yep; just make certain ya tell him in no uncertain terms ya want it ta remain private. Not that he's a talker, but..." Shrug. Better safe than sorry...and he *does* have a weyrmate. And suddenly, there's a low huff of dark laughter - brief but real - for Edyis' word of bronzeriders, the guard finally murmuring, "R'hin's only a little different than most uv the rest uv that lot. He's got enough Turns on 'im ta allow 'im ta think somewhat more with 'is big head than 'is little one. I betcha he still trips up every-so-often." Smirk. A bob of her plaited head at Ed's thanks is followed by a small lofting of both brows, soon followed by an only slightly wicked, "Yer likely not gonna think that once the real pain starts." Which is not - thankfully - now, though the bluerider does finally lift her pet up and away from Edyis' shoulder, and to a nearby bench, where the little gold curls up loosely on a towel and observes the humans. She's devoted more time than usual to this first, special lesson, and so - when both women are done another hour and a half later - Alida's enjoying herself, and Ed is... well, enjoying herself, too?
