>---< Nighthearth, High Reaches Weyr(#1549RJ) >------------------------------<

With its entrance located between the kitchen and the living cavern, this
tiny bubble cavern is cozy, always kept warm and is filled with
comfortable chairs and a small round table. At the far end, there's a
hearth, outlined in ruddy, aging bricks, where a pot of stew simmers in
the evening hours. Generally quiet, the nighthearth is the haunt of
insomniacs and those seeking quiet from the bustle of daily Weyr life.

Spring has come and the night is as pleasant as the day was, though the breeze has picked up and the chill has slowly begun to return to remind those in Fort of a winter not long past them. E'dre's settled at the nighthearth with one of his youngest daughter's fast asleep in his lap and wrapped in one of the many afghans that linger around the space. The brownrider looks to be near drowsing himself as he stares into the flickering flames.

The chill is certainly more than enough to chase Celestra out of the Records Room, especially at the end of her shift, and find refuge in someplace warmer. With several books in hand, the young Harper finds herself in the Nighthearth. The food, for now, is left alone as she takes a seat near the fire, the soft crackling of wood the only sound. The Weyrleader and his daughter go unnoticed for a moment as she settles, books now in her lap. "Ah, good evening, sir." she greets, voice soft in consideration of the sleeping child as her head bobs in a small nod of acknowledgement.

"Now that she's asleep, she'll sleep through anything," E'dre answers drily as he shifts in his seat to better get a look at Celestra. He jerks his chin towards a table that hosts a small collection of books. "I was reading to her here for some time without her sisters and she fell asleep." A shrug is given followed by a small smile. "I haven't wanted to move." He glances at the books on her lap. "Bringing work home with you?"

There's a soft chuckle from Celestra at E'dre's comment about his daughter, her gaze drifting to the afghan-wrapped little girl. At the jerk of his chin, eyes shift to the books on the table he indicates. "I don't blame you. These chairs are rather comfortable. I find myself indulging in them here quite often." Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing has yet to be seen. A glance to her own books, a small smile curling the edge of her lips. "Ah.. yes. I usually read in the Records Room when I'm on duty.. but otherwise, I'd prefer somewhere warmer." Like here, especially in this type of weather.

"A reader? That's good. I try and read to my girls when I'm able to. Of late.. it's been more challenging. But I'm trying," E'dre comments, his tiredness perhaps leading him to be more forthcoming with his wandering thoughts. He brushes a hand through his hair and considers the fire for a moment before he looks back to the Harper. "Have you been here long? Forgive me, but I can't remember your name."

"Ah, my name's Celestra. I have been posted her for several months." she introduces, inclining her head once more, offering E'dre a soft smile. "A reader I am, of primarily Pern's history. My specialty is archives." she explains, lifting one book to show it's title, identifying it as one of the many volumes of a collective of Pern's history. "I occasionally read other types... but reading in general can help broaden the mind. It is good that you start them off young." A nod at his young child. "Even as busy as I'm sure you are."

"Well met," E'dre nods at her supplied name and taps his temple, "I'll do better to remember it now." He seems generally interested in her comments that follow and his eyes drift towards the title of the book he is shown. "I'll have to keep your interests in mind when I need information from our past. Recently, I've been researching different styles of past leadership. Navigating personalities... is an interesting task set to me." He glances towards the fire again and extends a leg in a stretch towards it. "Fire's nice," he comments, settling back and shifting Eden in his lap. "Are you settled then here at Fort? Do you find it to your liking?"

A wider smile spreads on her lips. "Of course. I am usually on duty in the Records Room whenever you might have any questions. Of course, there are books available for your perusal... but should you not be inclined to search through all of them..." This time Celestra taps her own temple, "I have plenty of information here." As for personalities... "I believe it's more experience-based, when it comes to something like that. Each person will have their own way of managing." A glance to the fire and back. "Weyr culture is somewhat different from the Hold, but I do believe I am enjoying myself so far."

Whatever E'dre may have said is interrupted as Eden stirs on his lap and asks in a sleepy-sounding voice, "I want mommy." E'dre gives Celestra an apologetic smile as he shifts his daughter in his lap and heaves himself up. "I'll utilize your brain, Celestra. Trust me. I'll need all the help I can get from residents and riders alike." He shifts Eden up against his shoulder with a grunt. "I'll leave you to your reading. Let me know if there's anything you need to make things easier for you here." He gives her a nod in parting and then heads out towards his own weyr.
