Lounge Lizard Egg

This egg lies at an angle in the sand, listing dangerously to one side and yet miraculously not falling down. Ruby red wraps it like a jacket, thin black gridwork stitched between the crimson so each inch glitters and pops like a jewel. Gathering up at the apex of the egg, those black lines thicken and come together into an inky curl with a smooth, seductive gleam.

The Lounge Lizard Egg shakes and wobbles like there's a battle royale going on inside. Cracks appear rapidly all over the surface before finally with a great rattle a head pops out of the barrier keeping the hatchling inside. With a roaring creel the brown claws his way out and then strikes a defiant pose amidst the clutter of shell fragments and goo.

Rowdy Rebellion Brown

Like a favourite well-loved and abused jacket, everything about this brown seems just a bit worn and rough around the edges. Dark, faded leather, the colour of warm mud, covers him from nose to tail. He's gangly overall, which is only emphasized by his unusually large head and the jagged angle of his sharp chin. A single stripe of mahogany streaks down his neck, starting between spiky headknobs and following bold neckridges to his shoulders. As for his wide, auburn wings, they find themselves dotted by pinpoints of silvery-red, giving the appearance of strange stubble. Below the knees, the leathery colour is replaced by corroded brown, making his talons seem even blacker by comparison. Those large feet don't help him appear any more coordinated, nor does the length of his pointy, weapon-like tail, encircled with rust-coloured rings.

Temperament

It is immediately apparent that Sivrudith does not have a mean bone in his body. This is a vital realization because he is going to be a handful and a terror. It will only take a few days for him to realize he is big and there are smaller items he can stomp on and destroy. At first, he might appear clumsy - but he's not. He finds no joy in accidental destruction, but willful damage he gets to witness and savor will always have a spot in his heart. It's not something he'll grow out of, so effort will be required to at least teach him that, no, Taineth's rider will not appreciate his cot being stomped to splinters. Sivrudith is also not interested in lessons. « I'm bored, Sooz my mate. Why do we need to learn this? » When you get him to settle down and focus, he'll pick things up with surprising quickness. « Well, why didn't they say that in the first place? Of course that makes sense. » He's not dumb, but he prefers intuition over intellect. It'll be your job to get him to see that brains have a place in the world as well.

Sivrudith is not one of those dragons who will let go easily, either; he loves you and wants to share in everything you do. When the others are starting to be more comfortable away from their riders, Sivrudith will still want to be doing exactly what you are doing. If you go somewhere he can't, he expects you to make it quick and keep a running commentary of what you're seeing. If that's not provided, his mindvoice will manage to get even louder than it usual is, rising to deafening levels until you are able to reassure him.

Then there's the metal. Metal fascinates him and if any stray buckle or button gets laid down he'll pick it up and carefully tuck it away. When it comes time to make straps, be prepared to deal with requests for buckles everywhere. « Just two more, Sooz my mate. It needs to show we mean business! »

While it may seem like Sivrudith is going to be a handful for the rest of your life, that's not the case. Young punks turn into old punks and they learn to give and take. While he'll always be a fan of anarchy, he'll learn to create chaos in subtler ways. If it seem like he might sway his wingmates to go swimming or skim the treetops instead of drills, he'll slyly make suggestions until he's able to convince another dragon that they came up with the idea all by themselves. Sivrudith will just be agreeing with it because he wanted to help his mate feel wanted. Nothing suspicious at all! Meanwhile, his fascination with metal will only grow and while he'll suffer your pottery, you will be expected to visit smiths and help him find the perfect metallic accent for his straps or the weyr. « Come on, Sooz my mate we need a bit more flash in the weyr. It'll make the men go crazy. »

Should you find yourself looking for advancement for any reason, you'll wind up fighting Sivrudith tooth and nail. If you go after anything contrary to his rebellious nature, he's going to make you work for it, make you prove you haven't become a mere tool of the ruling class. What you want is important to him and he'll eventually give in, but he needs to make sure it's something you really want. Sivrudith doesn't believe in living with regrets. When you do get upset he will drop everything to comfort you. His favorite method of therapy? Breaking things. « You'll feel better if you give it a smash, Sooz. » Sivrudith will happily support you in other ways too, even if means sharing his mate. Sivrudith will embrace any relationship you choose to get involved in, even if he can't resist teasing you about it from time. Despite the occasional joke, he'll go out of his way to help out if you need it.

Being a ladies' man to the core, Sivrudith is not going to be just interested in chasing, but also in spending all his free time with any green who wants to be his groupie. He'll be one of the first in his class to notice girls, although he won't be so far ahead of the curve that he's out chasing them before the others. When he does take to the skies hold on tight, because it's going to be a wild ride. Sivrudith expects the other chasers to play along with his grand old time, and the same goes for you. In the thick of things he'll bump, block, and knock the other males around--not to try to win per se, but because it's so darn fun! Should he catch, Sivrudith has no interest in sticking around. Wham bam thank you ma'am and the world's full of ladies. Should he win a goldflight he'll be completely uninterested in his progeny or in remaining with the dam of his clutch. Should that happen it'll be up to you to soothe over any potential messes.

Unfortunately for you, Sivrudith does not play well with others. Not because he thinks he can do better, but because he doesn't like being part of a strictly ordered system. He wants to do what he wants to do. This will especially come out if you'd rather not be drilling right now, as he'll take advantage of your temporary hesitance and plead with you to go and have some fun. He'll expend all the energy other dragons are using to practice and learn trying to convince you it'd be much better if you go to the Sandbar while he takes a dip in the ocean. It'll be up to you, Suizen, to keep him a working member of the wing.

Unsurprisingly, Sivrudith has no interest in ever leading a wing of his own. All that work just to be a cog in the hierarchy? Forget that noise! But when he is working as he should, Sivrudith is a sight to behold. There'll hardly be any other dragon so in tune with the movements of his wingmates. They're all moshing together to the same beat in that instant and even though it may make him a tool of the establishment, he'll revel in it and want you to as well.

Public Impression Message

Rowdy Rebellion Brown stops suddenly on his quest for more enjoyable destruction. What's this? There's people out here. His audience is closer than he thought. With a sudden rush of energy he runs headlong into the candidates and stops just shy of knocking into a tanned woman covered in freckles.

Private Impression Message

The noise on the sands grows louder and louder until it's a cacophony of screams and hollers. There's nowhere to escape the noise as it surrounds you and as suddenly as it might drive you to your knees you're within it and inside it's not so bad. « There you are! » The words ring with jarring strings and forceful drum beats. « Suizen come on now. Don't just be standing there. Your Sivrudith has come to save you from the stodgy establishment and let the party begin! Let's get a move on. » A string snaps suddenly and the noisy crowd in your head quiets a moment. « But come on and feed Sivrudith first will you, mate? »

Mindvoice

Quiet time is, unfortunately, over for good with the arrival of Sivrudith. Even when he's not speaking there will be background noise for all you do. Rowdy yelling and the sounds of guitar and drum will be your new soundtrack for life. As he gets older he'll learn to quiet himself for you and eventually with practice you'll be able to pick out the strains of actual music in the mess when he's telling you something serious. When angry or agitated there will be the whiff of smoke to accompany his words, but mostly Sivrudith is an aural fellow and it's all in the music and the words.

Inspiration

Sivrudith's straight out of London, but there's no high tea where he hails from. Instead Sivrudith comes from the underground punk movement that's known for loud music, rowdy behavior, and bucking the establishment. First thoughts of London may lead to prim and proper governesses, but there's so much more to it and your Sivrudith is so much more than just a brown. You wanted someone not like Suizen and it's safe to say Sivrudith is not practical and while he's no flighty, girlie dragon he's got fire aplenty to mix with Sooz's earth. It was this picture that truly gave me the idea for Sivrudith: here.

Name: Sivrudith - A combination of Sid Vicious, and a touch of The Clash's song, "Rudie Can't Fail."

Egg Inspiration: Lounge lizards are a staple of every seedy gambling joint. They dress like Elvis, sing like Sinatra, and drink like Boris Yeltsin.
