Roiling Nightmare Egg

'In the nick of time' could apply to Lhiannonth's arrival - she just has time to smooth out a hollow in the sand before she crouches for the arrival of a dark, mucus-y egg. Paying no mind to its less-than-appealing appearance, the gold steps aside and mounds sand around it briskly.

Glistening with a slick-appearing surface, thick gobbets of near gelatinous, clear slime seem to ooze their way down and across the midnight surface of this nightmare egg. Black as space - an ebony which destroys all light and hope - the curves of the elongated sphere hint at possible reflections of sickly green and roiling purple with the stray touch of ambient light. Creeping, undulating, spreading like a disease, tentacular arcs and knobby protrusions draw a bizarre landscape of terror from base to apex - leading the eye deeper into the nest of horrors which lie, waiting, within.

Roiling Nightmare Egg shudders with an intensity that speaks to the occupant's determination to get out, right now. Finally, a large crack mars the surface, and moments later, a small, amber-touched green spills out onto the hot sands.

Vivacious Sunlit Green

Lithe, the sprawled bundle of this amber-touched green may at first seem all limbs, being sleek of lines and little bulk to her name; her slender neck wending down along narrow ridges to a slightly chubby tail that quivers with energy. Though her hide is predominately a deep shade of emerald, it's marbled here and there by hints of amber, as if lit from beneath by the light of Rukbat itself. There's a dark mark on her muzzle, shadowed greenish-grey, that'll never fade despite numerous scrubbings, but it lends character to the poignantly charming face she has, as it splatters unevenly across the slight hump along her snout, no doubt a result of her parentage. Sprightly wingsails lift high above her shoulders, brilliant in their finely-webbed verdent lushness, and are just translucent enough to let through that soft glow of sunlight. The world about her is studied with eminent fascination, delight lighting up her rainbow-faceted eyes at even the most mundane of things, and she appears to have bathed in the lake of boundless enthusiasm for life.

Temperament

Ah, Kaylith's enthusiasm knows no bounds! In fact, while young, her boundless energy matches and indeed - outstrips yours; unable to sit still when she's awake, she's a fountain of bubbliness punctuated by restless movement. While others might find her enthusiasm a little too much at times, she'll rarely let that dissuade her from her being exactly who she is. She'll develop close ties with her clutchmates, and indeed, in time come to consider them family. While she'll never be the least bit intimidating, she has a tendency to overwhelm any disagreements by dint of her eternally chipper personality. That Tavaith is in a prickly mood because he didn't get to try flying -first-? « Oh, not to worry, Tavaith. You'll do so much better and I bet they'll be something nice as a reward, a good oiling or something! Won't that be -fun-? »

She's fond of comfortable, colorful surroundings, and will seek to have you outfit her weyr to suit those desires. A bright weyr to suit a bright dragon - it seems a perfect fit, indeed. Because of her small size - one of the smallest in the weyr - she doesn't need much room; she's one to make do of what space she has, and it's enough to call it her home.

Adulthood will also bring with it a greater understanding of the interplay between dragons, and also between people. And with it, her enthuasism will be tempered as she she learns to listen and observe, becoming advisor to your more reckless moods. < He did what he did, Shanlee, because he thought it right. Is that not what is important? Doing what is right? » Kaylith will become a soothing balm to your tempers, pointing out things you hadn't considered, becoming your voice of caution as you settle in as a representative of the dragonriders of Pern. She will have a tendency to pull your thoughts towards the greater picture, putting your ideas into perspective.

Kaylith will also develop odd tendency to talk about the Weyr as if it has a personality of its own. She'll take insults to the Weyr very seriously - and very personally - the Weyr is her 'Serenity', after all. She has more of a preference for staying closer to the Weyr than going out venturing, though she will do so at your behest. Generally, however, she has much more of a preference for -hearing- about other places. She loves to meet new people, hear stories of distant places - the stories are usually much more exciting than the reality, after all. « Oh, Greystones? Is it as strange looking as I've heard? Is everyone there grey? It must be a dreary place to live! »

Kaylith's not much for subterfuge when it comes time to being proddy. As if the brightness of her hide won't be enough of a giveaway, she makes it perfectly clear to any male who'll listen that she's close to rising. She loves hearing about herself, and will lap up any praise that comes her way. Never make the mistake of thinking Kaylith can't be demanding, for she'll disabuse you of that notion entirely when she's not getting the attention she deserves while proddy. When she wants things, she'll let you know, that's for sure - there's no way you can ignore her when she's in your mind, and during this time in particular, she'll ruthlessly invade your thoughts, making it difficult to concentrate or do much of anything, really.

In the skies, Kaylith's a true master: with her small size, her agility and acrobatics are a thing of beauty, indeed. She'll lead her suitors on a merry chase - not one of stamina, but one of speed, cunning and guile - the only dragons that'll catch her will be those agile enough to keep up, or smart enough to catch her at -just- the right moment.

Public Impression Message

Vivacious Sunlit Green traipses along with winds held aloft, skidding to an abrupt halt. With a tilt of her head, she gives a little crooning-trill that seems half surprise, half query. It seems she's found someone of particular interest, for she barrels closer, almost knocking over the petite white-robed girl in the process.

Private Impression Message

There's an odd sound in your head. It sounds almost like the babbling of a gentle river, water coursing against rocks. « I really like it here. » The voice is sweet, high, familiar somehow. It's not your voice, but it kind of sounds like you. « I mean, it's warm and there's so many people and they're all looking at me! Well, they're looking at you, but more of them are looking at me. » Somehow, you know the Vivacious Sunlit Green Hatchling is talking to you, and you alone. Even if she weren't just about to bowl you over, you'd know it. It just feels -right-. « Ah-ha, there you are, Shanlee! I've been looking for you -everywhere-. This is going to be wonderful, isn't it? I'm Kaylith! »

Mindvoice

She's water, through and through; by default she's a babbling brook of peaceful blues, always in motion and chattering away. On the rare occasions where she gets upset, she'll be a roaring torrent, overwhelming in intensity. That's not to say she doesn't listen, by any means, but she just can't help to share her bright, bubbly view of the world with any dragon who'll sit still enough to listen (and even some that may not!).

Dragon Inspirations

Kaywinnit Lee Frye, of the TV series Firefly and subsequent movie, Serenity. You asked for a dragon with a sense of humor and fun to match Shanlee's, and Kaylee immediately sprung to mind. (Also, I heard you're a Firefly fan, which of course just sweetends the pot). / Kaylith, pronounced Kay-leth, is a simple variation on Kaylee's name. A Kaylee dragon needed something sweet-sounding to fit the dragon you requested and this seemed most appropriate.

Egg Inspiration: Inspired by the 'secreted resin' caverns the Aliens made their nests of in the ALIEN series.
