Dynamics
Sleet can be a challenging wing to run, as it comprises all the pairs no longer considered able to fly in the fighting wings, and helps them make the most of their individual capabilities to serve the Weyr. There is also less stability given that its ranks swell with the incapacitated during times of Threadfall, while during Interval, more riders leave this wing through death than any other.
Wingleader Y'vin has one wingsecond, P'teer, focus on scheduling watchriders for High Reaches' beholden Holds and Halls as well as its own Star Stones, and assigning delivery and elevator duties when there aren't weyrlings able to perform the tasks. Watchful dragons and riders capable of informative (some say gossip-filled) reports are highly valued in this area.
The second wingsecond, U'ten, organizes the pairs no longer capable of the above duties, and exercises each pair according to its ability, so as to keep them as sharp and in as good spirits as possible. Their riders may be assigned lower caverns tasks as appropriate (and somehow, many of those tasks are able to be performed while sitting around and shooting the breeze). This wingsecond is also assigned to interview riders throughout the wing so as to preserve their knowledge and recollections for posterity.
In the end, a rider assigned to Sleet can expect to serve his or her remaining Turns as productively as possible and (ignoring the cranky complainers) in good company besides.
