In the wee hours of the morning, Jolie stashed herself in one of the runner stalls in the stables to get some privacy. Even since being searched for candidacy, the former stablehand found herself not able to fully tear herself away from the only and truly familiar atmosphere that the stables provided for her. So it's here she went, clutching the note she received from her 'uncle' Zuman in one hand. She had already sent the arriving blue firelizard on its way, the little thing popping in while she was in the middle of changing the glows down in the inner caverns.

Unrolling the note again, this time Jolie gave it longer study than she did when it had first arrived. It didn't do to keep her family waiting for any response, after all:

My dear niece,

We are very pleased with your progress thus far. The news that you are making friends in all the right places gladdens our hearts. We do love to read the stories you've been sending us of your life at the Weyr.

Please continue to keep an eye on our less-than-trustworthy mutual friend. We fear she is not as reliable as she once was. However, she will be approaching you soon with a business proposition. Do not fear, this is on our behalf. We feel it will enable to continue to make all the right friends in all the right places. Looking forward to your next round of stories, and much luck to you.

Your uncle, Zuman

Jolie's eyes roamed over the note a few times while the runnerbeast that occupied the stall she in snorted and flicked its tail. The convict candidate was pleased that they were pleased, and that she stayed on the right track with them. It even brought a little smile to her face after the second time reading it, before she finally took her eyes off the note and began rolling it back up.

Oh yeah, she'll continue alright. As long as the gang was keeping her non-existent to those looking to drop her ass back into the mines, she'll be right as rain with them. And as for their mutual friend...

Jo got to her feet, brushing dirt from her pants as the note gets pocketed. She could hear the other stablehands coming in to start their routines, and she didn't want to have to explain to them her reason for being there. Not that she would have answered them, anyway. She was going to flash that candidate knot about like it was the perfect whiskey to getting a broad to drop her skirts, and no one would think twice about why she is where she is - when she is. So the former stablehand opened the stall door and closed it quietly, merely passing the first to arrive a tight smile and nod as she made her way out of the stables and back to the Weyr proper.

And as for their mutual friend....well. She'll do that, too. It's high time she had checked on the one called Taikrin, after all. The fact that she will be looking for her will make that all the more easy. If they didn't trust Taikrin, then Jo had to trust that the brownrider was a problem - and a problem she had no qualms in watching. Time to step her game up.

Her written response to them? I will find out how reliable she really is. Don't worry.I await your proposition.

That was her last thought on the matter before she reached the candidate quarters, wiping the note's contents from her mind as she got down to the tasks of the day, and to dealing with the other candidates neutrally beyond.
