The winter cold makes the greenhouse one of Edyis' preferred thinking spots these days, at least that seems to be where the scribe is headed as she makes her way past the curve of the lake's edge. Of course the blue gives her a moment's pause as she studies him a moment, pausing just near Jo's bench but not entirely aware of the rider's presence. Yet.

Tacuseth looks like a dragon ninja in the night, really. His one eye seems trained on Edyis as she arrives, and one can be sure that some sort of silent communication has taken place between rider and dragon for Jo to speak without a single muscle being moved: "That's not her, Tac." That's all. Perhaps the bluerider hasn't seen her face just yet as well, but she's shifting up as if she's about to.

The young scribe recognizes the voice, and chuckles. "I see why Alida warned me about you now. Set an ambush for some poor innocent you plan to whisk off and wring dry." Amusement glitters in those dark eyes as she turns to focus on the rider, curious. "Who were you waiting for?"

Half way up to a seated position until she recognizes the voice, "And yet ya willingly walked into it," Jo has a comeback, running a hand through her mess of hair as she chooses instead to prop up on one elbow. She's open in looking Edyis over before adding, "Waitin' for a laundress that's been complainin' of back aches. I happen to be well-trained in pain relief. Yer needin' some relief, too?" The way that one sounds, it's a far less innocent-sounding question.

"Mm, most of my pain relief comes from a jar. Besides, you'd have more luck with the laundress I'm sure, seems like the lot of them are far more experienced than you'd find with me." Edyis laughs, "Besides I've gotten quite good at running."

Laughing, "Who said anythin' about experience, darlin'?" Jo notes, brows lifting momentarily as she pushes herself to sit upright in order to shove her hands into her riding jacket. "So ya run," she chooses to pick that one up then. "What else do ya do besides runnin' and recordkeepin'?" Ah-hah, she remembers.

"Little bit of this, little bit of that." She counters, moving to sit in the newly vacated space on the bench. "Pick up whatever skills I can as I go. What about you. What do you get into when the wing and your quarry aren't keeping you occupied?"

"Skills for keepin' records, or...?" Jo asks in humor, pulling free a flask with one hand. "Does Alida teach'a stuff?" As for herself, there's a slight little shrug as she looks over to her dragon briefly before answering, "Oh, I get into all sorts of things. Likely why we haven' really met till now. Let's just say I try'n stay in trouble instead of out of it." Whatever that means.

"Oh that would be boring wouldn't it? If the only thing I was interested in was records. I like learning a little bit of everything really, dragonhealing, herbs, you name it." She grins at the second, "And what kind of trouble do you get into, sounds absolutely fascinating."

"Dragonhealin'," Jo echoes that one, head cocking a little one side as she regards the younger woman. "That somethin' yer lookin' to get into. One of my close friends is doin' that. Kaitlyn, if ya ever run into her at the infirmary. Brownrider." She leans back then, laughter in her voice for the question on trouble as she spreads her arms wide, flask held and all, as she returns a question with one of her own: "Ya mean, I'm suppose to be doin' somethin' worse than lyin' in wait for laundresses with bad backs?" Hands dropping before she unlids the flask, "Aww now, darlin', if I tell, that'd be cheatin'. Guess ya'd just have to find out, hm?" The tease lies bare, playful and dangerous at the same time as she takes a drink.

"I'll keep an eye out for her then." Of finding out, Edyis chuckles darkly, "That would be rattling the cage while the door is ajar wouldn't it?" She smirks, "Didn't you know I almost always cheat? Never make a wager you aren't certain to win."

"Ya seem like yer curious enough to risk a little cage-rattlin'," Jo notes, holding out the flask towards Edyis in silent offer. "Warned about me'n all and yet yer still here, askin' me about trouble." As if that's proof enough to her. "And, anyway, I like to keep ladies thinkin' I'm all dark'n mysterious," she goes on to say with waggling brows. "Doesn' work as well on the men, but then, all they really care about is seein' my ass. Tell me about where ya grew up, Edyis. Yer on yer own here at the Weyr? Yer folks one of them riders?"

Accepting the flask she makes a quick press of it to her lips, testing the liquid, and enjoying the rush of warmth it brings. "It's kind of fun, one of those pastimes I suppose that became habit. See how close you can get without getting burned." Thoughtful, before dark and mysterious earns a chuckle. "Mm, I could probably learn a thing or three from you on that score. I'm from Esvay Hold, just over the mountains from Keogh, and it's just me here." Passing the flask back after another sip.

"Somethin' strong from Ista," Jo vaguely explains the contents in the flask as Edyis takes it for a drink. "They're good at doin' sweet'n and heavy." Beat. "Ever gotten burned before?" she asks now on games, and then on the next there's open laughter and a, "Nah, ya seem too innocent'n nice to pull it off, darlin'. Why just ya here? Apprenticin'?" She takes the flask back and brings to her lips.

"It's good." She says of the flasks contents, though she has to think about the question. "Don't usually let them get close enough to burn me." Before her innocence elicits darker laughter, "I'm glad someone still feels that way. No, I just couldn't live the way I had before. Not after everything had changed so drastically. before after everything had changed so drastically. First decision I ever really made for myself, I've got friends here now, serve as good as family and my stepmother and half-siblings keep in touch."

"Keep'em at arm's length," Jo is nodding on her words, lidding the flask and putting it back into her jacket. "So yer not innocent? Should I ask?" and she's looking Edyis over once more in a teasing manner. She sobers up on her words about family, nodding once to that before she answers, "Yeah, know whatcha mean. More or less what hapened to me too, back there. Keogh. If ya ever need a lift back there to visit though, if no one's offered, me'n Tac'll take ya, hm?" She's up with those words, dusting any debris from her leathers as she looks toward the bowl.

"Define innocent? If you're referring to sex, then I've come impossibly close a few times but never could get the courage to follow through. If you are referring to my general nature, well the jury is still out on that one." She says with a smile, glancing over as the bluerider "I'll think about taking you up on that. Good luck with your laundress Jo. Thanks for the drink." Edyis is assuming that the rider is preparing to depart.

"Both, actually," Jo answers on innocence, amusement hitching up at her response. "I like a girl that's blunt. Honest. Well, I can say it's hard to maintain either form in a Weyr." She nods when Edyis agrees on the offer, stepping from the bench with a slap to her leathered thighs before saying towards her dragon, "Just as well she's a no-show. Gotta meetin' to suddenly make. I'll see ya around?" this sent to the young woman as she moves away, backwards. "Not a problem, darlin'. I can always use one more drinkin' partner."

"It would be my pleasure." Though probably not intended in the way Jo's likely to take it, "I haven't forgotten I owe you a drink. See you around."

"I'll be collectin' on that one soon," is all Jo sends behind her as she turns and walks forward - likely meant for the latter, but if one knows her by now, the former statement could have easily fit that answer from her as well.
