Snowasis, High Reaches Weyr
The Snowasis is rarely quiet, and even then, the high-ceilinged former
weyr is kept from echoing by the fantastical booths tucked into its
convoluted perimeter. The secluded seating spaces have been shaped from
the truncated stalagmites that escaped the smoothing of the main floor,
and are both softened and separated by colorful hangings that are thick
and opaque enough to make each corner its own private nook.

Some of the smaller stalactites still roam the ceiling, their jagged teeth
tracing a bumpy, inverted spine to the hearth. There, a thick rug with a
low klah table and comfortable armchairs and couches sit, their upholstery
and cushions changed sporadically to match the season: bright, light
colors in the summer, fresh greens and yellows in the spring, warm
autumnals in fall, and clear, rich hues for winter. Small tables litter
the rest of the cavern, enough to fit up to four people each, while stools
stand along the smooth wooden bar behind which is the passthrough window
to the kitchen. Glass-paneled cabinetry behind the bar provides a clear
view of the available liquors, the many colors reflecting the soft light
of glows tucked into strategic niches around the cavern.

It's a busy night at the Snowasis with its usual denizens present: wings (especially Glacier and Savannah trying to outdo each other at darts once again), weyrfolk and riders alike mingling and sharing a few drinks. Jo is just leaving a table full of a mixture of riders and workers - a few of them look shifty by the looks of them - as she makes her way over towards the bar counter with both her hands occupied by empty mugs that clearly need refilling.

Drills must have run late, because Ed is still in her flight gear as she makes her way over to the bar, grinning as she spots the dart game, and waves for a round of something, her eyes focused on the dart game, at least until she spots Jo's approach. "Why hello trouble, they have you running drinks or was it your turn to buy the round?"

Moving to Edyis's side as she deposits all the mugs down on the counter, "Got me a name, darlin'?" Jo teases back in greeting, sending the weyrling an amused look before the bartender arrives over and she fires off the chosen drink of the night. "It was either that or flash my tits," she tells her then once the man steps away, turning to lean up against the counter. "'N since everyone's already seen those...Just got in the Weyr yerself?" and she nods towards the flight gear still on.

Edyis laughs, "I'd say sorry but you didn't seem bothered by it, and Akluseth got punishment enough I think Tacuseth." Smirking, "Want a hand carrying them back? I did do a stint as a waitress once." For the flight gear she nods. "Yeah, can't wait for the month to be over, Keysi loves it, the drilling the practice the order of all of it. Me? I'm just waiting to get that little taste of freedom back when we graduate. Next month they start the shadowing the wings for real."

"I'm not bothered," Jo admits as she props one elbow up on the counter. "Likely the truth. Sure, if ya like," is the answer to help carrying the mugs as she scans the table where came from. "M'ron could've at least came over'n helped, the greedy bastard. Where did'ja serve at?" The waitressing, she means. On drills and the like, there's a short chuckle for it as she states, "One would think ya had enough recently," she lightly teases as she looks over her shoulder back towards the occupied bartender. "Which wings are ya lookin' forward to shadowin'?"

Edyis grins, "Riders' Lounge, but I did a stint or two in a few other places." She arches a brow and shakes her head with mock solemnity, "When I can again disappear for a day or two without folks paying it much mind, I'll be a happy woman. In the meantime, I suppose those other freedoms make it a little easier to bear." Of wings she seems thoughtful, "I was curious about Glacier, and F'manis is decent enough as a boss, So Taiga shouldn't be half bad. Don't know much about the rest."

"A lil' barmaid," Jo declares a little too loud, teeth bared in a smile. "That must've been a sight. Ya workin' on Betweenin'?" On the wings, there's a nod on her own wing as she says, "Taikrin's a good wingleader. Ya better off learnin' from her. Snowdrift's not so bad either. Ya'd have to ask Alida all 'bout Taiga," she notes, something causing her to chuckle a little. Best to check'em all out, not that ya'll have must choice 'bout which wing ya get tapped into."

"I'd rather not. She gets... gr-um-py." Edyis sing-songs mildly of her other favorite blue rider. "Yeah, after this month it's anywhere on pern you can imagine within the blink of an eye. The last limitation." She laughs, "R'hin used to joke that it was all decided in back room poker games. " She shrugs, "Nope it's a little like waiting to get picked for a team game as a kid." A wrinkle of her nose.

"More reason to pester, in my mind," Jo counters lightly on her wingmate as they wait for her drinks. "Why else ya think we get along so well?" It's rhetorical before she's nodding about Betweening and stating back, "I wonder if they still take y'all off on an outtin' like they did my class once we Betweened. There anyplace yer lookin' to Between to first on yer list?" She snickers on R'hin, shaking her head before she remarks, "He's likely right, though. I can see it. If I was wingleader, I'd do it." There's a tall-tale touch of fondness in her tone for the bronzerider before she snorts at the last. "Y'all find yer place soon enough, darlin'," she says evenly. "Even if ya feel they didn' place ya well, ya can always transfer wings."

"No one's mentioned it yet, though might be fun if they did." She states of the camping trip. Of between, a lazy smile spreads. "I have a few notions of where to go, haven't made up any plans yet, at least nothing concrete. Why you have suggestions?" As far as transferring goes she seems less certain. "That'd be a turn or two down the road though, seems like it'd be ungrateful not to try your hand at a wing that actually wanted you."

"If they don', organize one of yer own," Jo suggests as the bartender approaches them with filled mugs of ale. "As for places to Between to, Tac'n me were goin' all over just cuz we could the moment we got visuals to do so. 'Member the maps I showed ya in my weyr? That place ya were tellin' me, besides the beach ya wanna check out," she lets that trail, studying her until the clunk of mugs on counter draw her attention away. She drops a few marks down for him but doesn't leave the counter just yet. "Of course," she agrees on wing transferring with a brief incline of her head. "What I meant. Just good to have options is all I meant."

Edyis grins, "The thought had crossed my mind." She states of the abandoned cothold. "Of course if you have other little gems you wouldn't mind sharing might be worth checking those out too." And of wings, she nods, "Yeah, it is good to have options."

"In time," is all Jo says on gems of information, straightening up to turn and collect up as many of the filled mugs she could without spilling. "I don' divest all of my secrets easily. Come on," she jerks her head back towards the waiting table, her hands full once more. "Grab those last ones there'n come over. Ya already met Kait'n M'ron." She evens uses her hips to push off from the counter to stand fully and to start weaving through the night crowd back towards the table.
