| I'kris is dead. I'kris can't look down upon R'hin and his father, and feel pride and pleasure and satisfaction. And shame. Always shame. Guilt. He would if he could, though. He'd probably haunt his father, if such a thing were possible. The brush of icy, ghostly hands upon the man's neck-- that shiver that runs through a person in the middle of a Monacoan summer, when cold is the last thing a person should be. He'd lurk there, and wait, and watch, and M'kris would never know peace. But he can't. He'd apologise to Iolene, if such a thing were possible. He'd tell her that there's no way he can explain or excuse or anything, but that he wants her to know how sorry he is. He'd be uncomfortable with her forgiveness - her understanding. He'd rather she hate him forever. He'd like to be hated forever. It would bother him, if he knew people felt sorry for him. R'hin's actions would make him feel good, but they'd also hurt on a deep, personal level. No one should be on his side, not even against M'kris. If there were life after death, he'd be with Svissath, and they'd be able to understand each other, and be together, in a way they never really were in life. If he were a ghost, he'd visit people, and he would apologise. He would learn how to move things, all the better to leave notes and messages; silent apologies that, perhaps, would never be recognised for what they are. I'm sorry I involved you. I'm sorry I took from you. I'm sorry for what I said. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm just so, so, so sorry. He would hug his sister with ghostly arms, and cry ghostly tears on his mother's shoulder. He would feel guilty about all of it, though. Far better, really, to be simply gone. This way, he can never hurt anyone again. |

I know we're not supposed to feel sorry for I'kris but... he's just so broken.
