Some of the more eager folk are already beginning to make their way towards the caverns in hopeful search of food, ledges emptying of dragons and riders, and the traffic in the bowl starting to die down little by little the closer it gets to midday. All of this is watched over by Elaruth, who has adopted what is one of her usual perches right beside the break in the bowl wall that permits the waterfall to spill down the mountainside and into the fields beyond. It's a perch that allows her to be near to her rider without staying right next to her, a view through and over the trees keeping Hattie easily within her line of sight. Under the cover of those trees, Fort's Weyrwoman sits with straps in a pile at her feet and an old, old book closed on the table before her, both hands covering it as she stares off into the distance in idle contemplation.

It's still autumn at Fort, and that may be what colors Iesaryth's thoughts so warmly before she appears in the skies over the Weyr, the bubbly seafoam of her mind washing out Elaruth's way in notification and identification both. High Reaches' junior queen does not have the same need to stay near her rider, but the little Fortian gold's spot looks interesting enough for her to find space nearby once she's let Aishani off somewhere. Perhaps it's her lifemate's direction that has the tall dark goldrider finding her way over from the lakeshore proper to Hattie's grove, though she pauses briefly at the edge, unsure if she should interrupt even such idle thought.

The dense mist that so often blankets Elaruth's mind to keep the light-sound-feelings-everything dulled to a manageable level lifts a little to allow the wash of seafoam through, her greeting of Iesaryth wordlessly pleased, yet not overbearingly familiar. Maybe they can sit like bookends on either side of the waterfall. Out of necessity or what is now force of paranoid habit, Hattie has grown adept at catching movement at the periphery of her vision, and sooner rather than later does her attention return and swing towards Aishani, gaze sharpening as contemplation is cast off. "You're all right," she calls, somewhat dryly. "I'm not about to launch into one about snaring bronzeriders."

Iesaryth is pleased too; delighted Elaruth is pleased, happy to settle on the other side of the waterfall and watch the spill, so like both queens' nature, even if one is more still, one is in constant flow. She rustles her wings and gives a low rumble. There's no reason for her not to be in a good mood. And if anyone might understand paranoia, it's Iesaryth's rider. Aishani's not surprised at the shift in attention or the sharpening gaze, but she has to laugh at Hattie's supposition, dark eyes brightening. Shaking her head as she starts over, "I didn't want to interrupt your train of thought, just in case. How are you feeling?" A nod to the Weyrwoman's feet. If she's a bit flushed for snaring one of Hattie's bronzeriders, she's pretending it's not happening. But her smile, even faint as it is, won't fade.

Hattie follows that nod towards her feet and, for just a moment, regards them as if she's only just notice that they're there. "...Better," she quietly admits, slow to find words for that which she doesn't often speak about. "And, well... what isn't requires relearning balance and throwing weight... Like so many other things." She finds safety in that wryness; it's an obvious defence mechanism, but at least she speaks. Palms brush over that book just once more before she lets it be, planting her elbows down on the edge of the table. "I'm glad, you know," she states, low-voiced. "Whatever it means for each Weyr. We rarely get to have things like that go our way." But she'll leave well enough alone at that, if desired; it's plain that she's said what she wants to.

With a girlish wrinkle of her nose for relearning, Aishani says, with some little empathy, "That must be frustrating. But I'm glad it's only that." She doesn't need any more that that; not one to talk about the uncomfortable either, she merely quirks Hattie a wry smile as she slides into a seat, agreeing, "It seems like there's always something to re-learn. Or learn in the first place." The book gets a flicker of a glance, some interest, but the Weyrwoman's next has her distracted, if only briefly. Awkward, but appreciative, "Thank you. I... Well. Obviously." She's glad. "I hope it doesn't have to mean much. Or can mean something... better." A pause, as she looks around to make sure there's no one nearby. Quietly, "I did speak to Azaylia. She's... cautious. Of me, which I suppose she has a right to be. But she'll come, if something is arranged."

"I confess I'd like to see Iesaryth and Vhaeryth's babies," Hattie admits with a faintly rueful smile. "There'll be something of Elaruth and Isyath in them and the bloodlines fascinate me more than is probably healthy." She glances down at the book again, ducking her head a little before she likewise glances towards the edge of the trees. "...Ali has said she'd attend, if she can, but I don't feel that her heart's in it. She believes we should devote time to fixing things here first, but... Well, that's her opinion. I suppose she's entitled to it." Giving a quiet snort, she adds, "Maybe she and Azaylia will hit it off and decide that we're mad." Then: "I've an appointment tomorrow with Nimae of Igen. I could broach the subject with her then."

Smile widening a touch, "I think I'll like that as well. She's always happy when they're smart. For all she's not fond of Arekoth, she doesn't think he's stupid, and of course now... brilliance." There's a bit of an eyeroll for Iesaryth's arrogance, but Aishani is fond, so more than willing to forbear. Who knows what the gold puts up with. "It's likely better to keep track than not, given how they seem to cross so often." She has a wry smirk for Hattie there; she hasn't forgotten lineages. Arching fine brows, she can allow, "There's something to that, I suppose. We certainly have issues at 'home' that need dealing with, but... I'd feel better if I had less to worry about from outside my Weyr. Even if it's really not my job to do the worrying." There's a shrug for the other goldriders, amused. "It wouldn't be the worst thing I've been called. And please let me know how that goes? I've not had much luck with them. I'm curious. I can speak to Oriane at Monaco. I imagine she'll see me just to see why I want to talk to her."

"From what Elaruth tells me of Vhaeryth, I'm imagining intelligence will be augmented with an odd, dry wit," Hattie teases gently, a funny little smirk of her own tugging at one corner of her mouth. "And if they turn out to be charming too, then their riders won't know what's hit them." She nods along with the idea of less to worry about, agreeing, "I'd rather I knew we weren't intent on blaming each other for all sorts, including supposed 'lapses in security', if it can possibly go that way. One less point of attack." Her shoulders hunch at that; she doesn't seem terribly hopeful. "I'll have Elaruth share word of what's gone on as soon as I can," she confirms. A deep breath follows before she speaks again. "My... runaway sister Impressed a green at their latest Hatching a few days ago, so I thought I'd capitalise on it and use it as an excuse to speak with Nimae, as... opportunistic as it sounds."

"They're both a bit like that, so perhaps. She thinks he's charming, but she always has, I think." If Aishani thinks the same of his rider, she doesn't say... but she must, if she puts up with N'rov full-time, willingly. Glancing back at her gold, "I doubt it'll make her any less bored with the eggs, but there's always hope. And yes, that's part of it, certainly." Turning back to Hattie with a nod, "Not blaming each other. Being able to eliminate one another from suspicion. Being able to figure out where people that might harm us have gone off to; not just losing them at the edges of our territories." With a purse of her lips, she tries on an optimism that doesn't quite suit; "It's worth a try. And..." She pauses at that last, uncertain briefly. "Perhaps less opportunistic than efficient. Perhaps Nimae will agree to keep an eye on her as well." Because, runaway.

"I hope that she'll agree on both counts, yes." Hattie can't quite stop herself from rolling her eyes at her not-so-baby sister's need to be watched over. "If nothing else, it's an excuse to open a dialogue that might not have existed otherwise." Though she seems rather ambivalent about it, not truly pleased, yet not dissatisfied with the situation either. "Onyka has made her presence known here of late." She darts a quick look up towards her queen, fighting a smile that wants to betray some sort of satisfaction that: "Elaruth doesn't like Nidith." A shrug. "I guess that's not very in the spirit of things, but Onyka is rather insufferable. I don't wish her ill, but..." Trying to leave that behind, she tilts her head and brushes a palm over the small, worn book once more. "Does one tell one's family about the little sister's Impression and write in her new 'profession'?" She's almost laughing at herself.

"It's always helpful, though not the most... not the best part of the job. I am not the best diplomat, hence our issues with Monaco. I suppose we can't all be Iesaryth." Iesaryth, who is generally good-natured, unbothered by other queen's issues as long as manners are maintained. Aishani is wry, but shrugs a bit diffidently. It is what it is. Fine brows lifting again, this time curiously, "Has she though? Why do you think she's been about? Or has she told you? It can't be for a change in scenery." Of that, suspicious goldriders are doubtful. Glancing down at Hattie's book again, with a quirk of lips, "Do they shoot the messenger in your family? You're Blood besides, aren't you." A wrinkle of her nose again. "If my assistant has her way, I might need to figure that one out."

"I thought I was reasonably good at it, before Jivrain took on his father's title." Now though, from the twist of Hattie's lips; now is another matter. "I believe Onyka's intent is to show my assistant who is in charge. They have a deal to smooth over... poor behaviour, which seems to involve poor behaviour on Onyka's part this time." This time, her shrug is a little forced. "I'm not aware that she's stepped over the line yet, but the moment she does is the moment she forces my hand. I think she knows that." As for her family, she gives a wry smile and admits, "No, generally not, but they might converge on the girl who's caused much trouble in recent turns. Blood does know how to cause a scene." En-route to darting another quick look up at both of the queens on the bowl wall, she enquires, "Dare I ask what your assistant has planned?"

With a short laugh, "I thought I was until I realized I had an unfortunate habit of speaking my mind. I suppose once it starts coming out, it doesn't stop." So many turns pretending to think something else might have rendered Aishani incapable of doing otherwise. For a little while anyway. She seems slightly amused by Hattie's explanation, noting, "That must be fun to watch. Do you make popcorn?" She would. "And I'd imagine Onkya knows what she can and can't get away with. I'd think she watches the line carefully if she wants to keep coming by. I wonder if she does that elsewhere." Another reason for the lot of them to get together. As for Hattie's family, shrugging, "Well, they'd need a ride there. There are ways to make sure that's difficult. And if there's a scene, well. It'd only be the fifth one that day at Weyr, I'd guess." Shaking her head, she clarifies, "My cousin would like to stand, and she's not too young. But my family... I don't know that they'd like it. They're better, but..."

"I walk in the other direction in-case her smug little smile has me ruining the relationship between Ista and Fort like never before," Hattie has to confess, yet not without a trace of humour. "I think a part of me hopes that she's not like that, really. Then, I don't know if I'd respect her if she wasn't." There is something to said for having enough presence to be insufferable. "...I can only say that trying to protect and prevent my sister from doing things has led us here. I do wonder if she would have found her green turns ago; whether that would have been better. The more we tried to keep her from making what we thought were 'reckless' decisions, the more she fought." She hesitates, then asks, "Would it be very much one world," family, "or the other?"

Still amused, "One of my aunts used to say, 'I hate her face'. So I think I know what you mean." Aishani seems as if she might be entertained, but that's her. "Perhaps just leave it a mystery. That way you'll always wonder, and you won't punch her besides." Two bonuses, even. As for Hattie's sister, "Some people have to learn on their own, I think. No matter how much you try to protect them from... the world, they have to experience mistakes to understand them. But I can see it being difficult." Tilting her head, considering, she answers eventually, "I don't know that it should be so stark anymore. But dragons still make my people nervous. And Jyani is young enough not to remember why. I don't want her to be hurt by a change in people she cares for."

"...Do you think they'd be willing to hear her out, if she told them what she wanted?" Jyani. "And would she be willing to listen to how they'd feel about it?" Hattie pauses, propping her chin on elbows that plant down atop the table again. "If such openness would be possible and not mean she's immediately... distrusted." She grimaces, glancing down at the little book. "If trying to dissuade her or just not permit her drives her as it did Llowri, it may well be best for everyone for her to live with her own decisions." And yet: "But it would be nice if she could be informed of why her wishes have the potential to cause her pain."

Brows coming together thoughtfully, "Possibly." Aishani's quiet for a time, but only to give herself some time to go over it in her head before, "I should at least speak to her about how things might be different for her. I don't know that anyone who wants to take such a step ever truly hears those objections, but she's a bright girl. Maybe I'll see what she wants to do after that." Offering something of an appreciative smile, "I wouldn't tell her no. But I didn't want to seem as if I were... lecturing or something. It's hard not to, sometimes." A wry smile.

"No," Hattie finds herself agreeing, "I don't suppose they do. Llowri didn't. I made sure no family knew to make those objections. Then, maybe if I had, there would be no Elaruth." Elaruth, who appears to be looking right at her at that very second. "It's very easy to say all of these things, now. Easy to try and be sensible about all of it." She cracks a small smile of her own. "I lectured far too much before Elaruth, I'm afraid, but perhaps you could try and blame any possible hint of it on your knot. A side effect. You can't possibly control it. It just sneaks up on you."

"It didn't really stop me either, but I suppose I had a rather specific objective in mind." Aishani is only a little wry at that. Things have changed, but not so greatly. "When you put it that way," she says, glancing dragon-wards as well, "Perhaps I shouldn't get involved. But for... the warning. Forewarned is forearmed." Or she'll tell herself that, so she doesn't feel badly if it makes Jyani feel badly. Laughing, she nods. "I'll do that. And I didn't hear anything about 'before Elaruth'." Her attention drifting skyward, "I should get back. To the snow. But we'll figure out a time soon. Before or after she's done with the eggs."

"I'll let you know what Nimae's thoughts are," Hattie promises, an appreciative, good-humoured quirk of lips given for 'before Elaruth'. "And Onyka's, should we manage to hold a conversation that doesn't cause a minor explosion." Gossip travels quicker than sparks, in some cases. She nods agreement to finding a suitable time, inclining her head slowly. "Do you think we could come and see the eggs at some point?" she'll ask before they part. "If..." 'If' so many things. If Iesaryth doesn't mind. If Hattie can visit without foolishly panicking. If. "Be safe. I hope all goes well if we don't meet before." With the eggs, she must mean.

With a sigh, "I'll let you know about Oriane, likewise. And of course." Aishani, standing slowly, seems a bit puzzled that it should even be an issue, but will add, "Iesaryth likes people to see her eggs. And she'd rather watch the people and speak to the dragons than look at the eggs. She's still rather put out about their lack of communication." Iesaryth snorts Elaruth's way as she lifts off to land down by the shore for her rider's convenience. Stupid boring eggs. Rolling her eyes, Shani inclines her head to Hattie. "And you. Thank you. I hope the same with your sister." The eggs are a matter of nature. Humans less so. With a twist of her mouth to that effect, she offers the Weyrwoman a little wave before heading down to the shore.
