| Of course, it had been a lovely afternoon. Just over a month had passed since that awful night when his world got dumped upside down. It'd be lying if he said it was easy now. But they were making progress. Rasavyth had agreed to be open with him. K'zin had agreed to try to understand. Everything. Some parts of everything required a stiff drink before they could even be broached. He knew alcohol wasn't a good crutch, but he lacked the strength to face some things sober. Alcohol was his last remaining vice. That wasn't good. Ras had 'gently' convinced him he ought to give sex another try. « Don't be an idiot, my K'zin. You have needs. So satisfy them. » Of course, he thought of Telavi. She'd been his first and always patient that way, but Ras had said it didn't matter who, and this afternoon, he should focus less on the booze and more on the babes in Snowasis. Of course, then K'del and his new knot showed up. Ugh. K'del. That was plenty enough of a buzzkill to have him slipping out. But just leaving didn't let him shove the thoughts of the older bronzerider from his head. He didn't even know how he felt about all of it anymore. It spiraled. He knew it. He wasn't in control anymore. He wondered if anyone was. K'zin knew he had to apologize, of course. But how do you apologize to someone who you're still so angry at? « It starts with intention, of course. It starts an invitation. You take the first step, and he might take one in return. » K'zin sometimes hated that Rasavyth was smart. Rasavyth never apologized for it. K'zin mostly just hated it when it sounded like he was right. So, utilizing his liquid courage, he wrote a note. It took forever, of course.
It took him days before he actually sent it, and not a 'congratulations' in sight, of course. Ugh. Of course. |
