Day 27, month 3, with news about the worsening situation at Boll spreading, the Weyrleaders begin to put into action several measures designed to protect Fort's own. Wroth is heard to summon all Wingleaders for an immediate meeting, while Elaruth reaches out to the other dragons of Fort to request that they return to the Weyr and remain there until the following day. All riders and residents are requested to compile a list of all the locations outside the Weyr proper that they have visited in the past sevenday, and those who are found to have visited Southern Boll soon find themselves under quarantine in their weyrs or separate quarters.

The announcement, via dragon, might not come as a surprise to many: riders are not to visit Southern Boll Hold. However, this first announcement turns out to be one of many that follow, mostly later in the day and delivered by the Weyrleaders at the evening meal.

  • No new visitors or residents - including family of current weyrfolk - are to be accepted into the Weyr
  • Fort's sweep area has been temporarily reduced to priority points of contact only, primarily major and minor holds
  • Volunteer riders over the age of 16 and under the age of 60 are requested to report for assignments to assist with duties at Southern Boll, including work with the Healer Hall to transport both Healers and supplies
  • Those who volunteer will be monitored and, where necessary, quarantined
  • Specific locations where messages and requests can be left and collected are to be set up across the region, in an effort to reduce human contact.
