Dinnertime's over, and the Benden import's leaning languidly back in a seat with her toes pointed toward the fire as a dancer might, looking ever so smug. That might have something to do with the small goblet upon the side table next to her, or it might have more to do with the green dragon who, not even three feet long now, curls upon her shoulders like a particularly lovely ornament. If she's been confronted over Solith's presence, well, she's still here, isn't she?

With the place not being busy or populated at all at this time of night, it's likely the best time to catch one black leathered bluerider. Jo walks in with a purposeful gait these days, pausing on the threshold first to scan who's here before moving in. She finds her target easily enough with one green dragonet with her, and she approaches from behind with the brisk words probably meant as greeting from her: "When I saw ya Impress, I admit I was surprised. Not as much as seein ya out on the sands, maybe. Kait didn' tell me ya were in town until only after the fact." She's before Telavi now, hand on her hip as she looks the weyrling over first, and then her new charge. "Evenin', Telavi." She doesn't need an introduction.

And she doesn't need one, not with Telavi twisting around to smile brilliantly up at the bluerider at the mere sound of the woman's voice, even if Solith does flicker out a slender tongue in protest at being rumpled. Reaching back to stroke a possessive finger down the little green's neck soothes the hatchling, and the arch of Telavi's back does lovely things with the pretty blouse she wears, to boot. "You saw us? It was really delightful of Kait to bring us over." And then she makes a face, because, "Solith doesn't like me to say 'me,' for the way I was before," or at least that's her whispered, conspiratorial claim.

Dark eyes light on Solith for a long moment, but they manage fall on Telavi herself - and the curve of that back. And that pretty blouse as a whole. Jo is Jo, after all. "I saw ya," she says, choosing to claim the seat right across from them before she nods towards the green herself. "And I saw her." There's a long pause once she's seated, regarding the other as she speaks before she says after it, "Last time I saw ya was in Crom," she idly notes, unfastening down her jacket to shove a hand in and pull out a worn flask. "Causin' trouble like the rest of us. Now yer here. What did ya promise Kait, hm? Why are ya really here?" Not mincing words, this one, and she's studying Telavi with the barest hint of a odd smile.

The little green dragon has an uncanny stare when fixed upon a person, though it's possible that the bluerider might be used to such things. Solith's eyes are partially lidded, even here indoors where there are only glows to light her, filmy innermost lids descended over the opalescence of her gaze like the finest of cataracts. And she keeps looking. Telavi seems to think little of it, continuing to rub her slender throat without glancing back at the dragon. "Why does any girl come to a Weyr? Don't you think it's the promise of eggs, the potential of becoming a dragonrider, mightiest of the mighty?" There's a sublimely innocent curve to her smile.

Jo seems to be having a hard time choosing who to look at exactly: the weyrling or her hatchling. Eyes narrow a fraction when she glances at Solith, noting that look from the green as she answers her future rider with a blithe, "Ya wanna become a dragonrider." It's rhetorical. "Whatever for, Tela?" and she flicks that gave back to her with the barest lift of a brow. "Ya never seemed the sort to follow the rules. Not when ya hung with us for a time or two." Unlidding her flask and taking a drink, "I didn' even know ya were here," she adds now, almost wryly. "One would think, ya were almost keepin' yerself concealed. On purpose."

"Not anymore," Telavi says with a sigh so airy that she may never, ever have heard of such a thing as rhetoric. "It's too late now, my destiny is sealed, bonded to her for eternity. It's all very romantic, especially since she's so little that there's not much to clean up after her... and she's so good, Jo, she really is." Solith misses, or perhaps disregards, her cue to croon in favor of twisting her head through Telavi's long spill of hair and letting her eyes drift shut. "But careful, bluerider, you might make a girl think you would have noticed. Didn't Kaitlin tell you? That she brought me in, at the very last minute? Maybe she's the one who was concealing me."

"They're a handful," Jo drops dryly, lips pressing together. "Not romantic." There's almost a frown on her face, save for the fact that the bluerider usually doesn't take much very seriously. Usually. "I have noticed," she points out now, "and that's why I'm here. To see what yer on about, bein' here. Who knows why Kait decided to tell me at the last minute. Ya know how ditzy she is." There's another fortifying drink before the flask get stopped, and while doing so she states, "So, ya can be honest with me, darlin'," in almost a purr, dark eyes meeting hers. "I'm not buyin' the 'wantin' to be a rider' shit. Ya don' exactly work for us, so who do ya work for? Or are ya lookin' for cause a little ruckus here?" It sounds suggestive despite the underlying layer of danger present, and the convict rider's not hiding the fact that she's phishing for information.

No? Telavi's left brow lifts in silent question, soon to be joined by the other. Does she know, really? She shifts in her chair, maybe it's at that tone of Jo's, drawing her slender legs up to settle her feet on her chair with a slight wiggle of her toes. At least Solith tolerates it, and the purse of the green weyrling's lips is inviting even before, "Who says I work for anyone, just now? Maybe I'm entertaining offers, figuring out who'll be worth my while." Only, her eyes are a little too dilated to be quite as coolly teasing as she appears.

"Yer givin' me a whole lotta speculation, darlin'," Jo seems to warn, though the danger seems to be left out of her tone as she openly looks the younger woman over. Leering, maybe, but at least the little green is being given some attention as she says, "Congrats, by the way. Whatever yer reasons, yer part of this Weyr now, not the lands. If yer lookin' for attractive offers, I'm surprised ya never gave Greenfields a sniff, unless ya did and smelled somethin' that didn' agree with ya." Head tilting a little now in the pause, "What have ya been up to, since Kait and I last seen ya?" she asks now, her curiosity getting the better of her now as she taps fingers against her flask.

It's not attention that Telavi protests, though she says, "You're making me think I should hold out on you, darlin'," such a sultry rendition of Jo's own tones, "and let you speculate some more." She strokes her hatchling a little more, not so unlike the little green firelizard who had been perched upon her shoulder before, though the older creature is nowhere in sight now. "As for me, why, it hasn't been so very long as all that, and I'd like to think you're clever enough to guess. Running around, cutting up meat, remembering to bathe... all sorts of exciting things. I hear there are to be quizzes coming up, too. And let's not forget, making new friends." If she's just talking the talk, if she's more shy in that new life than she is here in this fragment of the old one, it certainly doesn't show. "Solith wants to know what you want with me, Jo."

"It's dangerous to leave me speculatin', Tela," Jo is quick to counter back, lips curling into a sultry smile that matches the weyrling's tone. "The things that go through my mind in a day. Did ya tell Kaitlin? Ya know it would be easy to get anythin outta that one." Not really a threat, but, it could easily be seen as one. Still, she leans forward now, sliding a glance towards that watching little green as she lowers her voice and says, "Ain' about bein' clever, baby. Just tell me what I wanna know, and I'll go outta my way to protect ya here, like I do the others. That's all it takes. Ya can tell Solith," and she jerks her chin towards the hatchling, some of her wild hair falling over one eye, "that's what I want with ya. I wanna know yer intentions. If it ain' nothin' to do with me and mine, then we're golden. Otherwise...." She doesn't finish that, staring Telavi down, expecting reassurance. Expecting some sort of answer to the contrary.

The way Telavi leans forward just slightly, as though leaning into welcome sunlight instead of those dark eyes, it's a type of danger that she likes a little too much. "Is it? I had no idea. Maybe you'll tell me what I should get out of her, while you..." but a glance at her dragon has her not just moderating her tone but, after fussing briefly with her lower lip, moving on. "I thought you'd like for my intentions to do with you and yours? So you can protect me, like you say. Although with all those others listening on your behalf, what do you need me for? Not to drink up your flask this time, certainly. You know we're not supposed to do that." Tela glances through her lashes at the stoppered item in question, lingeringly.

Chuckling shortly, almost simpering, Jo eyes Solith once more when it looks like something passed between the two of them and she prompts, "Moderatin' what ya say already? Next ya'll let her choose yer clothes for ya." Is that mocking or teasing? The bluerider seems to be playing both sides of the fence, teasing and mocking and even leering. To something said though, there's a lingering silence before she says, "So lemmee get this straight," in a drawl, deadpan. "Yer just here because Kait just happens to give ya the white knot. And ya just happen to Impress. And ya just happen to not be workin' for anybody and as for yer intentions...." There's that pause again before she lifts the flask and regards it briefly since Telavi does. Dark eyes find that lingering note in the other before she takes a taste of the strong drink. "Nice and strong, the way I like it," she seems to entice her, lips quirked. "Yer not supposed to do a lot of things. I could slide that flask over to ya and get ya in trouble for a few sips. Imagine all the questions yer little darlin' there would be askin'. But you have better self control than that, doncha?" Brows lift and fall before she takes another drink, then sets it on the table right between them.

"Is that how it worked with you and your... Tac?" Has Telavi ever heard him called anything else, or is she just being familiar? All that just-happening, her eyes slip from the other woman and then the flask and back again, as though she can't look at either of them any too long. "Solith wouldn't be bothered," the weyrling claims. "She's a good girl," if currently rustling through her future rider's long blonde hair, the first warning Jo will have that Telavi's getting up. The girl slides her feet off the chair, then stretches in a way that points her toes before slipping them into her light boots, tugging the toggled thongs tighter one-handed. Glancing up through her lashes again, "And you know I've horrible self-control, and you're a beast to provoke me. Good night, bluerider." When she stands, light fingers seek to take the flask with her, though she hasn't nearly the sleight of hand of someone like Kait. But then, is she really trying?

"Tacuseth knew better than to pull one up on me," Jo quips back, maybe a bit playfully. "But we'll how much she changes ya, greenrider. Since yer stuck in one place now. I'm sure somethin's gonna chafe eventually." When Telavi gets up, so does the convict rider. She's fastening her jacket back up as the other speaks about her being a beast, and there's no apology in her rather amused gaze. She steps around that table, up to Telavi and right into her personal space, the woman almost towering in her height. There's a sensual way in her movements, very deliberate as she says, "Looks like she's the only good girl here, then," wryly to that. "And I'm glad ya realized that I am one. A beast. Best ya remember that should it manage to fade from memory. I'm all about remindin' ya." Eyes slide towards Solith right then and long fingers lift as if to touch the side of Telavi's face - only to reverse the touch towards the abandoned flask on the table to pluck it up back into her possession when it seems the other may take it. "Well, I'll do ya a favor on the self control. We wouldn' wat Solith's first taste of liquor to be because her little rider couldn' stand up to a fellow thief." Only now she takes a step back with her flask, delivering a lazy little two-fingered salute her way as she says, "Ya have a good one, Tela. I'm sure, we'll see each other again." Ominous?

They wouldn't be so different in height, except for how there's something about how Tela stands, one knee softly bent, her hip an accentuated curve. It lets Jo be that much taller, lets Telavi smile up at her, oblivious to how Solith's shifted back to her hindpaws like she'd glide to the bluerider's shoulder instead. "And I'm all about your reminding me," the green weyrling murmurs, willlingly conceding the flask with a puckish smile. As to whether they'll see each other, "Especially if you see," me, "us first." Her salute for Jo is one-fingered, but not her middle finger, and soon captured by Solith's delicate, distracted paw.

There's a snort to that and Jo's giving into a smile that at least acknowledging, the woman stating to that, "I should tell Solith to keep an eye on ya, not the other way around." It's her dry, final words at least, before the bluerider's heading out through the other entrance, but not without the bemused, and curious, look being sent over her shoulder on the way out.

< Oooh. I liked getting to see this side of Jo. Hard to describe, but the flow of the scene with Telavi was so easy and organic. Now I'm even more curious about this new gonna-be-greenrider~
