He was uncomfortable in more than just the physical sense. Actually, his body was starting to feel better these past couple of days. The bruising really didn't hurt anymore and all that troublesome swelling was going down. Tsanth hardly remembered most of the details about what happened; he certainly didn't have a good grasp on the outrage anymore.

But regardless, that didn't stop Z'ian from experiencing the creeping sensation of wrongness. The wrongness of two brownriding Weyrleaders, the wrongness of two Weyrwomen in charge at the same time. The wrongness that some trick was being played, somewhere. But he couldn't put his finger on who, what or why exactly. But the real wrongness of it was himself. Throwing his lot in behind K'del, behind some sort of a resistance against their "leadership". That type of activity was against every rule in life he'd ever set for himself.

Don't get involved.

Let someone else figure it out.

Just keep out of the way.

It's for someone else.

But it hadn't been for someone else since before the flight. He'd tried to interfere there too, hadn't he? Quietly as it was. It seemed he was steeped into it now, too far over the line in his own head to turn it around. And for every rule he had about keeping his nose clean, there were ten others about not giving up or going back.
