Description

Tall and on the lanky side, he stands roughly around six feet and moves with languid easiness rather than grace. His dark-brown hair echoes the indifference of his carriage -- rather shaggy and ill-arranged. Below equally-dark, heavy eyebrows are bright and lively medium-brown eyes. In the center of his cheery, amiable face is a prominent-but-not-overlarge nose, set above slim, pink lips that are more often than not fixed in a jovial grin. His soft jaw and chin and fair-for-a-Southerner complexion make him appear youthful enough that, if not for his height, he might appear younger than his sixteen turns. His clothes are simple and tend to be slightly overlarge. Since the move to cooler climes he tends to favor long, dark, roughspun pants and long-sleeved knit shirts. Sturdy, well-worn brown wherhide boots complete his typical ensemble.

History

Jemizen was born to N'jem and Zennia, a happily-weyrmated pair of dragonriders (blue and green, respectively) at Southern Weyr. He was preceded by a sister, Dahlia, not quite a turn earlier, and he appreciates his parents every day for bringing him into a world that already had a tailor-made-for-him best friend in it. Being a spoiled child with an angelic face led to a happy childhood spent either cavorting with the other weyrbrats, avoiding chores, or being punished for avoiding chores. Life continued in much the same way for over a decade: Jem, lacking any senses of ambition or responsibility would work when he must but played whenever he could--which was often, thanks to the constant indulgence of his family. Shortly after his sixteenth turnday, Jem was struck by a sudden onset of wanderlust, and at his father's suggestion decided to volunteer to travel to Fort Weyr and help out with storm relief and general cleanup. Dee, unable to withstand her brother's irrepressibility (and likely at their parents suggestion that she keep an eye out for her little brother) was haplessly dragged along.
